I grew up on hondas went from XR 75 to Cr 125....then past the 250 for CRF 450 R. The 450 is a beast but heavy. Ill take that 2 stroke any fling day over the 4 stroke. quick light....and dependable.

I never thought I'd see the day when people take 4 strokes seriously! lol Keeping in mind that 4 strokes when I was actually around dirt bikes and 4 wheelers, etc (nearly 20 years ago) were quite slow. I guess they are better now? I still hate the sound of them though! :)
Regardless, nothing beats the fun of a 2 stroke. I remember the first time I rode a CR250. Awesome!

I am by no means knowledgeable and haven't ridden in years, since I was a kid really. But I hear 4 strokes all the time now. Used to be I only really ran into 2 stokes out and about on the trails, gravel pits, etc. Dunno, assuming they are much improved or more suited for more peoples riding.
DRUNKDONKEY100 actually four strokes are louder. Their sound waves travel farther. Its hard to hear my 125 when im next to a 250f.

The gooning at the end ruined the video it almost brought a tear to my eye hearing tht thing squeal with the clutch pulled in poping the clutch in and out 😢 poor bike . Rest in peace top end 😩

+Romondo Alexander My yz250 has taken one hell of a beating. It keeps in ticking like the terminator. It even broken a chip of the top of the piston, shot it out the exhaust pipe, without damaging the barrel at all. Funny thing is it still ran with a chunk missing from the piston.

J'ai 40 ans et ma première était une CR500 2T que j'avais acheté à 16 ans pour 800 francs (salaire de 2 mois de job d'été à l'époque).La plupart de mes potes achetaient ça aussi et on roulaient sur un terril "à côté de chez nous car on habitaient Nord-Pas-de-Calais" et on s'amusaient comme des fous malgré les chutes "parfois direction URGENCES" mais à peine remis des blessures et les motos réparées,HOP on étaient repartis! Depuis le temps où ils ne fabriquent plus ces superbes moteurs si puissants et faciles à réparer j'ai toujours acheté des
CR250 2T et jamais voulu essayer un 4T car rien que le son me fait mal aux crâne!

the 96 was the one that won everything in the u.s and in europe the 01 had the troublesome carb everyone used to swap it for the 00 which in my mind was the best one 100% reliable had mine new since 2000 three new pistons numerous trips to western super mare beach race and its as strong today as it was 14 year ago superb bike still give my mates 07 a go but i have ridden the 07 and its a great bike too

Yup something about a CR that makes you want to hate rev it
4 strokes rule for Supercross with their big traction grabbing hit, but it would be interesting to put some top level riders on 300cc two strokes built for MX and have them run full outdoor motos. The less tiring nature of the 2 stroke might be an advantage over the course of a long outdoor race. 450 4Ts are powerhouses. 2Ts are not about power, they are about handling. Seems to me a developed 300 2T would have enough power and still handle.
I like 4Ts and 2Ts and have a 450 and a CR250. Which one I ride depends on my mood and if it is tacky out. If it is tacky, the 2T goes out every time. I am more willing to take risks on the 2T too - the manic nature of the the 2T just gets me going!

the honda CR 250 had AF frame from 97 or 98 up till 2007 then production stop`d....the first CRF till todays is just a CR copy with a 4 stroke motor....i have a 01 CR 250 and it eats 450`s
nooo,, it really doesnt. my buddy todd who is a talented rider can do 100+ ft nose wheelies, rides trials, and dhmtb. hes much better than me. if we drag my 09 crf vs his ported and piped 01..... hes dust.

I used to own a 01 cr250r just full pro circuit exhaust and lil bigger main jet .. Dude i smoked two crf450s in dirt and the street. Both my buddys were dusted lol. 450 is powerful but 2stroke will always be more beasty and more fun

I keep getting angry seeing all those comments.... You're ALL like "he treats the bike like shit" well the bike is BUILT TO BE TREATED LIKE SHIT tell you what... It's not a street bike costing 20.000 being unable to take no abuse... IT is a fucking HONDA CR250 that can take the hell of abuse, and as a guy said below, after each race, professionals rebuild their bikes.... SO much abuse... If you want to buy a bike and care about it like it's your eyeball, DEFINATELY don't buy a dirt bike... Cause the dirt biker spirit is based on the phrase "my bike is my tool. It breaks? I repair it... It can not be repaired? I buy a new one"... If you don't accept that, quit riding dirt bikes on motocross parks and that kind of stuff and go buy a CBR250.... (I'm not against street bikes, i love them, but dirt bikes are there, anyways, to be abused)

that's because we haven't seen anybody for many years ride a 250 2 stroke anywhere close to that level. The last true motocross ended whenever james stewart and ricky carmichael witched to 450's
