So happy to FINALLY say that the film is LIVE! Head over to my channel to watch it 🎉🎥🔊
No!!!!! Going to check it out now!!!!! Stupid question I CANNOT find an answer for - can I use say the Atamos Ninja V to record to with the ZVE1??? One card slot is scaring me with mine! If I can record with one slot and an external monitor I’m keeping it … Atamos doesn’t have it listed as a supported device
The Sony ZV-E1 is mentioned in the title, but as you begin watching the video, it's easy to forget that the video is about a camera, because in reality, filmmaking it's not about a camera body, it's all about what you add to the camera, and what is happening around it.
that's a terrible mindset to have. Choosing the camera body is just as important as anything. Never put anything at the back of your mind, always think about the reason. You wouldn't use an alexa on a found footage film
@@AnimeZone247 What I meant is that any modern cinema camera out there is capable of producing a high-quality image that meets theatrical and broadcast requirements. What truly makes the difference are the other elements: the script, acting, lenses, camera movement, lighting, sound, color grading, and so on.
@@tonytech5520 oh that’s why you think the body doesn’t matter. Look at it like this. Stop trying to get the best image quality. Think of it as a way to tell your story. At the end of the day the best looking camera really doesn’t matter, what matters is that did that camera tell your story in the best way possible. Take the show the rookie. They use a cop’s body cam as footage. You think they use bc of its image quality? Nope, they use it bc it gives the feeling of the POV of an actual cop. It changes the mood. Think of the camera body as a way to elevate your story. Once you do that, it’ll be way better
@@AnimeZone247 You are clearly not grasping my point. Yes, different cameras can produce varying results, which can be used creatively. However, some people believe that simply having a high-end camera guarantees the best possible image, completely disregarding all the elements necessary to achieve the highest production value. Do you believe the creator of the video made a wise choice by using the Sony ZV-E1 to shoot a film of Netflix quality? He could have chosen any camera from a very long list of current cameras in the market, and the final product would have been similar.
@@tonytech5520 no I get your point. If you want to have that mindset the you do you I can’t force you to think another way
The fact that you married your best friend who professionally helps you in production is so dope.
honestly still doesn't feel real... thank you for noticing bro
I envy you bro, love from Germany. Waiting for the results. 🤙🏾
10 minutes in and this feels like a documentary in itself! This is so valuable to me as a filmmaker figuring it out myself, foreal.. thank you Ryan! this is crazy inspiring
Thanks so much for letting me know David. Appreciate you!
Honestly, 1 of the best behind the scenes cuts I’ve ever seen here on YT bro 🔥 Phenomenal!
Wow, I appreciate that. Thanks!
No it’s not… no results were shown just talking and talking and show some clips of what the final looked like
As a photographer who is used to working by myself, it is really cool to see a film crew at work. The end result is always the goal, but I love seeing the process. Great video, thank you for your insight. These videos help a lot for someone who is trying to learn cinematography
Wow this is QUALITY. Love the integry and behind the scene with this level of transparency.
Appreciate this!! 🙏
Most random place to find Lebeautiful
This is great showing the whole production and being transparent. I've been on YT since 2008 and was on live video (doesn't exist anymore) before here and played with motorcycle video way back when. wish I would of stuck with it and kept developing my craft, however I love seeing how things have evolved and none professional hollywood budgets making things happen.
So amazing to hear this! I really appreciate you taking the time to say something. Hope to see you again soon 🙏
I am legitimately drooling over the lighting kits and stabilizers.
after assisting in a bunch of short films and 1 feature, I realize how crucial it is to have a 1st AD even on the smallest set, just having someone who keeps an eye on time and schedule is so clutch.
Can't wait to see the results!
Couldn't agree more. Easily was one of our most critically lacking roles
This is the video we have been waiting for brother, I have been eyeing that camera since it came out and I have a strong feeling I’ll end up getting it, mostly for vlogging and social content, but knowing you can film a whole Netflix production with it is more than insane, your work speaks so many volumes especially to me as someone who is constantly trying to grow as a creator, you already know I got much love for you Ryan. Keep being awesome and such a great guy. ❤
i cant express how much im feeling this video
Derrick! Thank you so much bro
Thanks for the bts. With love from Nigeria
Much love!!!
This was such a refreshing watch. I've shot 8 feature films and 5 seasons of narrative TV and watching this made me super nostalgic for the good old days when everyone's pitching in, going above and beyond and just having a great time. From what I could see on the monitors, this looked so good, you're gonna go far dude! Stay humble, keep surrounding yourself with these amazing collaborators and continue to lead with love and the rest will come. Easy subscribe, looking forward to following your journey!
What a sick video! This bts is so awesome and unique, kinda makes it it’s own piece of art separated from the actual film y’all are shooting. Absolutely love it! Stoked to see the finished product!!
Thanks for this comment. Sharing this BTS in a unique and hopefully more approachable way was really my goal with this piece, so I'm glad that was your initial take away!! I'm excited to share it once I wrap post!!
this brings back so many memories. I remember where most shoots were film stocks, and digital was a new thing, then slowly Red camera came out, then DSLR's.
honestly one of the best videos i've seen in a while on youtube, we need more this! keep up the great work and keep pushing
Wow... Thank you so so much seriously!
Love the breakdown Ryan! Can't wait to see the full short film!
Thank you brother!! Seriously so pumped to share this thing...
It's dope to see y'all actively work through things and communicate together is dope. It's incredible how fast you learn things working through the project. Hearing the dialogue going down before the shot will make the scenes hit when we see the final film! Excited to see it bro!
Benji! Thank you bro. So glad that the experience translated well. Such a unique and fun project! Hoping to do more like this!?
@@RyanKao of course bro! Hope one day I can give you a hand on one of your projects! I appreciate how you reach out to your community to help 👌🏾 you’re a real one!
Really appreciate the timing on this video, I was on the fence about getting this camera, it had been on my radar, but I was apprehensive about so many people warning about overheating issues and long term performance, seeing that you and your team managed to do a full scale production with it, made me feel a lot better about going with this camera for my line of work!
Can't express enough just how much I will back the ZV-E1. Shocked me and everyone involved throughout the production. No overheating whatsoever. It's pretty crazy for what it is
Every single component came together beautifully Ryan! Completely blown away by what you guys have done. Just WOW!
Appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave such positive feedback! We all worked really hard to make this fun piece come together. Cheers!!
Thank you for taking us on this ride! Loved every bit of it.
Looking forward to what's to come!
👏
Soo glad you enjoyed it
That was awesome to watch! Thanks for sharing Ryan. Can't wait to see the movie!
Thank you Sam!!
I just learned so much watching this video thank you my man I can’t wait to see the finished product , you are amazing dude for real 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Glad to help! I appreciate it!
This was so good. Excited to see the final product. Y’all put a hell of a lot of work into those shots. Excited to see the cinematography
Yoo thank you for checking this out man! Can't wait to share it 🙏
REALLY enjoyed this! Great stuff! Can't wait to watch!
Awesome, thank you!!!
thanks for doing your best for this video. learned a lot!!.
RYAN- totally geeking out about all these lighting setups once again. We love a good bounce moment and book light 💡🤌🏽 if the frames look THAT good just off monitor then I really can't wait to see the real things. Also, I appreciate your appreciation for your crew- and I agree the collaboration process just might be the best part of filmmaking hands down. Can't wait to see the editing breakdown and then the final cut! Also pls let Kylee know that she's killing it! 🎥🔥The roles of AD / PD are both highly important and yet grossly under-appreciated at times :/ lastly, shoutout to whoever shot this video, I really enjoyed it and learned a thing or 2 myself 💯
Ahh!! Can't tell you how much it means to hear this. Such a fun and challenging experience. I'm so glad it translated well through this vid. Can't wait to share the final film. Kylee did truly such an amazing job stepping into these substantial roles. I deeply appreciate your for acknowledging that
Excited to see the full project and especially the pre production work.
Will likely share a full breakdown on our pre production!
Well done Ryan and crew. Loved the BTS and overview of this project. Hoping we get to see the finished project. So crazy that you could shoot it all on that camera, with the amazing glass of course. Oh and the lighting setups here, so cool.
So so glad you enjoyed watching this man! It's really motivating to see all of the positive response to this concept. Hope to do more soon!
yeah at least a couple shots of the actual footage would have been nice, I scrubbed through looking for those
@@mats1975Same dude is trolling.
@@mats1975 yeah like wtf is the point of showing 0% of the outcome, i ended up not even watching the video when i realised he will not show it
I absolutely love this because it's real and you are so refreshing!!
Thank you so much!!
Soooo soothing to watch, loving this bts and overall depth of gear that you talk about. That lens looks beautiful hahaha
Thanks a ton Peter, appreciate you stopping by! The Rangefinders are so so good...
The insights you pick up from BTS videos like this is really invaluable, looking forward to see the film.
It was a fun one to put together. Glad you enjoyed! Thank you!!
This was entertaining and informative. Thank you Ryan. Excited to see what's next.
So glad you enjoyed it man
Many thanks to Small Rig for help and nice gear!
Absolutely! Couldn't have done it without them! Thanks for being here. 🙏
so cool to watch man, great work. It's fun for me to watch someone going through this for the first time because I was just there 1 year ago. Went from a 4 person crew with bad planning to a 20 person crew with meticulous attention to detail in one year. The bottom line for all of us is: Why would I spend my time, money, and energy on a project like this to NOT be at 100%? I had to level up to portray myself better, and I love seeing others do the same!
Appreciate you stopping by Isaac! It was such a fun experience to share this project. Hopefully more soon!
really fun to watch...can't wait to see the finished product!
Can't wait to share! Thanks for the watch Tom!!
Oh man! The team looks amazing. Can't wait for the release!
You and me both! Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing, it was dope
amazing work! RESPECT!
this was really dope to watch. i can tell youre passionate about what you do and know how to pull it together with the resources you are afforded. i've seen other youtubers with millions of subs do the same but their is simply aligning themselves with big name people. this really shows the average creator that you can do this with creativity and passion. thanks plenty
This means a lot! Thanks for checking it out...
Great Job Ryan! so amazing to see this come together
Thanks a ton!
Loved the breakdown and seeing the bts! Real eye opening to se the amount of work! It always surprises me when you se the in camera shot vs the bts! Well done i cant wait to see the finished product 👌🏻
Really appreciate that! Can't wait to share more...
Lets goooo! Love this format and you crushed this edit
AYO.. thank you bro. Want to do more like this ASAP
Good work! Love the idea and - by what we can see so far - it will totally be worth the lack of sleep! Awesome

Absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing can’t wait to review Carousel!
Can't wait to share!!

First feature of DP and Director? Crazy. Such a nice work man!
great job and i cant wait to see more
This is so amazing. Keep going! So inspiring
Thank you so much!!
This was so insanely educational, entertaining, and well made. It really shows that the gear is only a small piece (especially the camera). The lens, lighting, and your talent in all aspects makes so much more of a difference on your final product. Great stuff!
Truly appreciate this. I'm so glad this gave you some value!
Excited to the final product!
So cool man, love watching your growth 🙌🏽
Appreciate it bro!!
This was very interesting and gave me a lot of insight into working on projects like this. Great content as always.

So dope!!! I'm so excited to see this film
Ryan thanks for sharing. I really appreciate the detail given in the bts.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!!
As someone who has always loved the art of Film Making and camera, this was a blast to watch from start to the end. Yes I saw the Title of the video but midway I was like, Waaw that is really a SONY Zv-E1 aah..! Amazing work Guys. 💯
You can easily tell that Team Work make the Dream Work.👏👏
So so glad you liked this one! Hope to do more like this in the future 🙏
this is so cool! im so excited from just seeing this ^^ now it makes me want to try something like this too (although i do just photography) Good luck with editing i can see it turning out so great and thank you for making this project and sharing it, it inspired and motivated me even more to the world of photography, videography and storytelling
🙏🙏 Thanks for being here. Can't wait to share more as we wrap up post production on this. Any specifics you'd like to see?!
One of the BTS is quite detailed and describes how the group works in making films. Thank You.
Thanks for watching!!

Appreciate this! Hoping to get it out as soon as possible
Making Shorties is a crazy ride especially when producing them simultaneously but you take so much from it + good to see you on this journey
Seriously such a crazy form of filmmaking. Can't wait to tackle more soon...

They used the word “like” at least 700 times 😄 Jokes aside, I’m thankful we get to see this type of BTS footage
Awesome job on the BTS video dude, excited to see the flick!!
Legendddd. Thanks for being apart of it brother.
Alexio is the man! Always made sure to have him as my AC on my projects. Glad to see him a part of this crew!!!
Yoo! Legend. Thanks for watching Tim
Looking forward to this Ryan!
Loved it bro 😁
Lighting and sound are so much more important than camera type and lenses
This was amazing!
Thank you!!!!
so good!
Welcome to the world US Zero-Budget Filmmakers live in EVERY DAY my dude🤟I LOVE IT! I'm a Guerilla Filmmaker for LIFE😎🔥🎞🎬🎥
🙏🙏 It's a wild ride but we're here 😅
Thank you for taking us in this process with you. Loved how you were so vocal about the artistic direction and appreciative of the inputs of other crew members. Also loved the cohesion on set. Can’t wait to see the final result.
Thank YOU for watching and letting me know!! Hope to share more like this very soon 🙏
Nice you two.😊 proud
Amazing bro 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Glad you liked it!!
The difference between a CINEMATOGRAPHER and a DP....as a cinematographer you just like to make things look nice. As a DP you have a crew you have to manage and a cast depending on you to make them look good. Nice job being a DP bro
Dude, yes!
🙏
Those lenses 🤩
Literally the best... 🙏
Awesome work and yes, when I made my two independent featurefilms the biggest amount of the money went to feeding the crew as well😂 My sisters are not into filmmaking but they helped me out allot with cooking for the crew every day, lunch, diner and wrap snack, drinks, candy & fruit. With about 25 to 30 shooting days and about 20-30 people cast/crew a day it still adds up quick. We budgetted about 200 bucks a day (about 7,50 per person a day) and that worked out when you have people for you that go to the grocerystore, cook and deliver on set for you. Like my sisters did. Sometimes they did the cooking at their own place and then did the heatup on set. So yeah for featurefilms that are independent with low to no budget need to add these costs to the list, great for pointing this out. Gotta keep the people on set happy, good food is a great motivator😂
Suchhh an underrated point. Cool to hear your story about it. Truly was so much more tedious than my wife and I could have imagined going into it. But 100%, good food = happy people
Awesome man
Thanks for the visit
I LOVE THIS 🤟
Mann you killed this edit Ryan🤌🏼
Couldn't have done it without you bro!!!
Just saw the film and had to look if there was a Bts, so glad you did it!
I’m heading into a 48 hrs contest next week as a DP and I’m a bit nervous, stuff like this really do help a lot. Thanks!
