Hi Egils, I am not clear on the initial movement of the man,s feet. In the beginners video you start with the left foot. However, in the reverse turn video you start with the right. Can you explain please?
    Frank
    Thank you

Hi Franklin, thanks for your question. Man starts Natural Turn (also Natural Box) with Right Foot forward. Man starts Reverse Turn (and Reverse Box) with left foot forward. Hope it helps.

What is the difference between reverse turn and natural turn.

Reverse Turn turns to left, but Natural Turn turn to right.

Egils, wish to ask a question about the Reverse Turn.
In your video, on the last routine you showed using the reverse turn, you pretty much moved diagonally across the floor and the reverse turn appeared to be doing almost 180 degree turn each time.
The reverse turn figure is a total of 2 parts, (3 steps each) and I know we can divide it and use either the first part of the last part in our dance routines.
I wanted to ask, "What is the maximum amount of turn we can do in the reverse turn (international Waltz) in either part?" (maximum in turn to complete the first part or the last part).
    Thanks

Basic Amount of Turn in one Bar should be of course 3/8 or 135 degrees. But it's possible to make more, I think 180 degrees is close to maximum. I admit that it would be better if I would show basic amount in this video.

+Egils Smagris : thanks for the reply. I now realize that it can be more than 3/8 and realize that anything past 180 degrees is making the figure more a spin turn than a reverse turn.
      Also, I should also ask:
"In one bar, the standard then is 3/8 turn (on the average), so, "on the average" can that amount be less like 1/8 turn or is it suppose to be around 3/8 always -- or -- can it be between 1/8 to 3/8 turn depending on the routine and space on the floor?
I am asking because I am practicing for competition and want to ensure I am applying and doing the figure correctly so with your knowledge and experience I hope to find what I can do in a particular figure and what I cannot or should not do. (Thanks).

For competiotion dancing, depending on Routine it can be 1/4 turn. For Natural Turn example would be if you dance 1-3 of Natural Spin Turn and it happens in corner. If it becomes 1/8 of a Turn then it looks to me moore like Closed Change. Because of floorcraft it can happen and it's better than bumping into other couple. ;)

+Egils Smagris Just want to confirm if I understood you correctly.
Reverse turn can be 1/4 turn as a smaller amount of turn, but because of floor-craft, the reverse turn can occur with only 1/8 turn if it avoids collisions on the floor. So basically the amount of turn, in general, without any collisions, on the average, is about 1/4 to 3/8 turn.
      Did I get that correctly?

Yes, correct. You can also practice how to lead your partner in case you need to avoid collisions in competition, so that she is able you to follow.
