Well done....Preston would never supply replacement parts, they would say bye a new one....shows them up for a major fault in there design...well done for finding the problem and the cheaper solution👍👍
Thanks for watching😊👍
My sons has stopped working
Pity ive only just seen this as i think hes chucked it now 🥴
Love watching your 'in the shed' tinkering vids 😃 keep em coming John cheers 👍👍
I can't believe how any people have had problems with them. 🤦
Hi thanks for the help took the inside out of a cheap one and repaired my preston clicker
😊👍
Just a fancy case for a mechanism knocked out by the tens, if not hundreds of thousands, can't say I'm surprised. If I ever find the need to buy one I'll be pulling it apart straight away to rust-proof, and maybe glue a bit of clear plasticard (abs/styrene sheet) or similar over the hole.
That would be wise
I added a thin piece of rigid clear plastic to the inside of the opening to stop water getting in
Good idea will definitely prolong it's life
Well done Jon just show's how practical you are instead of throwing it away and spending another £20 squid lol, Thank you,
Thanks for watching again James😊👍
Good insight and explanation John. Rather than by over priced Preston buy a couple eBay clickers and place then in polythene small zipper food bags water/dirt proof on one 👍
I didn't buy one mate, it's a friend's, I make my own clicker holder😊👍
@@AverageAngler no I knew it was your buddies, you mentioned it in video. I also make my own stop watch and clicker stations that attach to side tray. My remark was to anyone buying the over priced Preston or using EBay cheap basic, to put it in polythene zipper food bags the keep the wet and muck from getting mechanicals during session👍
Sounds like a good idea to me👍, thanks for watching
I put a strip of cello tape over the numbers on 2 stop water ground bait etc getting in got 2 had em around 2yrs now no probs so far
That was a wise move, it's the water that has done all the damage.
@@AverageAngler 100% mate soon as I got mine was like that’s gonna fail so as water ground bait etc gets in hence why I put tape over it.for the price you’d of thought they’d of finished the product off properly
True
So best to buy a cheap clicker with a cover and just use that ? Maybe Preston dont think we fish in the rain !!
The mech on my absolute pole roller done the same thing in the rain .
Really? I was thinking of upgrading to a preston absolute roller?
@@AverageAngler The blue mech buttons you use to tilt the side small rollers stuck down after using it in the rain. Had to let it dry out , prize the buttons upwards with a knife and put oil down the side to free them . Otherwise send back to the tackle shop at my expense . £160.00 Maybe i was unlucky . Should of purchased the Garbolino or new map ones .
😮
Got sick of mine faiiing, also changed the inners with a cheap ebay one, filled with groundbait and rain again. Bought a fancy Matrix digital one instead haha
They just needed a window over the numbers, bit of an over sight really.
Mine failed after 2 matches utter crap. Gone back to a cheap one thats never let me down
That's not right did you take it back? Must have been a faulty mechanism.
@AverageAngler no got frustrated and lobbed it wish I'd kept it after watching your vid 👍
☹️☹️
Not great, costs 400% more than a cheap one and rusts away. Did you ask Preston for a comment. A young angler I know bought the 3 clicker one , over £30 so bad news.
Not ideal really only needs a window over the numbers
