    Wish Rusty was still here with us.

      That was a great video! Great music! Was that the cats?
      It was also great to see Rusty in a shot! We've had 3 Elkhounds and when we got our Blue Tick Coon Hound, I looked over the eastern half of the country go adopt an Elkhound (including Texas) and couldn't find one! Coon Hounds are not for people our age! We only rescue dogs. We don't buy them...
      But that's an amazing truck! I've always wanted to have a hot rod, but haven't had a place to work on it.

    Hello Uncle Doug, Wow, what a project, you don't cut any corners. Very nice work, for a man who never sleeps, you truly are a busy man. Sweet '28, nothing like a truck, they are just cool. I see Rusty lent a helping paw. Now I see why the Jeep you had was so nice. Take some rest, all the best, C.

    Wait a minute, 30 Coupe, 34 Truck AND a 30 Pickup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have three Hot Rods at the same time and you do them all up with Fresh drive train, disc brakes and interior, OMG!!!!!! I am now so jealous! There was a time when i had 3 Corvettes, a 64 Coupe 468 Blown Dragster, a 81 Supercharged 355 700R4 and a Supercharged 98 6 speed coupe, but that only lasted a 1 year as the Dot Bomb in the late 90s wiped me out and i had to unload the 64 and the 81, Sadly. You do exactly the updated that make good sense. Very nice work and result. That's just amazing. Then I see "Lets go shopping for a Hot Rod" WHAT? WHAT? Not another one????? My head is going to explode Dougie, your making me crazy. I going back to my 5F1 Amp project. i have overdosed on Hot Rods. Don't stop, please, really enjoying the ride. Great stuff out there. All the Best, Dennis

    Great video and subbed here too! A mind-boggling amount of work to turn that hunk of rust into the cool hot rod. I've got maybe 15-20 years before retirement. I think I'll stick to hobbies that involve strings, tubes, and solder...

    What a great job, you remind me of myself. Once you start, there’s no rest until the job is done. Like the chicken wire, didn’t Ford use it to connect up an aerial for an optional radio ?
    Anyway, have some more of your videos to watch & catch up to the new ones. Glad I subscribed to the channel 👍.

    my god thats alot of hard work but turned out Great!!!! have you ever tried using white vinegar to treat rust ? 1part vinegar to 2 parts water just brush it on ,it wont do alot to heavy rust but works well to preserve the metal turns it white and will eat rust for most part just a inexpensive way to treat bare metal

    • @uncledougshotrodgarage6049

      I used that method to clean out the rusty old original gas tank, Joe, with nuts and bolts and a big, heavy chain for good measure. It worked well.

      One each of the rods I have built, I use Speedway parts: 4" dropped front axle, teflon-spaced spring, Ford spindles, and metric-GM disc brakes. See my other videos showing a step-by-step build.

      Thanks for your kind comments, Dany. I intended to keep it, but a very nice man in a McDonalds parking lot convinced me to sell it to him. He's still driving it frequently, after a couple years with no problems at all. I see him from time to time at car shows.

      The ad never mentioned the word "rust"......and the car was a rusted mess. I never tried to start the original engine, but sold it to a local restorer to help defray my expenses.

    Hi Doug! Why is it called "hot rod"?

    • @uncledougshotrodgarage6049
      @uncledougshotrodgarage6049  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a good question, O. The term "rod" was invented in the late-40's-early 50's for a stripped down old car. I guess the "hot" part just described its ability to go much faster than the original cars did.

    • @DennisMurphey
      @DennisMurphey 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@uncledougshotrodgarage6049 I bet you with the babbit rods in the Flat Head V8 the racers on Bonneville salt flats had to deal with over heating the rod bearing and failing at speed! Hence Hot Rods were coined to describe modified and risky high performance of the day. Or Rod was slang for ride and I am just all wet.
