This song was playing during the school dance in Back to the Future when Marty started playing the guitar with the band and watching his parents dance

I graduated HS in 1956 and we played this song all the time. I saw the Penguins in concert in New Orleans back then along with few other groups. This was one of the songs played at our Prom. Really great slow dancing music where couples actually used to dance.

There was a time in the 70s when the 50s became popular again. I love(d) this music. The purity of the voices and simplicity of the lyrics.

Give a listen to In The Still Of The Night by the Five Satins. Many people consider it the greatest doo woo song of all time.

This song was in the part of the movie when Michael J Fox was slowly disappearing, while he was on stage. Immediately following this song, they asked Marty to do a song that really cooks and he said this next song is an oldie, where he came from, and then launches into Johnny B Goode.

  • @stephenpolicoff292

7th grade, 12 years old… this was number one for a very long time. We had sock hops, at lunch you could go to the boys gym for a nickel and watch the big kids dance. The sock hop was a big deal, they called it that because the gym floor was brand new and they wanted to keep it that way. . just watch the big kids slow dance to this… it was simple pleasures.

I think the song best known from Back To The Future is "The Power Of Love" by Huey Lewis And The News. They play that in the beginning of the movie where Marty realizes he's late for school and is skateboarding behind a jeep to get to school as fast as possible.

Phil Collins. I wasn't born when this came out but I like it. Songs from this era remind me of my mom because she would be listening to these songs on Saturday morning when she ironed clothes. Back then there were no steam irons so she would sprinkle water on the clothes to get the tough wrinkles out, man that brought back an old memory. If you like this song listen to Who Wrote The Book Of Love by The Monotones.

I discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and have been addicted ever since. I have watched hundreds of your reaction videos, sometimes staying up past 1 in the morning because I can't stop clicking on the next video! You have introduced me to much great new music that I would otherwise never of heard of, but my favorites are Oldies like this one. (Maybe because I am an Old Fart!). I think you need to go further back, although I suppose it's hard to find video the further back you go. Please consider playing some Fats Waller (1904-1943), such as "Who's honey are you," "I ain't got nobody," or "Louisiana Fairy Tale." Also you are so far missing out on some of the greatest rock artists of the 1960s, such as The Kinks, Bob Dylan, later Beach Boys (How about Good Vibrations?) and Brian Wilson's solo work (anything off the Orange Crate Art album!) And if you really want to hear the best of 20th Century music try some Captain Beefheart! Look for some live videos of his Magic Band performing "Click Clack," "When Big Joan sets up," or "I'm going to booglarize you Baby." Thanks for the entertainment!

This was one of the first R&B songs to cross over to the white charts.
It was covered by the Crew-Cuts because white DJs liked to play white singers instead of black singers, but the Penguins' version was more popular.

Here you go Ty & everyone. Where this comes from in Back To The Future. The MOST pivotal scene in the movie actually.
"Earth Angel & Johnny B. Goode" by Marty Mcfly, Back To The Future 1985/1955
    th-cam.com/video/2Sm8mruGq7s/w-d-xo.html
(A small bit of dialog between Marty and the band regarding how to play Johnny B. Goode was omitted) "It's a Blues riff in B, watch me for the changes, and try and keep up". (Something like that...from my memory.)

hahah yeah man it's perfect for like a 50s diner or a prom, in fact it was in the prom scene in BTF just like Johnny B. Goode. I remember a substitute teacher in music class mentioning this song once and saying its from Back to the Future, and also the first time that I heard it was when I watched the movie when I was like 14. And yeah...that "remember" you sung has to be from "Do you remember the time" by Michael Jackson, hahaha.

Agree in general, although in the 80's there still were some great songs but you had to look a little harder for them. They didn't permeate the air waves like in the 50's through 70's. But when the 90's came along, the music died completely!

Heres a complete recording of the scene with both songs. It's not as high resolution as the other one below, but it doesn't leave out the dialog between the two songs.
"Earth Angel and Johnny B. Goode", Marty Mcfly, Back To The Future. (whole scene including between song dialog, unfortunately lower resolution)
