    this is what i needed to see, thanks. Took me going through 50 or more vid's before this one came up. The others had the flange already installed. I wanted to see it from cutting it down. thanks

    Very helpful. Even my plumber could not figure out how to install the floor drainage toilet.
    This saved the day.

    Pretty sure the issue you ran across with the 4th concrete screw was you hit a piece of metal re-rod bar. they lay that through out the concrete when they pour it. Great video BTW, very step by step, clear and to the point thanks!

    Thanks for the very specific directions. Easier than I thought it would be!

    If you could not drill down you may have hit some of the rebar that is used to hold the concrete together.

    This fits my exact scenario! Thank you

    Good comments. Great video in detail. Your 4th screw may have also meant you needed another bit. The bits get ate up fast in concrete. The same with metal I went throug cobalt bits changing out an old style balljoint. The rivets just are them up.

      I think it hit rebar or a rock.

    Excellent. I used to teach in the military so every soldier could understand. Now, that's the way you did it. It's almost idiot proof (there's always one in the crowd)

    Nice toilet install. Good choice of toilet too. I love american standard toilets. 😊

      Thanks Dave. This was the cheapest toilet at Lowes, and also had the best reviews.

    Could be a piece of rebar as to why you couldn't drill in the concrete.

  • @lukastorres6903
    @lukastorres6903 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another reason could be the you hit rocks that was mixed with concrete, I'm trying to do same thing and is a pain to go through the rocks...

    • @gregs_garage
      @gregs_garage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      either rebar or a rock. it is a pain and 20% of the time it seems to happen

    put the wax ring on the toilet not the flange. you want to guarantee a good seal.

      figured it was easier on the ground. never had a leak doing it like this.

    This looks very similar to what my builder roughed in my basement. Did you already have a soil stack, or was it necessary to tie in to your existing stack?

    Are people still caulking around the base of the toilet and the ground? Very good video. I've never started a project from the beginning before. Does anyone know of a site I could go to that would help out? I want to do a bathroom downstairs and I'm starting from just the capped pipes coming from the floor?

    • @gregs_garage
      @gregs_garage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tim Agnello I don’t think you need to caulk around the bottom. For your project I would just start and tackle each problem as it comes. None of us were born knowing how to do any of this!

    • @jamesc1283
      @jamesc1283 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was told once that if you do caulk, only do it around the sides and front - leave the back open. That way if you do develop a leak you’ll see it, and the water won’t be trapped under the toilet.

    haha there is no side to side because u maxed out the flange. it could be twisted u just did that one little small part wrong i am plumber 55+ years

    if you had opportunity is it best to install the flange on the concrete floor or ontop of the finished tile floor?

    • @gregs_garage
      @gregs_garage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      probably both would work. May be cleaner to mount on finished floor rather than tiling around the flange.

    I wouldn't use glue for that connection. You may have to remove it in the future. Silicone might be a better choice.

    • @gregs_garage
      @gregs_garage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      what glue? That is a tube of silicone

      yes. I wonder what happens if you shoot one of those gun nails into it?

  • @1joshjosh1

    Could have been a stupidly hard rock.
    Even a small super hard rock in the mix will stop the most determined concrete drill bit.
