I was living in Memphis. Bought this 8 track and saw them at Mid South Coliseum. I was going to college. Had just bought a 73 Chevelle SS. Driving down the expressway, listening to Skynyrd blasting and see blue lights in the rear view. I pull over, the cops says young lady, do you know how fast you were going. Honestly, I had no clue. He said 80 in a 55 and I've been following you for 5 miles. I could arrest you for 20 mph over. And you were 25. So I start crying and telling him how I'd seen Lynyrd Skynyrd the night before and I'd just bought the car and the 8 track and I had it so loud I couldn't hear anything. I said, I'm really sorry. After he gave me a big lecture I lucked out and he let me go. No ticket. Maybe he was a Skynyrd fan, too
1976, Bicentennial year was a great year for rock n roll, especially the live album...Skynyrd, Rush, Frampton and Seger all had double live albums that year. All kick-ass, all good. Back then bands went on stage and kicked out versions of their songs that smoked their album versions. Live, real, raw, heart, soul, passion and grit. No electronic bullshit. It'll never be this good again but thank God we still have this timeless music. Long live rock!
What a fantastic year that was for Rock 'N' Roll altogether! Those four live albums that you mentioned are among the greatest of all time and I still listen to all of them.
