Wonderful warm, party atmosphere at this last London gig of the year, and what a beauty it is.
The perfect venue for them to showcase their flamboyant, theatrical and spellbinding show.
It's been an amazing year for them (their first gig was in Nov 2021) and the future looks rosy too.

I've been waiting years for a band this interesting to come along, there have been some good ones the last few years, but the last time I was this excited about seeing a band live it was the early 90s.
They certainly have landed very emphatically. I'm sure they'll be a household name very soon.
theyre cool yes.
GenX here. I have to agree. Finally a good band that actually plays instruments and uses their own voice without tweaking it with technology. Good stage presence. Reminds me a little of Siouxsie Sioux.
@@freebird9278 💜💜💜 definitely got it all going for them.
💜💜💜 you said it.
Abagail is absolutely destined for greatness. She has star power. After listening to Nothing Matters 100 times over the last few days I had to find more from them, and stumbled on this video. Loved the sounds, the visuals, the filming, the audience, the lighting, the costumes... great stuff. Can't wait for an album.
Thank you. This is my favourite live video of them, though not the most watched of them. The band have fought to have these four early appearances preserved on my channel, at least for now. As you rightly say, they are heading toward some very dizzy heights, and this gig was a memorable milestone along the way. I got to meet some beaming and very proud mamas ( and a papa) at this show.
@@LouSmith that's so sweet! I can imagine they are very proud ❤💕 I'm going to see them open for Hozier at the end of November and couldn't be more excited. Thank you for the video! :)
@@Lisa-qt4hh have fun! 🙏
@@LouSmith thank you!!! :)
That singer has the best stage presence I’ve ever seen.
She's up with the best of them. Always looks to be thoroughly enjoying herself too. Very refreshing after the surly dick swinging that has passed before our hours in recent times.
I'm not criticising her, she's good but fundamentally she just throws herself around the stage. 'Presence' amounts to more than that. I can think of half a dozen female from women in Norway alone that have more.
Saw these guys this weekend at The Great Escape festival… completely and utterly mind blown. I had no idea who they were, just walking into Chalk venue and watched magic unfold before my eyes. Quite possibly the best live performance I’ve ever seen. Lead singer didn’t break character the whole time, a proper performance, a show! How they are not wildly famous yet and only have one song on streaming platforms is beyond me. Can’t wait to see what happens with these girls in the near future. Big things, I’m sure. I’m not one for commenting on TH-cam, but thanks so much for sharing this!
Thanks Matthew. I was the same when I first saw them little more than a year ago. They only formed in the previous summer, so have catapulted to where they are now ( They supported the Rolling Stones at Hyde park last May ) in double-quick time, and releases haven't caught up with them yet. I'm as sure as you are that we're going to be hearing a whole lot more from them. Thanks for commenting.
There was a bit of a gap with BCNR, Squid, Black Midi. Good to see a new wave of really good bands like these, Opus Kink and Bad Neves. Definitely my favourite all female band. Whatever that got to do with music?
I just found this group recently and god, I NEED an album so badly ❤
💜💜💜
Great songs and star power, this band will be massive.
All of the above!
Damn!! I really hope they put out a record soon.
Most exciting band I’ve seen/heard for a very long time.
First song, I was thinking: lead vocal mic needs to be louder. End of first song: lead singer indicates to sound engineer that they’d like their mic to be turned up.
Still not quite loud enough. Come on, sound engineer!! MOAR VOCAL.
Still an exceptional performance. Thank you all. New favourite band. xx
They’re definitely taking the musical world by storm, and rightly so. Whilst this was my favourite of the gigs I filmed because of the partisan crowd, the flushed-with-success homecoming gig vibe and The Moth Club being a suitably sparkly venue for them, for better sound quality, I would suggest the XOYO gig, as there is a room recorder helping to capture the sound, rather than just the camera mic as in this one. When onstage musicians make requests of the sound engineer like that, it is usually for them to raise or lower the relative volumes of different elements which they hear onstage via the backward-facing monitors in order for them to hear their parts, or the parts they rely on for timing, pitch etc. rather than the overall mix of the output through the PA. Because I stand so close to the stage, I am often not capturing the overall mix as others in the room may hear it. Anyway, they’re fully on the runway to an epic future now, so we can sit back and watch them soar.
saw them live two days ago while i was waiting for arctic monkeys. i didn't know who they were but i felt sooo captivated by them and they were definitely one of the best concerts i saw at the festival!! can't wait for the album and for everyone to become as obsessed with them as i am
That’s how I felt when I first saw them. It’s nice also to have an obsession that not everyone shares.
That's real effort in their costumes
Indeed. I’m sure there’ll be a queue of designers dying to drape these gals.
I need an album like yesterday!
Well you’ve got these free videos to keep you from withdrawal until that happens.
MESMERISING. best performers i have ever seen.
There are different sorts of amazing performers out there, and I’ve witnessed many of them. These gals are definitely in the top drawer. Abi has great stagecraft, and can win over any audience.
I feel the ghost of Lemmy Kilmister is crouched over on a bar stool with a cigarette and a whiskey and coke, smiling to himself, glad that rock n' roll is still here.
And how!
Thank you for posting this! This band is amazing can't wait to hear more 😁
🙏 they are. I’m sure there is very much more to come.
That Sound of the Underground cover at the end is MAJESTIC I was not ready hahaha
Haha! Yes, there a kind of pregnant pause after Godzilla, waiting for Emily to kick in with the opening riff, before it took right off.
This band is so talented. Unbelievable.
Definitely. Just watch them go now.
revisiting after watching them live for the second time, i am in awe
They have been known to have that effect!
Another great vid Lou! Really appreciate all the shows you've taped and shared!
Thanks Herman. It’s a pleasure. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this one. There’s an interview where these videos get a mention which you may like to read. www.undertheradarmag.com/interviews/the_last_dinner_party_on_comparisons_hype_debut_single_nothing_matters

The coolest band ever!!!!!!

I have not been this enchanted / taken by a band in I don't know how long ! wow. in love. THANK YOU! this is revolutionary - special.

Just brilliant
Loved this show.
Brilliant gig at The Deaf Institute in Manchester Friday evening. Always looking out for something exciting, fresh and that offers variety - which is especially hard to find in a band these days. The Last Dinner Party definitely tick those boxes!
They must be picking up so much confidence with all this festival and gigging practice. I must try and catch them at their London shows.
My new obsession. So f*cking good! Seeing them live in Nottingham for the first time on Saturday (22/07). Cannot wait! 🖤
Woo! You’re not gonna be disappointed.
They're playing Rock Werchter this year. Very excited to see them play there.
So you should be!
Lady of mercy is a huge track
There’s a few massive tracks here. By your side is pretty huge.
I haven't seen any artist having this kind of effect on people for decades!
I know, right. When I was editing the first video I took of them I had goosebumps. That’s the sign for me.
Yeah that's how I felt the first time I saw this, unbelievable band in so many ways
I do believe you're smitten sir!
Usually I’ll dig up a video like this of super bands years after they are playing arenas. This is so cool to see one so recent before they reach that level. And this band will reach that level. Thanks for posting this. The band is great, tight, fun, beautiful but I agree with what others said too, Abigail is going to be a star as the lead singer and long after.
Thank you for your comment. I hope I'll get to keep these videos online long after they got that level. It was a special gig this one to which I was cordially invited, and thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the spectacle of something I knew was set to explode. Still only a dozen or so gigs into their career here, and already magical.
Thank you Lou! I just watched your vid of the show from XOYO and immediately started this one.
Aww. Thanks so much. Tbh of the two performances, I prefer this one, as it’s a favourite venue of mine, and one that suits them very well. It feels more intimate, and obviously the crowd are having much more of a party. I love the way Abi so gently requests the photographers to allow a little mosh pit to happen which really shakes things up, and I eventually managed to sneak around behind the other photographers to get my shots from the side of the stage. Brilliant lighting too.
@@LouSmithIt really is a great performance and you captured them so well. I’ve been rewatching all of your shows of them again recently as each are brilliant and magical. But, you’re right, there is something a little “brighter” about this one.
🙏. Yes, it’s a great overall performance this. I do hope to be able to see them in another intimate venue like this one.
Just came across this. Never heard of the band before. Wow, absolutely fab. Well crafted songs, especially Sinner, Nothing Matters.
Hope you get proper British tour as well as a good producer as Im looking forward to hearing much more from The Last Dinner Party :)
I like that everyone has a favourite song.
These ladies need to open for St. Vincent. That would be an awesome show.
They've opened for The Stones, so anything is possible.
I can't wait to listen to them this evening at Hare and Hounds in Birmingham
Have a great one. You can come back here anytime to relive it.
They were the best band I've seen at the hare
FMTT. So in love!
Easily done.
Class
Pure.
Never thought I'd ever see a moshpit break out to Sound of the Underground 😂
First time for everything.
So many things that can make a woman beautiful, this young lady is so mezmarizing to watch. I can’t take my eyes off her. Never heard of this group till a few months ago. I just stumble one of there videos. Same thing happened last year never heard of a group called 1975, they have some serious good music.
Abi's absolutely their ace card in a very strong hand. She can charm a room of any size, and will doubtless be charming stadia before long. This was a particularly wonderful vibe playing the moth club.
I need burn alive to be released so bad❤
It will all be released in due course, I’m sure. In the meantime, savour this version.
@@LouSmith i absolutely will, it only elongates my anticipation for what this band is gonna do!🤍
💜💜💜
It's actually like when I heard Kate Bush for the first time when I was about 5. A cut-off point.
I remember that moment though from a ten year older perspective and even saw her in what was to be her only tour for decades. I was very happy to discover these beauties in a repurposed car MOT garage in Millwall decades later.
wow! new fan here, been listening to them non stop for the last 3 days but i had never heard them play 'sound of the underground' have they been leaving it out! it's a brilliant track for getting the audience involved as one.
Yes. The double whammy of that and Godzilla make for the perfect outro. This was a special gig as it marked their return to home turf after what must have convinced them of their glittering future, so emotions were high.
Wow they’re quite good
They are.
i need an album now
You must be a millennial?
Why has this band not released an album? A band this great, with no gimmicks or audio "wizardry" need their gift recorded and listened by the masses.
It's coming, I'm sure. 🙂
I think much of their gift is recorded by now, but equally sure that much remains. The masses are in for a treat. Radio 6 music this afternoon 7/07/ at 5.30pm to listen live.
I’m sure. 💜
Godzilla is fookin brilliant! ❤
The whole encore was great.
@@LouSmith Friggin love them! And Picture Parlour, so glad I discovered these two bands whilst being off work sick. Made up, love 'em!
@craggleb8519 I discovered both of them within a month of each other. Unfortunately I had to pull my video of Picture Parlour by order of their management, but happily was allowed to keep my four TLDP ones. It doesn’t seem to have hurt them any😅
@@LouSmith I'm stoked to hear new music from them both, TLDP played down the road from me in Oxford last year, I didn't know about them then, grr.
@@Twanger..the one that got away! I’m a great advocate of seeing bands in intimate venues, though I have no doubt that they will live up to the stadium stages that surely wait them.
They’re great because there are nods to lot of well known bands without sounding quite like any of them. Abigail’s peacocking seems to have gone up a level from the footage from a few month’s before. Can’t wait until Latitude this Friday!
I like this summation. I’m getting a bit bored of the list of bands they’re a hybrid of. The truth is they’re not like any of them in the whole. Abigail was clearly born to peacock the world. Say hi for me.
I've been getting into this band and thanks for this great concert footage. You seem like a big fan, glad for you that you were following them from the start. There has been a lot of hype about them which is justified and some negativity about their rapid rise to prominence which I feel is groundless. My Lady Of Mercy is an excellent song, the others are good too.
Were they called The Dinner Party at the time that you recorded this, and then they added the Last later? Just wondering because of your title at 45s.
Thank you. Yes, I was smitten at first encounter, as many have been since. They’ve been very effusive about how appearing on my channel started the ball rolling with respect to industry interest/excitement. I’m very happy about that, as it’s a pretty rare occurrence. And yes, they were formally the Dinner Party, but it turned out that name was already taken as a project of musician Kamasi Washington. If you have time and inclination, there is a piece here that covers some of the topics you raised. I can’t honestly see any grounds for the negativity, other than the fact that they are a talented band of beautiful young women who’ve really done their homework regarding performance and songwriting, and are deservedly poised to become household names. www.undertheradarmag.com/interviews/the_last_dinner_party_on_comparisons_hype_debut_single_nothing_matters
@@LouSmith thanks for the link, that's an excellent article. You must be really pleased to have that acknowledgement from them for your videos, great stuff. They sound like a good laugh too and exude confidence - I read that they jokingly had a dig at The Rolling Stones which is pretty ballsy. Interesting about the band name, I guess adding the Last makes it more dramatic so it's a good adjustment. I did mention the criticism and it's unfair, it seems to come from jealousy of them becoming so big so fast. I see that their debut album will be released in February and they'll be playing big arenas and festival stages next year, that's a given. Glad to find your channel too, I love discovering new bands so I'll have a good old rummage through :)
And then Little Richard raises a daiquiri and nudges Lemmy, they clink glasses
Now I’m thirsty!
February 2nd 2024!!
Oh yes! Nearly my birthday.
Too bad that on every live I've watched you don't clearly hear the main vocal. It's always hidden by the instruments. Seeing them in few months, I wanted to discover what I was getting myself into. I guess it'll be a surprise still !
Live recordings are exactly that. The experience of live music has as much to do with the atmosphere in the room, as the high fidelity of the amplification, which only gets harder the larger the venue. That said, this recording from XOYO is the best audio of my recordings th-cam.com/video/B8oauEtz-7s/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=LouSmith They have a dedicated sound and lighting team these days, so will get the best out of the equipment they have to work with. I think you'll have a great time if you can just feel it.
The lyrics have really developed, quite different to the album!
Any idea when burn alive will be available?
Well we’re fast approaching the album release date, (February) with four singles released already. I guess there could be another release b4 Christmas. You never know.
Abigail Morris has real charisma
Definitely born to wrap an audience around her little finger.
@@LouSmith for the 15 minutes that they’re the flavour of the month, at least
@@InspirationSessions you don’t think they have legs beyond that? I think they have depth, great songwriting as well as a knockout delivery. I think they could run and run personally.
@@LouSmith I’d be pleased to see them do that, don’t get me wrong - just wary of the usual musical hype curve. Remember Menswear? 😆
Haha! Case in point. No I don’t! I just feel that these gals are smart and focused, and a major label has put their faith in them. Pretty much any song from these sets could be a single, due to their infectious hooks, but have enough musical complexity to make them keepers. I really hope so anyway. Time will tell eh?
This is my favorite Last Dinner Party video, but it makes me wonder: who is the guy playing the drums? Is he a member of the band, or just hired for the gig?
He sounds great
I think a couple of people have said that, including myself. The other videos I posted had a guy called Rhys on drums, but this time I think a session musician joined them. The lighting, costumes and vibes at this gig were really special. It's also probably the last gig of theirs that I'll film too due to copyright restrictions etc. They've been gracious in allowing these four recordings off mine to stand at least for now as a record of their brief journey through the grass roots venues of London, before they were swept aloft.
It was Casper Miles for this show. Isis Dunthorne was playing for a while after Casper and before Rebekah. Casper’s with them again currently.
@sah-win thanks for the precision answer!
Omg, your drummer is Jamie Fraser
That must be good, right?
@@LouSmith ahaha yessir, i was just saying that their drummer looks like Outlander’s character Jamie Fraser, that seemed funny to me
@thejusticeprice2872 I see. I'm not good with actual celebs!
@@LouSmith no worries! But take a look on google, you’ll see they’re pretty much alike 😄
Am I missing something. Why is it just "The Dinner Party" in the title credits? Did they have to later change their name due to copyright etc?
You got it. Can’t remember the artist just now, but I’m sure you can find it if you’re interested. It was the name of a project they were curating. TLDP lawyer and label would have been very thorough to make sure nothing would upset the proposed roll out of what is obviously going to be a meteoric success story.
@@LouSmith Cheers Lou. Last Dinner Party is a better name anyway, imo. It has the religious link which is prevalent in a lot of their lyrics. I know the singer said she went to catholic school.
Yeah. I think they’re quite happy with how it worked out.
These Girls remind me at the Dresden Dolls.
Hmm not seeing it myself. A bit with the cabaret style theatrics maybe.
@@LouSmith Dresden Dolls were Cabaret Style !
Yes, I got that bit. There are definite parallels in the inspiration.
Why the Mic is so low?
Probably trying to match your manners.
Sonic Youth and Florence and the Machine these guys remind me of, not bad company, lol definitely not Bad Company
T e each their own. Personally any comparisons seen redundant when we can listen to the whole thing and decide things for ourselves.
@@LouSmith you might want to watch the Front Row interview Georgia and Abigail do, Georgia clearly says Florence and The Machine are a huge influence
Doesn't that prove my point? Georgia said it. To repeat what has already been said is the definition of redundancy. Anyway, I'm not here to split hairs, just to share the music I love with the widest possible audience with the express hope that other people will come to love it too. With TLDP, I'm proud to say, that has proved to be the case beyond my wildest expectations.
Is Godzilla one of their own songs or is it a cover? It’s not on their new album
I think it must be one of theirs. It would be weird to do an encore of two covers wouldn't it?
@@LouSmiththat’s what I thought as well. Maybe they thought it wasn’t strong enough for the album or it might be the next single after the album comes out ?
@masonchin4705 we shall see! It's a great live song anyway. The way Abi introduced it here suggests it was an expected highpoint.
It's one of their favourites to play live and also a firm fan favourite. I don't think there is anything more sinister than it didn't really fit with the rest of the songs on the album. Their sound is evolving and as much as I love PTE their unreleased songs in their live set are even better. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Godzilla is the next single.@@masonchin4705
@@masonchin4705 We will see it at some point, maybe a limited edition 7", just act fast when the announcement comes that is my advice 🙂

Is she playing a St Vincent signature guitar? Makes them even cooler
I think so.
their aesthetics is amazing! they remind me of a sofia coppola movie, just perfect! 😫
Yup! They’re a cinematographer’s dream. Then there’s the songs …
Beautiful Boy has a strong Kate Bush sense to it ❤
I can see that. Early arrangement particularly.

@@LouSmith awesome camera work mate its never boring as you pan around and show whats going on! Should go into being a camera person
Thanks. Yes, sometimes it all comes together. Their lighting person is really great which really makes it. Manages to feel intimate despite the large crowd of photographers.
@@LouSmith hahahaa see this bands lighting person is even good! Honestly yeah man i gotta agree with that
Yep! They’re on it. The first gig I filmed, and their fourth, only had one red light, and that was Aurore’s keyboard light which I persuaded her to put on the other end of her keyboard so at least some light could spill onto Abi and the rest of them. They sure upped their game since then.
I love literally everything about this band but I gotta give extra props to the OUTFITS OML THEY'RE SOO GOOD😭😭
💜💜💜
I need Abigail’s shirt
As an addendum to the Mirror comment - that could have easily been on Portishead's debut album - it is THAT good
We know we’re on course with our content when comments garner addenda! They are very good. By your Side is my tear jerker.
Ridiculously good. Emily is a pocket rocket with a Prog twist - I mean, E-Bow and Flute alongside some pretty damn-good lead guitar. Mirror is (among many other - including Nothing Matters, obviously) a brilliant track. The last time a new band caught my ear quite so easily was Alt-J when I first heard Tessellate on Radio 1 donkey's years ago. It as that different...
💜💜💜
Broooo I love Alt J, and yeah i havent been this drawn to a Group since i Heard breezeblocks
💜💜💜 I never heard breezeblocks but I’ll take words for it. They have a lot of drawing power.
I love that Emily played guitar in a Queen cover band. I guess a Last Dinner Party cover of Brighton Rock is out of the question.
@PatCat-om7to I know. That’s funny. When I first saw them, and was describing them to someone, I talked about Emily’s guitar playing and suggested a couple of her solos could’ve been Brian May, so it didn’t surprise me when I heard her say that.
fringe girl shreds! BIG LOVE AUSTRALIA
She sure does. That’d be Emily.

Big things await them, that’s for sure. Glad I got in early.
I have been listening to your previous video on repeat every week since August!! Soooo excited for this one
Wahey! I think we may have topped it with this one. It’s longer, with more songs for one thing. Visually it’s better too as I’m learning the songs and know when to pan for solos.
Wow am I glad I stuck with this after finding the first 2 songs intriguing but ok, cuz damn the more I watched the more I connected with their sound and holy shiiiiiit I am loving this sm!! Thanks for you introducing me to more great stuff
She’s a really great frontman- just brings so much energy to the stage
There's a lot to like in there. The songs are so heart-wrenchingly epic.
Thanks for spotlighting!
Do they have a bandcamp account or any recorded music?
Not yet! New year, I’m sure.
Cool
Well, aren't they just amazing? Thank you for bringing these constant gems right to our ears and eyeballs, they are an absolute lifeline, and this has to be one of the best acts you've posted that was a discovery for me. Cheers man.
You're welcome. I had goosebumps filming this due to the sheer sumptuousness of the sounds and visuals, setting and lighting. The 'little mosh pit' was surprisingly vigorous, but I was happy to go with it and capture some of the glorious mayhem.
absolutely loving their stuff
