Ange Postecoglou has described Tottenham's match with Manchester City on Tuesday night as "the worst experience I've had as a football manager" and said that he feared observers would question his integrity if Spurs lost heavily.
Ahead of the game, there was a big focus on how a Tottenham win would give their arch-rivals Arsenal the advantage in the Premier League title race over City going into the final weekend of the season.
Postecoglou scoffed at pre-match suggestions Spurs supporters would rather see their side lose to boost City's chances of beating Arsenal to the crown. But on the night there was a subdued atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with City's goals in their eventual 2-0 win even cheered by some Spurs fans. There were also chants from the Spurs supporters, when their team had fallen behind, taunting Arsenal.

The most honest man in Prem. Always love to listen to him. Big Ange!

I started to name a few managers, but there are many honest managers these days, now that Mourinho has thankfully left
As a great scholar once said: "It's the history of Tottenham"
Bit like Arsenal In Europe.

Everywhere he went, he won trophies. Standards at Tottenham are so low that this feels like a culture shock for Ange Postecoglou
Any one who cheered City beating them is simply not a Spurs fan. They basically admitted that disliking Arsenal was more important to them than their own team being successful
....which makes them a Spurs fan. Imagine fans not caring about rivals? Wtf is this soft liberal anti tribalism you spewing?
@@ifl1476yeah but they had a chance at CL football.
Villa losing to Palace is more likely than City losing to Westham.
Why is it that Arsenal didn't give up on their pursuit but Spurs did?
The fans simply determined that they have no chance and that's it. Based on the this logic, teams can say "we stand no chance" from day 1.
You could see the players trying, and they needed that bit of support. It is bizarre what the fans did.
@shadikanj4743 so we beat city, villa win last game, arsenal win the league and spurs still finish 5th. Big ange bottled 4 games in a row, 3 points out of 18. THAT is why we didn't get CL
@@blackjackmaestro6505 yeah, but you can go the other way around and say Villa loses to Palace, Westham draws at City.

Well,I can assure you there wouldn’t be many spurs fans left. Reading social media and listening to the radio on the day of the match, Ali hardly came across a spurs fan who wanted his team to win that match
Those Spurs fans that cheered have really let the club down. Brought so much shame to the club. They could have just celebrated outside the club. On the way home but to do it inside the ground shows immature and silly they are.

I do not understand why critics keep conflating the the attitude of Spurs fans with the ambition of the club. The fans did not lose five out of six matches. That is down to the players and coach. There was no realistic chance of catching Villa! Arsenal fans gloat over every success. They still might win the league. And I can just imagine the reaction if they do.
On Tuesday night Spurs played well. The man of the match was a substitute keeper who only played for twenty minutes. Doesn’t that tell you something?
But the fans were the ones cheering their opponents on in their own stadium, never thought I'd see something like that in my life. Refreshingly honest, the problem is no one can change that club's mentality even Ange. It's the History of the Tottenham.
People talking about var being prehistoric and wrong seem to have a short memory about wrong decisions by linesman all the time that cost games.
Where was this energy in the North London derby bro? Or in the games where they dropped points against teams they shouldn't have? Not a Spurs fan, but I'm not blaming them for feeling the way they did in that City game.
Removing VAR is missing the point. It's the referees who screw it up that should be removed. If the referee is going to fix matches so shamelessly, they should be removed. And the full VAR clip with the best angle should be made available. Not some messed up angle with the 1 milisecond clip so that no one can have a clear view and allow the referee to try to hide the fact he is fixing the match.
Spurs and their fans need to hear this... It's a pretty honest assessment
What? He said he couldn’t understand the feelings, you’ve got to want to win every game. Who was the one experimenting the team formation in the cups this season? There is something missing in him as a tactician, his style of play was great early in the season, but then other teams soon learnt how to combat it and we never changed it or maybe couldn’t? Hence the recent poor form involving heavy defeats. I for one will be watching our last game nervously.
@garywallace8521 and when you listen to the press conferences at the time, he also said he still put out teams he believed could and would win the game, based on what he saw. Also said without as many games he didn’t have a chance to fully have opportunities to see the squad in action and give them a fair go.
Totally agree with Ange. Spurs have a top guy in charge. I hope they truely appreciate him they have been a good watch this season and with the backing he deserves will do a great job with spurs
Lol even their coach thinks they have a losing mentality
Spurs also sacked Mourinho a week before a final - Spurs mentality

This is the reality of Tottenham, Big Ange. Should have never left Celtic.
Does anyone see the similarities, all managers of the club go there full of promise and hope...they are then after 1 season coming to the reality that "So Spursy" is a real conundrum....a wise man once said "it's the history of the Tottenham"..
Well Said, Ange. As for VAR, how delightful it was to watch Leeds v Norwich)I Hate Leeds lol) and see such wonderful, natural, INSTANT, joyous scenes and celebrations after each goal rather than the muted Premier Lague nonsense where fans, even Players, and Managers are worried that 50% of the goals, like from setpieces, are looked at with a fine tooth comb and so hold back their spontaneity and wait for Big Brother on a screen to allow them "secondary" celebrations when the REAL moment has gone. The pure Beauty and Spirit of Football that I have loved for all my 70 years ( today, as you ask(..lol
Well said. It's disappointing knowing Tottenham had a slight chance of a champions league spot and supporters are happy to loose that to see arsenal loose the league
It was out of Spurs hands, stopping the Gooners winning the league wasn't!

He would do really well at a club like United or Arsenal Imo
Not at Manchester United they need a big reshuffle across the board and sort out the toxic culture at the club that's more then one man can fix
He is absolutely correct. Ange is a genuine, honest guy who speaks the truth. Would love to have him at Manchester United.
What a disgrace the Spuds fans are, they even shocked their own manager.
Put the shoe on the other foot, if it was Arsenal helping Spurs win the league, you will also see shameless Gooners!
Same goes for arsenal fans, they were supporting their fiercest rivals 🤮
Then he'd be seen as the manager who gifted Arsenal the title instead of stopping them himself when he allowed his team to go 3-0 down instead of trying as hard as he did against Man City. Doesn't make sense, Spurs fans are right, he didn't sense the rivalry when he faced Arsenal.
Rivalry is important, but the most important part of competition is integrity. If Spurs won the PL or UCL on their own merit, behind all the anger I'd think "you know what, fair play, they deserved it". The possibility of the Spurs-City game being tarnished by tanking, thus allowing a team to win a title they otherwise wouldn't have won, damages not only the Premier League, but the sport of association football in general.
Look at what that night did to him. He’d usually give no fucks and say it how it is. Looks like a trained PR response. Poor man

You gotta love this guy because he’s right. At the professional level of sport the bottom line is to win no matter the circumstance.
Sky Sports, what he said about it being the worst experience of his managerial career has nothing so much to do with the fans but more so to do with his integrity. Because if as he said the team was beaten 5 nil, what would be the impression out there especially more so of people on social media questioning his integrity and saying that he threw the game. That clip you played is disingenuous in light of your thumbnail and the opening comments of your presenter. Come on.
