My sister got accepted to Stanford and MiT (We're Asian) CS......Other than the perquisites of 4.0 GPA, AP 5's , SAT 1550, extracurriculars, and academic comp awards... Couple main factors were that she had Alumni Mentors from both schools( VERY VERY EXPENSIVE) And worked on summer projects at both schools , and most importantly applied only because she felt the schools were RIGHT for her ...Hope that helps someone
