    Great video, thank you so much! I have so many questions about college admissions and i couldn't find anyone to ask. I'll be sure to read through every answer so please respond if you know.
    1. I'm from a country where the school year starts in september and ends in june. And i heard that you need to submit your applications before the due date(which seems to be somewhere around november to january), so i send like the midterm grades instead of the entire school year grade?
    2. What are AP, IB tests and where can i take them? I searched about APs and they seem to be a US thing but i can't find much about IBs. Some private schools in my city do seem to actually offer IB classes(i thought it was a test before and i'm more confused now). Are they really that crucial for an application?(everytime i watch a video about college applications they're brought up).
    3. Do they see my elective grades? I'm currently on my sophomore year and i took math and english as an elective but it overlapped with my japanese lessons so i wasn't able to attend the online classes until this semester(mobile data is expensive, not entirely my fault), so i had abyssmally low grades and it was the best i could get due to me not attending the entire class and not knowing the teacher's name.

    HI JANYA, currently working on my application. and i m seriously thankful to God that i got ur video at the right time. I m having only one question, that how it gonna affect my application if i cant explain or show about any national or international awards, bcz my school didn't have much resources for those awards. i hope my comment will find its way to you, and waiting for a reply from uhh. btw, keep going, your videos are awesome. much loveeee..❤

    Hey Janya! I loved your video!
    I have a question. I’m from Punjab, India and applying this fall, but I’m so confused about how to present myself. My school didn’t even have basic facilities, and I had to self-learn a lot. I’ve got good grades and extracurriculars, but I’m worried about how to mention the lack of resources without sounding like I’m complaining. At the same time, I don’t want to come across like I’m comparing myself to others in a negative way, which could make me seem like I’m throwing them under the bus just to make myself look good. But then, they also tell us to be real and unapologetically ourselves, and honestly, these challenges have shaped who I am today. I’ve rewritten my personal statement three times, but it either sounds like I’m complaining or ungrateful, and I don’t want that. I’m stuck and don’t know how to balance it all. Any advice?

      Hey this is such a great question! I actually have created a separate video and addressed the concern a lot of applicants have about coming from an unrecognized school. I recommend watching this th-cam.com/video/LRfdYWitJSg/w-d-xo.html, and specifically paying attention to 9:35 of the video as I touch on your question. After that feel free to ask any questions or clarifications

    The thing is doing things like debate itself is becoming mediocre because too many students are choosing this track. There are too many champions, even at international level. What other unique ECs could you recommend to stay off the beaten paths?

    • @JinaMukherjeeF
      @JinaMukherjeeF 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      getting into international debate is extremely impressive. It doesn't get cancelled out by others doing debate. Whatever u like to do, if u excel in that, and actually get to intl level , is ivy league worthy. No one cares if u r not the only one doing debate

    I have a question, does your volunteering stuff and community work have to be related to your major?

    • @JanyaKaur
      @JanyaKaur  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not at all! Your volunteer work doesn’t have to be directly related to your major. What's more important is how it ties into your personal 'why' or the overarching theme of your application. For example, I volunteered by helping distribute care packages to low-income communities in my country. While that wasn't directly related to my major, I connected it to my passion for entrepreneurship by showcasing how I used problem-solving skills to secure donors and better understand the challenges these communities face. It's all about highlighting the transferable skills and values that align with your larger goals.

    Hey does it put a negative impact on profile, if I have well rounded ecs?
    As I have good impactful ecs, but they're all in different fields.

    • @JanyaKaur
      @JanyaKaur  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I honestly believe it’s less about having a wide variety of extracurriculars and more about how you present their value. In the video (2:00-3:42 and 10:53), I explain how it's important to highlight the impact of your activities and how they fit into your overall story or 'why.' What matters most is demonstrating depth and passion in the areas you've chosen and showing how those experiences have shaped your personal growth. It's all about communicating why these experiences are meaningful to you and how they tie into the bigger picture of who you are

      @@JanyaKaur I'm in 11th grade, and have diverse but impactful ecs. Like some are directly related to my passion, whereas some are directly linked to my hobbies.
      Will it give a negative impact?
