CJ'S AQUARIUMS I think the location of your heater in the sump Also has something to with the big temperature gap . Try moving the heater in a sump ara where it is exposed to large body of water preferably right on your system return discharge . The little section where you have the heater on your sump probably heating a bit faster and the heater internal thermostat might be turning off the heater once the target is reached. Off course you have other losses in your sump but heater location should help . Again it is just a suggestion I really don't know much. Nice tanks and videos.
CJ the tank is looking good, glad you got your problems from the other month sorted out.. Can’t wait to see what corals you get, looking forward to the next update..
LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER WHEN YOU ADD YOUR CLOWNS GET A CLEAR TUB AND PUT THE FISH DOWN THE TUBE INTO THE NEM THAT REALY SEEMS TO WORK THANKS FOR THE UPDATE
Glad to see you back Motivated CJ! I neglected for a bit and I've almost got these Nitrates where I want them lol. And plus one on the bubble scrubbing, that gets rid of a lot for me and gives clearer water. Every video you upload gives me at least one gem in the reefing world. Good Lookin Out!
Looking good, CJ. Please consider covering the tank though. I just lost my McCosker's over the weekend when he managed to squeeze through a small 1/2-inch opening in the back corner where I had my Kessil bracket and powerhead wire coming over the top. The system worked for 8 months without a problem, and I was patting myself on the back for keeping everyone in the tank for so long. You never think they're going to jump -- until they do, and it always sucks. You'll kick yourself for not doing something as simple as covering the tank if one of your fish decides to make a run for it. I was so upset by it that I'm already planning to set up a system that has ZERO hang-ons, ZERO pipes, ZERO wires and ZERO brackets entering through the top of the tank. It's going to have 100% absolute coverage of the top of my tank going forward because I never want to lose another fish to something preventable.
You will be very happy now tht you have removed that sand...tank looks awesome 👏 I see that Singapore angel still hanging around hope he being a decent citizen 😮
Love the update! Cheers for sharing. So good to see everything on track, moving forwards and upwards! Can't wait to see what you choose when it comes to the sps!
CJ your tank is looking great.I have been in the hobby 7yrs and im always learning from you keep the great videos coming.Waiting on that gyre video since you talked me into getting the one with the controller instead of running it with the apex.
Good stuff CJ. Been watching since episode 1! Like your honesty and approach. I look forward to your advice of my setup once i finally pay off my tank builder and get her in place. Peace.
Hi CJ, my tip for the temp probe is it can fit nicely in the grove of the protection guard for the return pump. I control my heater through an arduino (poor mans apex) Its programmed to 26c and arduino turns it on and off (your spare apex socket maybe ;) ) and my temp is rock solid. I have the heater temp set to 28 so its always on when I say its on... that solved my problems :)
Tank is looking amazing! 👍 Diamond Goby is the best sand sifter in my opinion, just make sure you find one that sifts sand but doesn't create huge holes. Can't wait for more corals! 💙🐠
Nice update CJ! That frogspawn is massive. I was watching your green wrasse - hopefully mine gets to be that colour. All the fish are looking good too and I enjoyed the after-dark tour. 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice update buddy. Corals already look nice and settled. Good job, cj i wish you would get a porcupine puffer 😂 they are the best fish ive ever owned. Would love to see one in your tank 👍👍
Gorgeous setup and truly beyond helpful video series. Are you still really happy with the SCA tank and the equipment? Love to see more of it as it looks now!
I love the rimless/topless tank too looks amazing. Curious if had any jumpers? I learned the hard way but my tank much much smaller with less surface agitation.
Tank looks great you did it the right way taking your time I'm having a bubble algae problem but afraid to add emerald crab because of my zoanthids do you have any experience with this
Looking good boss....Just my 2 cents, take it slow on adding sps until you get that calcium reactor running and steady...I’d hate to see you lose a bunch of sps
Solo Reef working on dailinf in the reactor as we speak... I’ll give it at least a week .. but it’s not as hard as I thought. Apex makes it a lot easier 👍🏾
Caught and sold my 4.5" male melanurus yesterday because I've needed to replenish my cuc for months and finally can. He was a beautiful bastard too. Upset. That NEM looks nice. Saw the stream before you picked him up. I'd suggest moving the powerhead off so there is no direct flow. If he releases too much and gets swept up by the flow, he'll be chewed up man. Happened to me a couple weeks ago. Don't want it to happen to that guy!
The thing I like about reef tanks is that their beauty can't be purchased. Yes you can buy the animals and the reefs and the needed components, but the experience needed to maintain it takes time to develop. You can't walk into a store and see a beautiful reef tank and say, I'll spend X amount of dollars and it will be mine.
My LFS guy told me to never touch the sandbed since it can cause a spike in nitrates, and it will remove some of the good bacteria. That gobys and cleanup crew will keep the sandbed clean.
Looking great man! What’s your light intensity at? I’m trying to figure out why my corals aren’t fully extending and i think it’s because my whites might be too strong.
Hey CJ, great video. Do you ever worry about adding fish to a tang dominated tank? Specifically the Yellow tang. I have 180 gallon tank and I have waited to add the yellow tang last since the last one I had bullied every new tank mate. The tank looks good and I like seeing your progress. Good luck!
adding all tangs at once worked well for me.. and later removing the Powder blue for a few days when i added new tangs also helped. always a concern but ive been lucky thus far
Tank is looking great. Good stuff. My tank is coming along. I am editing some videos. Work and life getting in the way.. But looking forward to your input on some things. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Now that you've had the SCA 120 for a while, anything you would have done differently when ordering from them? Gotten a quote from them and just been waiting for the right time to bite the bullet.
Sean Kehoe would have had them drill for a ghost overflow ... everything else on the tank is perfect... if there was a way to remove center brace in the stand then I wouldn’t have any other complaints
use the lowest TDS water u have avail.. RO/DI is usually lower than Distilled.. but you can still have success using ether.. and even tap water if you set you tank up correctly
Any tips or tricks to bring the color out on my green wrasse I just purchased? It’s more of a very pale light green, compared to the neon green yours is showing’
Good thing when your tank ready for coral. My tank has same issue like u, start with dry rock for over 3 month, rock leaching, algae and chaeto dead first month, coral dead everytime i tried...now just let it there and wait the algae and chaeto work....
Does the CO2 from the calcium reactor increase CO2 in the aquarium or is it all used up in the reaction process. I am thinking of the CO2 being a nutrient source for algae?
James Bryan co2 is concentrated inside the reactor. But any excess is gassed off inside the tank.. my algae Scrubber also benefits from this. All ended up working out my tank is algae free
Damn already 8 months? I subbed just before you sold the jbj Glad you're finally getting coral in the tank. Good luck! I also have the same sca skimmer, any tips?
Simon Souter I failed to mention I have a recirculating Line running off my manifold. Water travels thru my sump multiple time before returning to the display. That has a lot to do with it... better filtration but less heat transfer
Love love love! Have watched every video you've made, you're my inspiration. Have just started my own channel, hope it can be a teeny bit like yours one day! Thank you :)
Hey bud, do you have a Solar Wrasse? What do you think of them? I have a malenarise wrasse, wanting some crazy color from a solar wrasse too.. Check out my tank on my channel.. Crap videos though haha
Thanks For Watching everyone... Fun times ahead for this tank!

LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER WHEN YOU ADD YOUR CLOWNS GET A CLEAR TUB AND PUT THE FISH DOWN THE TUBE INTO THE NEM THAT REALY SEEMS TO WORK THANKS FOR THE UPDATE
I'm really impressed with the plumbing. It's very clean and organized.
Nice to see an update I always miss your live feeds thanks peace
Dude that massive frogspawn is EPIC!! I’m so jelly!

Yes! Tank is looking dope CJ. So pumped to see Corals in there.
Got the same Heater. Clowns are a great addition, and must have for me. Glad youre gonna start up on the corals Take it easy Man!
Very nice, great update - tank is starting to come into its own..
You will be very happy now tht you have removed that sand...tank looks awesome 👏 I see that Singapore angel still hanging around hope he being a decent citizen 😮

Like the update as always! Keep it up man!
SPS WOOHOO!
you're so patient, good for you
i added sps to a 3 month tank, and it didn't go well lol
Been looking forward to this update CJ 👍. That frogspawn is a huge colony
Great update!👌

Looking great man Go cards !!!
Great update man.
Nice update CJ! That frogspawn is massive. I was watching your green wrasse - hopefully mine gets to be that colour. All the fish are looking good too and I enjoyed the after-dark tour. 👍🏻👍🏻
It’s halichoeres chloropterus.
Great video bud. Good info on the sand. Diggin the side shot. Good luck with the starry blennie. I liked mine
Nice update buddy. Corals already look nice and settled. Good job, cj i wish you would get a porcupine puffer 😂 they are the best fish ive ever owned. Would love to see one in your tank 👍👍
Fonseca Corals i loved keeping mine. Was my favourite. They have great personalities and would spit water at me when hungry 😂😂
Gorgeous setup and truly beyond helpful video series. Are you still really happy with the SCA tank and the equipment? Love to see more of it as it looks now!
Really nice update.
It's about time!! everything is looking good bro. Keep going
Hey CJ, awesome channel man. Constantly watching your videos.
Keep up the good work.
What lighting are you using..I love it
Wow CJ , 408 thumbs up !
Nice work brother you have a good channel going now. Congrats
I love the rimless/topless tank too looks amazing. Curious if had any jumpers? I learned the hard way but my tank much much smaller with less surface agitation.
Absolutely awesome!
beautiful!!
Tank looks great you did it the right way taking your time I'm having a bubble algae problem but afraid to add emerald crab because of my zoanthids do you have any experience with this
walter otiepka black out the tank. No lights for a week
Never had any mess with Zoas but I did have one mess with leather corals in my last tank... bubble algae hard to get rid of. Good luck man
You’re videos are lit man. I just subscribed
Finally comments engaged. 🐟👊🏾👊🏼🐟

Tank is looking so great! Did you turn the flow down any to accommodate the torches and frogspawn or did moving them do the trick?
MikeTheReefer moving them to better spots.. was tricky with two gyres I’ll be making video dedicated to it next .. Flow flow flow 👌🏾
Hey, tanks looking great with corals no! I'm interested in getting a reef lobster, do you feed yours or does it just catch drifting food?
Are your gyres pulsing at 1second?
themako851 .8 seconds for standing wave in my tank
Looking great man! What’s your light intensity at? I’m trying to figure out why my corals aren’t fully extending and i think it’s because my whites might be too strong.
90% blue - 30% white
Hey CJ, great video. Do you ever worry about adding fish to a tang dominated tank? Specifically the Yellow tang. I have 180 gallon tank and I have waited to add the yellow tang last since the last one I had bullied every new tank mate. The tank looks good and I like seeing your progress. Good luck!

Love it
Do cal reactors need to be hooked up with co2 won’t that raise the ph?
Ok dumb question.... how important is ro/di water compared to those distilled gallons from the grocery store?
use the lowest TDS water u have avail.. RO/DI is usually lower than Distilled.. but you can still have success using ether.. and even tap water if you set you tank up correctly
CJ'S AQUARIUMS Awesome, thanks for the reply...Happy Thanksgiving CJ!
Fonseca Corals I have a 45 gallon tank, yea been using distelled for the past year and its been a pain 😑
How's the Singapore Angel doing? Looking forward to the 10 pack video.
Hey CJ, just curious, what do you keep your display tank temp at?
Jim Kyle 77-79
Cj may want to look at clarkii for that bubble tip
Any tips or tricks to bring the color out on my green wrasse I just purchased? It’s more of a very pale light green, compared to the neon green yours is showing’
TRILL u might have female green wrasse usually males have the bright green color and females a much lighter bland color.
male vs female coloration.. find u a male
CJ, try a sea cucumber to help clean your sandbed.
Good thing when your tank ready for coral. My tank has same issue like u, start with dry rock for over 3 month, rock leaching, algae and chaeto dead first month, coral dead everytime i tried...now just let it there and wait the algae and chaeto work....
RuHmVu yes waiting 7-8 months for everything to settle has helped. I haven’t lost a single coral yet
Great Video bro, I really got to get an apex!!!
I sure will, shooting for next year
I will check it now!!
GFI a controversial thing. Good to hear about blue head wrasse.
Wow is that a giant frogspawn?!
If you get a diamond goby for sifting the sand you'll definitely need a screen on top.
A+
How come your other videos don't have comments enabled?
OhDearInPubs ? They are enabled
CJ'S AQUARIUMS Some of your videos say "comments disabled"
I just checked and all your videos do. No idea why, but for the past few months it's said your comments are all disabled. Weird
Green Star polyps or Violet Star polyps?
Anthony Sullivan definitely 👌🏾
Cant imagine how its possible to have such a temperature difference between sump and tank, mine is always exactly identical...
Simon Souter I failed to mention I have a recirculating Line running off my manifold. Water travels thru my sump multiple time before returning to the display. That has a lot to do with it... better filtration but less heat transfer
My Kole Tang chases my Lawnmower Blenny as well.
Comments!! Yay!!
My blue eyed Kole tang won't allow a starry blenny in my tank. He'll beat the hell out of them.
Love love love! Have watched every video you've made, you're my inspiration. Have just started my own channel, hope it can be a teeny bit like yours one day! Thank you :)
Helen Goss thank you for the love ... thanks for watching 😁
Just keep moving
Bubble scrubbing fad will hopefully go away.
Hey bud, do you have a Solar Wrasse? What do you think of them? I have a malenarise wrasse, wanting some crazy color from a solar wrasse too.. Check out my tank on my channel.. Crap videos though haha
ARs View had one in here that looked very similar.. beautiful fish. Good temperament... go for it 👍🏾
