Heey. The first step is always the hardest. If you love it, no matter what, do it. Take that class, go to that party. No matter if you feel bad first time, I always push my students to do the first step. P.S> Thank you :D
Oh Maria, you are missing out, on SO much... Given your comment is a month old, I really hope, that you have taken the step, to get out and enjoy bachata
Very helpful, I never learned but already knew some moves just by watching people dance every now & then. Definitely feels good to know for sure though & see it again. Thank you I loved the video
Yesssss, a clip with caricia variations would be aaawweeesoooome!!!! I watch your videos every day to learn new moves because i am only starting to learn bachata and salsa! Keep it up ❤❤

I had a stroke 6 years ago and the right side of my body has limitations for now. But a woman that I have interest in loves to bachata. I want to learn how.
Hello. Just keep on practicing. Find some classes and go to parties. This is the best method to learn. It comes with time. Being good takes time, months. So no matter what, keep going. We are with you :P
Hola Marius Y Elena :-) Thank you for your videos and tutorials. They have been a treat to watch. I paid a little extra notice, when you showed the "box step", and briefly spoke about how you would hold the hands. To protect the wrist of the woman. And I have had two experiences, with women who told me about, how sometimes their hands or wrist hurt. And I would like to pay some extra attention, on my own way, of hold the woman's hands, and protecting them. But could you do a tutorial, and go deeper into how you would do that? As I know of two "grips", either the "loose grip", where you just hold the fingers together, for turns etc. Or the "firm grip", where you put your palms together, and kinda interlock them. I use that for the boxstep, or the Madrid step. I also think the grip, where you put your thumb, inside the woman's palm, and fingers around her wrist sometimes work. I call it the kizomba-grip. But I don't think, it works that well, with the Madrid step for example. Happy holidays, and happy new year to you guys.
Thank you. For sure we will do that... and what you call the "kizomba-grip" works for everything where you need more tension or to move the girl. The most important part here is how you use the flow of the tension, not the grip in itself. Think like this: 1. The tension, how you use it and the flow are the most important. 2. The grip only facilitates point number 1. I can lead, if I know correctly what you mean by "Madrid" step, from any possible grip... because I am focused on the tension between us. But for sure I will do a video about that to explain better. Thank you for the idea and happy holidays and a happy new year to you too :D
You can go on spotify and search, bachata playlist. For a beginner, I recommend the remixes because they are very, very simple in their structure. Original Bachata songs are more complex and have more flavour.
I think so too. But ever since this is about teaching, i am more like: a good teacher only dances one level higher then his current pupils, on purpose. And not like perfect in a beginners lesson. Just the basic steps without too much body movement would be enough and perfect. Beginners tend to imitate body movement, that is reactional to the footwork. And then they look aweful, because they make an active movement, where it should be reactional. So all in all HE does a good job on teaching. Her movement is to advanced for a "basic moves part 1"
OMG. I love your tutorial. I grew up dancing since 60+ years ago. Due to work and raising my daughter (I am a widower) I have not had time to dance. It has been decades since I went dancing. Recently, I had three stents installed and besides diet I have to do exercise. My cardiologist told me dancing was excellent exercise. I went out and I could barely do more than the basics for salsa, hustle, etc. For the bachata I had forgotten everything but the basic step (which I do with my right hand on the ladies back). An idea popped in my head: check TH-cam. But I wanted to find a Bachata basics refresher. Well lo and behold I found this page. TY!! TY!!! TY!!! I love it. I have not viewed the complete video but from what I have seen I will continue to use your video to refresh my memory. You guys may be my bachata saviours. Gracias. Come decimos los Boricuas, se les quiere de gratis. Greetings from NJ.
That's a great compilation of all basic moves. I watched both the videos and they are perfect refreshers before socials etc. Could you please do the same for Salsa as well ? That would be great.
Here in Germany, we have more of bachata / salsa parties growing in the big cities. I love the spanish/latin culture, por eso e aprendido español y he trabajado por los paises, but I really want to learn to dance good! Even seeing it makes fun, I will make a course soon. Great video!
Dude, you're a little bit mistaken. You should TEACH, not flatter your ego, showing how perfectly and cool you can perform basic exercises. This video has nothing to do with teaching.
Anybody else wants to jump into the conversation? I thought the 4 year old video which is one of the most viewed Bachata tutorials on youtube, has a lot of info that is still relevant to all dancers. I am curious, wasn't I sharing (not teaching, because teaching includes the progression analysis of your student) some valuable info in this video (and in the other 200+ tutorials?)
