You know I started thinking about Tee shirts for you to sell. I think an awesome design would be your shadow across a field. That would look really cool.
Huzzah, to a plethora of toy boats... All waxed up & floating off together on an adventure. Who wouldn't smile at that sight? I love seeing your glass bottles, all cleaned up & glowing in your window.
@@tom_burleigh I am a fan of nit only your wanderings, but of homemade sailboats. In my youth, so before you were even a gleam in your Dad's eye, I crafted one: sailing it in a regatta @ Echo Park Lake in Los Angeles. Still a fond memory.
I started writing a story once featuring a puffer fish, called Hedgehog fish's big adventure. Maybe I should finish that story, and then do a craft video accompanied by a reading of it. Thanks for sparking my imagination 🙂
I set myself the target of putting out one mudlarking video, (or related, like using the forge), for every 2 weeks of 2023. I got a bit behind, not releasing one in February, so there's at least another one to catch up on. 🙂
Lovely to see you out with the Johnsons. I love the colours and condition of the bottles from that dump, they’re quite beautiful. Yes, I would love to see the small boats set sail on to new adventures! ⛵️😊
Thanks Violet Lilly, I'll get planning and working on the boats video. Probably won't release them till the summer, when the rivers are slow and gentle. I'm hoping the Johnsons will visit Yorkshire again soon, not really for mudlarking, I've another site in mind to take them.🙂
Thanks Tom for another mudlark, I am glad you got to enjoy time with the Johnsons but I agree with you as for local, missed the sound of the water. Love your flower pot, I agree about the flower over the herb. Take care till next time. Would like to see you set boats sailing down the river, maybe with notes to learn how far the sailed?
Thanks for the idea Debbie, I think a message in a bottle would be a great addition to the boats. I'm going to enjoy seeing the Johnsons again soonish, I've got a non-mudlarking site in mind for them that I think we'll both have fun filming.🙂
I agree with the others that a floatilla of toy boats would be great. Perhaps Phil could say a word when you release them or you could recite a poem of going to sea. I love the bottle collection. There was a jar with a wonky lip next to the brown bottles that appealed to me. You could start some thyme in the clay pot to transplant to a walkway when it gets stronger. After doing that a few times the toxins, if any would be leached out and you could use it for your winter herbs. I’m really looking forward to seeing your videos more frequently. Bye for now 👋🇨🇦👋
What a great reminder of a wonderful day we spent with you :D Manky was so excited to see himself on camera! My favourite find of yours for the day was the sign, even if it still holds a secret we can never find out. I would LOVE to see your flotilla of rescued boats sailing off into the sunset!!! Manky suggested that maybe you would like to have his face on the sail of one of the boats. He is so shy lol Thank you for the mentions. Looking forward to seeing you again this year. We love spending time with you :)
Manky would certainly look great on one of the sails 🙂. It was indeed a wonderful day, and I hope there's some places we can film together when next you visit. There is one I've got my eye on, an old abandoned brickworks, heavily graffitied, and the neighbouring land which was a Victorian Pleasure garden, that became almost a theme park, and then abandoned and left to nature. I think to make the most of it, you'd need to be able to walk about 4 miles comfortably, if that sounds doable and like something you'd like I'll send some more details. 🙂
Loved this video Tom ❤😊 those bottles are beautiful, such bold colours 👌🥰 that unusual shaped bottle reminded me of a hot air balloon, but I could see you making an under sea creature. My other thought was an octopus. Thanks for taking us with you Tom ❤👌🥰
I always pick up the glass stoppers, they look good in a large jam jar on a windowsill. I know Phil Johnson likes old teapots, but they are useful as nesters for birds, up against a fence if covered with a climbing plant,or even just wedged in a hedge or maybe the vee of a tree covered in ivy, a big favourite of Robin's and Wrens. It would have been interesting if the driver of the heavy machinery would skim off the top layer for everyone looking to recover things of interest. Best wishes to you Tom, from Wales.
Thanks Paul. That's an interesting concept with the teapots, I don't know how easy it is to clean them (wouldn't want to poison birds with dumpsite toxins), but might well give it a try. I'd also love to build a bird box, just for the fun of it. I agree on that, if they'd arranged it, it would have been an amazing meet up opportunity. Alas, the big heavy machinery was putting a 6ft layer of soil over the dumpsite instead. That field where this one was filmed is gone now, but the bottle diggers moved on to the next field over; never as good, but still occasionally fairly good. Best wishes to you, from West Yorkshire.🙂
Thank you for another excellent video. Sorry I don't comment much. Would love to see the little boats drifting, bobbing and freely dancing away on a new adventure.
Oh Tom, the boat! I'm so glad you found it, poor thing high and dry all these years. Yes, I'd love to see you make your boats seaworthy again. Thank you for sharing your lovely day.
I would love to watch you release toy boats! It was so nice of you to show Phil and Caroline the dump. They are another favorite of mine. That strange bottle you found is very lovely, I hope you find a way to use it. I’m glad you rescued several nice bottles even if you don’t keep them yourself since the dump is scheduled to become a building site. 🌞
Thanks Leanne, I think they might be planning on doing a bit of mudlarking again with me in the summer, but I'm more excited about another place I've found that they might like to film, an old brick works and the neighbouring land which was once a Victorian theme park. 🙂
Im glad you had a good day out with friends. I too prefer the rivers and prettier scenery and nature sounds. The view from your window always looks peaceful and calm. I really liked the bottle you found that looked like some sorta undersea creature. The poor little sailboat is in need of restoring and being set to water again. A flotilla of restored toy boats would be an interesting video and project.
I too have an issue with getting things done lately, i think i just dont have the same prioritys i used to and have certainly slowed down to see the🌷🌹🥀⚘️. That was a great dig sight it would be no problem for me to fill a backpack or two. Also that view out your window at the house is magnificent i've mentioned this before and seeing the seasons change is quite a treat. Here in Ca. We have been in drought for 10 to 20 yrs so its mostly brown outside yr. around. This year has been a little different it seems like all the snow and rain we have been missing is coming all at once. We are getting flash floods, landslides, snow down to 500 ft., hail, freezing storms from Canada, then warm fronts from Hawiaii. All this in just the last month or so. We are being told we are out of the drought so thats good news. Ok enough of that. Cant wait to see whats next. Thanks Tom and stay safe✌️
Wow, I didn't realise things in Ca had been bad for that long. I hope things level out for you a bit, and it's not just boom and bust cycles from now on. My priorities change constantly... but though some creative projects seem to fall away, they always seem to circle back around. I hope you get the things done, at least the ones that seem important to you... but it is always worth it to slow down and see (and smell) the flowers. 🙂
Thank you Tom. I enjoy your commentary and your walks. Very glad you share only what you want and keep everything else private. I respect that about you. Too many people want more. Just wish I had a bottle dump to enjoy.

Hi,my wish is that you are well, when you look out the window it looks like a black and white pencil drawing. You know I love your description of everything and places.i can hear you all day.I am enjoying your videos.
I never see a brick washed up on my beach without thinking of Phil “I’ve found a brick” Johnson. Will really miss their mudlarking videos but understand their reasons. Lovely you all got to spend time together, Manky Panda too. Thank you again Tom, I love seeing a video from you pop up.
Enjoyable as always and more so with the Johnsons too :) absolutely delighted with the boats returning to the wild idea 😁 and i think a soft cotton tee, that would match the comfort many find from listening to your excellent voice, perhaps with some of your favorite phrases, such as , "I'll take it" or the printed 🎶 intro music suggestion someone made, your shadow , or the beautiful view from your window, would all be wildly popular in my opinion 😀
Brilliant dump Tom! As for refining your metal, perhaps contact a chemistry channel on youtube who might help collaborate with the refining? I'm in scotland with my friend Jack doing mudlarking and digging 😁
Hope you're having a brilliant time, and have some great finds. I'll be up in Scotland again in May, haven't found any decent mudlarking or digging spots though, yet. Thanks for the idea on the metal refining, I'll have a look for one UK based. mbmmllc and sreetips are channels that could, and possibly would do things like that, but they're not UK.
Vibrant colour indeed! those bottles are so saturated with the winter background. I also like the rivers better, but if I had a dump like that near me I admit I'd be there often! Another nice video, thanks!
Hello 👋 from New York USA you Found Some Amazing Finds my Favorite Definitely Was the Aqua Bottles and the Indian root Amber Bottle Thank you for Bringing me Along with you I can't wait to see What you Find Next 😊
I like your river walks! How you have the noise of the river as you walk! The changing sound of water and the music you play! I have had hard times falling asleep at night and your sounds are always changing and makes it much more relaxing! I would like to see a video of just the river walks that play for a couple of hours!
The REGISTRAR metal find was shaped so much like a little dog when you found it that I had to go back to view it a second time. I love the idea of your found wooden boats being waxed up and released to spread more joy. They are beautiful objects and encourage many daydreams.
Truly, I've treasured every meet up with the Johnsons, and other mudlarkers. I hope you have a wonderful time in the area, meeting up with Lynn for some antique hunting. Are you going larking too?

*Kia ora Tom, ohhh wow, such a beautiful scenery of the snow covering the landscape outside your window... Ok that blue rare WWII bottle you should have grabbed... yep slightly broken, but still worth selling to someone on ebay... Kia kaha (stay strong) and keep well & safe.*
The view from your window is heavenly. I'm in the Adelaide Plains of South Australia and we never have snow down here, very rarely we have a bit of snow fall in the surrounding hills but nothing more than a dusting of snow. I'm envious.
My wife and I can only wish we could be there to see all your pond boats trailing off down the river, but.....we live in the States. A video would be much appreciated!
You may suggest that you lack certain social 'skills', but your videos are always interesting, and I love your laid back approach to life. Keep up the good work.
Great seeing this and sorely miss the Johnsons mudlarking and Phils brick spotting. Hopefully we'll see them when they visit Yorkshire dont some mudlarking even if a little bit occasionally.
Another fine video today. The finds were very nice. The weather is getting threatening today. Well all the same, glad to see you again. Hope the lady friend is doing well. I progressing slowly, but surely. Enjoy the week ahead, and see you on the next. Cheers Tom.! 🇬🇧👍🙂🇺🇸
In a novel I just finished writing set in 1915, I was able to accurately describe a poison bottle, thanks to your explorations and explanations... who knew? Thank you. And this video was a pleasure as always.
I loved this site and went several times. Most of my best finds are from there including a terracotta claw pipe and a beautiful Codd bottle. Such a shame for us it's being built over. I understand Caroline and Phil's decision, tiplarking and mudlarking is tougher than it looks and I struggle now too. I am very much looking forward to seeing your other videos from this site though. 😀💗 x
Beautiful video! So good to be with friends who enjoy doing the same things together! I can't help but look at all the different wild plants around you, most I recognize , and some I don't, all are interesting and beautiful to me. Good finds but most of all in the company of good friends! :)
Thanks Teddye, it was a good site for finds. I'm going to start planning, and perhaps filming making a boat this week.... though setting them sail will have to wait till the Summer, when the rivers will be calmer. 🙂
Good .....afternoon from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺. Adjacent to Sydney Uni’. I’m on the balcony with a cuppa/brew/cup of tea, and it’s currently 15:28 (almost 3:30PM). I’m just getting myself comfortable before I enjoy your latest.....upload 🤔. Anyway, I’m just pausing to say thank you (in advance) for sharing your adventures; It is much appreciated. Take care 🙂🐿🌈❤️
Hello Tom! Just a thought, have you ever considered cutting off the bottoms of some of the most suitable and gloriously coloured bottles you find and making hanging lanterns ? Imagine the colour! I know someone who does this, not sure how and of course she uses modern bottles, but to be able to create using those old bottles would be unique! Thanks for your videos, always look forward to them!
You know I started thinking about Tee shirts for you to sell. I think an awesome design would be your shadow across a field. That would look really cool.
Thanks Myth Demeanor, that's a cool idea. Still not sure about doing merch, but if people really want them I'll start planning. 🙂

Thanks Pam. 🙂
yes to a video of you releasing the boats. and if you mail to Canada I would love to have a bottle or 2.
Thank you for the adventure.
What a beautiful day you had. Thanks for sharing and hope you and your girlfriend are well.
Beautiful video! So good to be with friends who enjoy doing the same things together! I can't help but look at all the different wild plants around you, most I recognize , and some I don't, all are interesting and beautiful to me. Good finds but most of all in the company of good friends! :)
I loved first find and rest of the things that you found. I would love to see boats floating down the river. Thank you Tom
Thanks Teddye, it was a good site for finds. I'm going to start planning, and perhaps filming making a boat this week.... though setting them sail will have to wait till the Summer, when the rivers will be calmer. 🙂
Glad to see you again! Take it easy.
Anyway,
I’m just pausing to say thank you (in advance) for sharing your adventures; It is much appreciated.
Take care
🙂🐿🌈❤️
Lovely finds! Have a wonderful week Tom.
Thanks Angie, I hope you have a wonderful week too. 🙂
Another great video Tom always a pleasure to watch and listen to.
Thanks J J. I'm glad you still enjoy my videos. 🙂
I would buy a tee shirt from you! You should do it Tom!
During your intro I thought you meant shots of alcohol at first. I had a good laugh!
Always enjoy your videos
