Just ran into this note on cases of "blood thinning" following ingestion of Auricularia polytricha, a type of Wood Ear: www.mykoweb.com/TFWNA/P-54.html Apparently a researcher experimenting on his own blood found anticoagulant effects following repeated ingestion of this mushroom, and also developed some bruising on his legs. Similar effects were seen in volunteers, underscoring the caution about eating Wood Ears if on anti-coagulant meds. Wondering if this is species specific or generalizable to multiple Auricularia species....
