Great overview. Enjoying your videos after upgrading my mk3 VRS to the Mk4 last week. Im wondering, Is there an option to set Start/Stop and Driving Modes to ‘memory’? with this device? Found a list of features online but couldn’t see these mentioned. Cheers
Just picked up my new Mk4.5 vRS estate. Great to see that you can now turn off the rear wiper automatically operating when the front wipers are on. Skoda have listened!
Folks in the Czech Republic are quite proud of Skoda, and I was fortunate enough to have a new Anthracite Octavia Estate as my company car while I was there. I absolutely loved the car, and it stands out in my mind as one of the best I've ever had. All these features add up to make such a comfortable and fun drive. 10/10 would recommend. 🤙🏽
HI Darren ! I’ve watched all your videos , I have the same car in white absolutely love it . I’ve bought almost everything you have but I’m having a with the g-meter any ideas 💡 regards steve
Hi Darren.. What are the app credits doe you have to pay fees to use it ? and does the app allow you to deactivate the stop start feature permanently ?
Hi so the app credits can be bought to make quick changes at a tap of a button. Long coding however is free, but unless you know the coding for the change you wish to make, you will not need the credits. And no there is not an option to permanently deactivate s/s without visiting a specialist garage that do remaps etc.
@@tubedarrenI do a lot of very short trips. So far 19.000km and still ok. But I'm also concerned about that. However, I need to drive it because of my child.
YES it can. All car insurances are quoted on the default values being the factory settings which means all assist systems are on. Turn them off and if discovered by the assessor eg following a collision and subsequent claim then good luck.
You should turn on Normal Cruise Control also and you don’t need to pay credits you can manually code I know it sounds hard it’s really not after you do it once 👍
Getting my VRS end of next month! If you just want the odb11 for changing settings/turning things on and off, can you just buy the entry level version of it and purchase the credits separately? Thanks.
Hi Darren fantastic video and information just a quick one can you delete the sos function? Mine has been in for an update due to it coming on all the time but it’s still coming on….cheers mate👍
Thanks Peter. I don’t think it’s possible and I wouldn’t advise it. Could be a faulty module on your car. I had similar issues with mine and Skoda sorted it 👍
Excellent video Darren, when viewing the OBD 11 on Amazon, its says "This does not fit" (my Mk4 VRS 245 petrol) . Is this correct, or do i also require an OBD adapter cable to go with it?
I miss understood you, no memory on the driving modes like “eco/normal/sport” etc that i can see. however with the pro subscription manual coding can be performed and i wonder if there’s a code for that!
Hi Darren, commenting on your most recent post hoping you will see it, I've watched a lot of your videos, but not a lot mentioned about mpg. What do you get on a run and also round town etc? Thanks
I have the 2l petrol 245hp hatch and it's thirsty, currently averaging 25mpg. For comparison, my 2l petrol 190hp passat does 31mpg. Mostly commute driving with plenty of stop/starts, then longer runs at the weekend. Only had it a month and not been on a long motorway run yet. Don't expect miracles if getting the petrol as it will drink fuel even when driving steady, but it's a beast when putting the foot down and fun to drive. More smiles to the gallon!
@@WhiteGoldtubeI get 25 if I thrash it, 30-35 on mixed driving, 40 on A roads & I’ve got 50 once on a long drive through N. Wales (ave speed cameras & pesky mobile vans kept me in check)
Try this for mirror dip function for reversing the car. 1st, switch on engine. 2nd, turn mirror knob control to 'L' position. 3rd, while holding brake, shift to Reverse gear and try adjust the left rear view mirror to angle towards the kerb (curb). Once you have set the angle, shift to 'D' gear and drive past 15km/hr (do not adjust the rear view mirror control knob). The left rear view mirror should revert back to the original angle while driving. If it does revert back to the original angle, stop the car and shift into reverse gear. Do not switch the rear view mirror control knob to other position, the left rear view mirror should automatically angle towards the kerb (curb).
surely your car already has dip mirror in reverse. you set the mirror knob to left side put car in reverse then adjust the mirror to where you want to see, the mirror reverts to original position when you move forwards again at around 5mph. Knob must be set on left for next time though or it doesnt dip automatically.
Hi! Have you found an app/solution to permanently disable or allow memory setting for the auto start stop? What I found online is VW no longer allows this after dieselgate fiasco :(
so on the pro subscription you can do it without credits if you know how to do the coding. The pro membership was free it seems (for the first year only) with the device. But on the basic OBDeleven you can only use the credits as far as I’m aware.
Your Black Front Bonnet badge, Black Glossy or Matt and what size in mm. please, getting the same car as you on Thursday Great video def will be getting an ODB11 cheers.
So each one click change has an amount of credits which cost money. You buy them via the app. Or you can make the changes yourself providing you know how to do the long coding
I don't understand why those half options were not ON from the factory? Because this is a vRS version after all, not a basic Škoda. Anyway, a really good and educative video.
Hi, thanks for the video. Could you make another video about this tool and its price? It's a one shot or subscription plan? I also didn't get the credits part... Where is the obd port? Thanks in advance
Hi Darren, thanks for the video! Do I have to buy the coins again after a year? According to the manufacturer's website and some reviews, the settings have to be made again after a year.
Correct, it's bull shid. £36k retail and still got pay extra for crap like changing colours of the interior lights or essentials like to get cruise control adjusting to speed limits.
Comes with bog standard adaptive cruise control but have to manually set the speed (limit) and keep adjusting it, which I found annoying since I use this all the time in my passat SEL. Had to pay £63 in skoda connect shop to get Speed Sign Recognition aka "proper" adaptive cruise control that adapts to speed limits and automatically adjusts max cruise control speed. This uses sat nav data and cameras to monitor road signs. Should be standard these days. Love the car but a few annoying bits, looking forward to getting the obdeleven tomorrow to get rid of awful fake engine noise and disable Lane assist. Good video by the way 😊'
No auto start-stop crap disabling -.-' I got almost 5 accidents because of this shit! Car still rolling on middle of cross roads and turning off! This should be ILLEGAL!
I agree it’s horrible. I mean fair play if it cut out after your stationary for a few seconds, but it cuts out when rolling up to lights and junctions 😂
@@tubedarren well at least my KIA is not so dumb, and turn off when you dead stop for 1s and have pushed on brake pedal, irritating but at lest is safer.
Don"t buy the mirror dip. If you have memory function and electric seats, mirror dip is already stock.

Does this violate car warranty if the car is bought brand new?

Do you have to keep the OBD11 dongle in all the time, or can you remove it after you have altered the settings (Dreaded Lane Assist) - Thanks
Hi Andy it’s only left in whilst making changes, as soon as it’s done I remove it 👍

Hello m8 just a quick question, I'm thinking about getting a vrs diesel have you has any dpf problems with urs?
Hey man no it’s been fine, I do a lot of long distance driving though. I think if you do a lot of short trips and low miles it can be a problem
@@tubedarrenI do a lot of very short trips. So far 19.000km and still ok. But I'm also concerned about that. However, I need to drive it because of my child.

Not sure if there’s much benefit on a diesel?
Try this for mirror dip function for reversing the car. 1st, switch on engine. 2nd, turn mirror knob control to 'L' position. 3rd, while holding brake, shift to Reverse gear and try adjust the left rear view mirror to angle towards the kerb (curb). Once you have set the angle, shift to 'D' gear and drive past 15km/hr (do not adjust the rear view mirror control knob). Do not switch the rear view mirror control knob to other position, the left rear view mirror should automatically angle towards the kerb (curb).
Hi Ashley thanks mate however I think it only works for cars with the memory seat function, couldn’t get it to work on mine 👍
Can you get the boost gauge on the dash with this?
Will it work for Lane guidance also?
Have you used this for changing rear pads discs
@@stevepalmer-s1s no but I should have done, I wrecked my rear caliper without thinking 😂

Unfortunately not!

I love my one aside from a few niggles I’ve had with it in the beginning like infotainment and parking sensors. But now it’s all ok
My entry level golf life has automatic mirror dip on reverse.
I wish you elaborated more on the credits part
Aside from credits for the features, is there any other fee required for the app? Like pro subscription etc.?

Great vid worth £90 just to turn off that soundaktor instead of driving in eco mode. keep the vid's coming
Deffo! You can buy the basic version and it will do the same thing, only you can’t do the free coding with that version. Cheers
Why can't you start the vrs and it stay on individual drive mode every time you turn it on
