This video gives the the gooses. Every week i remember - Tired and sleepy arriving in Dubai after Midnight. Listening to this reminds me of the late night taxi i used to take all the way back home. Stopping at the Gahroud Petrol station for a Chai Karak and then heading home towards Jebel Ali. Alas, these days of the notorious pandemic has put a stop to such wonderful memories. Hope for the skies to be filled with the EK Birds and turn all the what if's to a roaring Why not.
Hi Rohit, I still feel the same today despite resigning from EK in November 2020 after my wife got redundant. This video was that last stretch, you knew you had to give before being home. So much goosebumps until today. Take care! ✈️
@@jiggythibs we are now in 2024 :). Im reading my comment today and wonder how we lived thru those times. - I hope things have become better for you and your family mate. I wish you good luck
I'll give you my best guess from a programmers point of view (that is how I would do it): The short answer: The planes have an internet connection. They input the baggage and connections information into the airports computers and the airports computers talk to the planes via internet. The airport personal does the input. Long answer: Imagine a central computer on board each plane that knows and talks to all the displays in the seats (the ice system, based on android). The displays job is to display the content that the central computer has on its hard disc. So the displays hardly do anything and the central computer does all the hard work. Once in dubai, the central computer is physically connected to the airports main computer and is updated with the newest software and movies during its stay, because movies are rather big chunks of information. But... there is live content when you are in the air, right? Well, the video from the planes cameras goes directly from the cameras to the central computer and from there to the displays. The live tv is probably reveived via a satellite connection. But the planes also have a (rather narrow bandwith) internet connection. My best guess is that the central computer in the plane talks to the airports server andthereby is fed the information. Once the staff on the airport adds the information to their computers, the airport can transmit it to the planes computer via internet. Computers can also talk to each other in their own transmission language without any human having to be able to diciver what they are saying. This usually results in smaller communication packages in order to save time and bandwith. The central computer then makes this information availible to the passengers in a human readable format. Once starlink is up and fully operational, my best guess is that things will get even more exciteing, since starlink has a ridiculously high bandwith. All movies could for example be streamed directly from the airport to the plane and we could have all the live tv we want in any language (potentially).
The best airline & the best airport always trying to bring something new. They are either number 1 or the only one love you Uae ♥️
Wow this is video is a relic! Wish they still played it... Thanks for uploading it!
