That's my favorite version of a Christmas Carol, and you made it come to life for me. Thank you! I hope to visit England someday, and I'll definitely try to make it to Shrewsbury. Best wishes from Virginia, USA.
I just got done watching the movie and I swear seeing those two kids under Edward Woodward‘s robe gets me every time! Amazing performances. Seeing the filming locations was also awesome especially seeing the Scrooge home . When I get a chance to get out to England I’ll definitely swing by that town and check out those locations for myself. Thanks again for sharing. Merry Christmas.
Thank you! I just discovered this video today. I enjoy many of the films of a Christmas Carol and it was great to see the locations used there. Really enjoyed it. Thanks from California!
Just watching your old vloggs they are so interesting showing us where the film was made a big thanks to you both watching your old vloggs is brilliant 😊
U said u met a woman that lived there and they sprayed everything with snow . I was a kid in Shrewsbury Eye ear and throat hospital at the time and I watched them filming out the hospital windows . Sureal watching out front of hospital and nothing out back fake snow and ppl in costumes and horses . Amazing
I wish we could have been there at the time, it would have been amazing to see them filming it all, thank you for your comment and support on the channel
Cool video! Thanks for it. I actually just rewatched Scott's version of A Christmas Carol a few nights ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, as I always do. In my opinion, it's the second best adaptation behind the 1951 film with Alistair Sim. Scott's is an understated, very believable, very human take on the character. It looks like if they were to shoot a new adapation of the story in Shrewsbury today that there would be a fair amount of things they'd need to either cover up or digitally remove.
A Christmas carol is my favourite Christmas film and I found your vlog very interesting. Also watched your vlog with the Bazza’s who I also follow. Thanks for all the interesting vlogs.
I had the opportunity to visit there last year and it was a wonderful "scavenger hunt" of finding the places. An absolute gem of a town/city Shrewsbury is. Thanks for posting!
The grave stone was actually placed there for the filming. It wasn't there before and there is no grave under it. The crew approached a monumental sculpturer to ask for a stone for the filming. The break in the headstone was there during filming and if you look carefully you can actually see a small bit of the crack in the film. The stone was cracked and so couldn't be used and was donated to the film and the name was out on it. The church warden at the time asked for the stone to be left in place after filming which is why it is still there. Great video, enjoyed it very much.
Hi just a bit more information on the railings my wife and I went on the Christmas carol tour a few years back in December and the chap that did the tour told us that the railings were actually cut down during ww1 to be used for the war effort to make bullets and guns so they were never replaced in the film you can see what look like the original railings but these were built by the set dressers in wood and put there for the scene then taken down and thrown away after filming so that is they aren't there ..... regarding the grave stone again told by the chap doing the tour it was in fact a grave from over a hundred years previously and was chosen because of that and the fact any inscription had been erased by the elements over many years and a local stone mason was employed to inscribe EBENEZER SCROOGE on the surface so the grave is real and is genuine....if you book a place on the tour around early December you will get to see the whole filming places in the film including inside Tanners where the dance scenes and Christmas party by fesiwink were held again all this is told in the tour hope this information helps👍
Born in Shrewsbury, lived here over 50 years and walked past most of those places without a second thought. I may give them a specific visit now :).
Awesome, it's always good to find something interesting that's right under your nose lol
And GOD bless us everyone 🎉

Yes indeed!😁
It looked a whole lot better with the railings ! I wonder why they would take them down ?
Totally agree, I guess they had to remove them for "safety " purposes

Bear Steps, not stairs
We will remember for next time, lol
Bah humbug lol 😊
Lol
Where is Scrooge's brass lion door knocker?
I think that was only used as a screen prop
