Started watching your channel about 6 years ago when I got dropped into a painting position I wasn’t ready for. 6 years later I’m a repair technician in a major us automotive manufacturing company. Thank you! Glad you’ve found success in such a niche TH-cam channel!
I use to bust your balls about only giving good reviews to Devilbiss back when I ran all Walcom spray guns but the Walcoms just didnt last. So my friend in Florida got the DV1 guns and forced me to see the light so I bought the 3 DV1 guns and woow do I love them. The fine atomization and super low operating pressure. I was worried about having to take slower sweeps but I actually like it because i can see what I am doing. Especially with the DV1 clear gun just laying glass before me. They are almost addicting to use.
Gunny, thanks for all the help through out the years. If u remember I started with a devilbiss startingline gun. I've upgraded finally. Got the dv1 clear and the dv1 base, iwata lph80 minigun. And some misc 6 guns. Appreciate the new raw content. Loving it, I watch everyday at work :) also wouldnt mind longer videos also. P.s. I would love to buy a gunman gun from u if u decide to sell any. Cheers man!
Anytime, if u wanna sell any guns let me know. Would love to have one from you as it would mean more than just a spray gun to me. Keep up the videos and I'll be watching :). Cheers!
Just got a dv1 clear today. Came with all three fluid tips, and both the c1 and c2 air cap, which I’ve yet to see happen anywhere else. My packaging had “demo” on it, I’m thinking g maybe the shop I bought it from wasn’t supposed to sell it. Screaming deal. Can’t wait to use it
Also with my DV1 clear gun i have been running the 1.2mm nozzle for high solids clear as it seems to help break up the thicker solid content putting a finer atomization out, and running the 1.3 nozzle for overall and production medium solids clears but I also run the C1 cap that came with it. May be different with the C2 cap
Just picked up a DV1 clear gun yesterday, the other painter wanted a Supernova so we traded. I just learned about the C2 so I'm gonna have to give it a try. My go to is the pro lite and good old TE20 with the 1.3 I also do this for a living a need to replicate factory peel.
Want a heavy coat of clear? Try an Iwata W-400 with a tulip tip in 1.4 , I have used this set up for over 15 years with PPG Aqua Base HS clears and it matches GM OEM orange peal to a T!!!
Is there a real difference between the DV1 clear and DV1 base? The color of the guns always seemed backwards to me 😂. I want to get them both eventually
Just ordered a digital 1.3 c2 to spray my noval spectral 545. Already using the dv1 for base but will be converted to this for clear as well, supernova into retirement 😂
I use the dv1 base coat gun for both. Comes with 1.2 1.3 and 1.4. I usually always have the 1.2 in . And it just works great. I also have a sata mini and Matco's 700$ gun. All work great but that dv1 is the best universal gun that does whatever I need it to. But I'm surprised your flow is wide open and you're not flooding the clear. I use a 1.2 and I turn it 3 turns in and it lays faster that that.
Hi,i got dv1 base 1.2 b+ ,I'm still new using this..may I ask your setup on the spraygun?.. ,I tried use full fan, full fluid,2bar,on spraying solvent and clear..but i feel it's still need to improve..on base it's ok,but when I try to clear coat,it's a little bit dry and too much orange peel.. what's your settings on the spraygun,on base and clear?..thanks😄👍
@reyjr3608 I use the same setup on base and clear. Half turn in on trigger. 1 turn in on fan. 16 psi. Spray with gun about 6 inches on clear. Fairly fast passes. 10 inches away with base. I've since bought a ws400 for clear. And if you're going to be doing alot of painting. Eventually you should get one. The combination of the dv1 and ws 400. Man my jobs have never looked better. The ws400 lays clear effortlessly, makes me feel like it's a gun for do it yourself people. Because it will make the job easier and look better for the inexperienced. But it's also perfect for the pros because it's the best. But I still love my dv1.
@@ryannichols831516psi ,,is that using digital regulator or manual regulator?..if it's in digital regulator, what are the readings in manual regulator? - When u said turn in,,u mean from full right?.. - That ws400 is that a series 2? I'm planning to get 1 too,if budget allow..may I ask your setups on clear? Thanks for your time sharing this..😄👍
Couple of questions i jusy bought the dv1 with c1 cap would lkie to buy c2 cap have you experience with the c2 plus and is it as simple as judt screwing on a new cap
Ive had one of these with a 1.3 and i cant get on with it,i dont know if its my gun but the spray fan is too top and bottom heavy and much slower than my old prolites .Its a brand new gun and i have taken it apart twice now to make sure its as it should be and even tried a 1.2 tip but its the same fan pattern .Ive gone back to my nebula prolite instead for top coat. A lovely looking and built gun but pretty disappointed .
You should return to the supplier. They should spray fine, just like mine. I didn't like the C1 air cap because it was slow. But the C2 seems to have fixed my speed issues.
Dv1 1.3 with C1 aircap spray fan pattern is like No. 8, top and bottom heavy Using pressure between 1bar to 1.5 bar on the digital guage full fan full fluid. Have been changed 3 times from SYD suppliers, 3 brand new guns all same problem very disoppoint
I've noticed the prep&masking without part removal can retard a painters productivity significantly at times. Do they pay you extra for the inconvenience?
Nice job there Gunny can't fault the finish and yeah I think the C2 with the 1.3 is faster than the C1, I like the C1 with the 1.2 as I'm not a fast painter plus the C1 lays it the same if not better than my GTI ProLite T110 👌👊👍 John UK.
Hey Gunny, your video`s have been a massive inspiration for me, even though I`m just a hobby guy in a garage that does race cars. Any tips for how to spray a roll cage? I normally just pressure pack them but it means they wont match the body work.
Hey gunman! I was wondering, i am a fast sprayer, how you are spraying in this video is to slow for me it think. Maybe it looks slow and in real life it is different. But, i am in the restauration business and i am always looking for getting a mirrorshine glass finish out of the gun. My question is, what gun would you prefer to me if you hear my story. What would suit me well.. i am always looking for improvement, so i thought i will ask you, you had so much guns to spray with. 😍 Thanks in advance!
If you’re a fast sprayer go with the Iwata Supernova. I’m a fast sprayer and this gun is super easy to set up and lays down glass out of the box. I’ve used the Supernova for years with no complaints. It can chew through material though, so be mindful of that as well. I see the comment is an older one, but figured someone else may benefit from the reply. Take care.
i have the dv1 digital version with the 1.2mm cap.i use it to apply lechler 29143 clear coat on to prepped carbon fibre panels. im no painter and am struggling to get a decent fan of paint out of the gun. the paint i use is 3-1 mix paint and hardnener then 30-40% thinners. once mixed the paint seems too thick and i have to go quite slow and can only get a fan of paint around 5" wide. any tips? would you add bit more thinners?
i have a dv1 base 1.3 non digital, id like to just buy c2 air cap but not sure if anything else was changed. does anyone one know if there is any difference in gun or nozzle?
My friends trip out when I paint my cars as my Hobbie, I do a better job than most shops around here that charge $1000's for a paint job, I use the GTi pro with the TE20 cap and it works perfect for paint and clear.

My go to clear gun, 1.3 DV1. I enjoy your content keep up the great work

I use it everyday at work I love it. Only thing that sucks sometimes is that it's a little heavy compared to other guns

They all feel the same to me when you get 24 ounces of paint in the cup
The paint looks really smooth! Nice job.
I just got the DV1 and love it. Of course I set it up wrong the first time I used it, but after cursing out myself, I got better.
Is there a real difference between the DV1 clear and DV1 base? The color of the guns always seemed backwards to me 😂. I want to get them both eventually
We use ppg ec530 with DV1 1.4 tip.
How do you like polishing 530?
I did LEARN SO MUCH from you!!! Thank you!!!
Just ordered a digital 1.3 c2 to spray my noval spectral 545. Already using the dv1 for base but will be converted to this for clear as well, supernova into retirement 😂
I want one of them gunman edition gti prolite to buy ,imma big fan of the legend gunman !!!!
I hope they will do another Gunman edition.
I waiting for a Gunman edition DV1 base and clear 😎👊 ahhh I can but dream 👍
Nice Video Gunny 👌🏻
Thank you gunmen injoyed your video stay safe
Speaking of mini guns, the DV-1S is a great little gun.
Would be nice id you made review of the new ANI Black series spraygun.

Never had a problem with the pattern being uneven on the dv1 clear gun. Spray at 22 psi
I have one that I use daily. If it's bottom and top heavy, wind the fluid in more until it evens out. I run mine at ~1.5 - 2 turns out @ 2Bar.
I've noticed the prep&masking without part removal can retard a painters productivity significantly at times. Do they pay you extra for the inconvenience?

Can’t get on with the dv old school gti pro 1.3

Get a mini gun. So many small areas you won't be able to get easily and you'll use less print
@@TheGunmanChannel cheers mate
Hi,which gun you prefer better iwata ws400 or devilbiss dv1 with c2 aircup. Thanks

please explain me the clearcoat settings about the devillbiss TE20 spraygun
Do you paint with water base
What's your thoughts on the 7e7 air cap
that’s my all time favorite on the tekna copper these new gti caps and dv1 caps don’t even come close
a 1.3 would probably be better although I like a 1.2 for bumpers
please explain the settings for the devillbiss TE20 spraygun
29 psi full fan, full fluid. He has mentioned that many times in his other videos
Or 2 bar
i have the dv1 digital version with the 1.2mm cap.i use it to apply lechler 29143 clear coat on to prepped carbon fibre panels. im no painter and am struggling to get a decent fan of paint out of the gun. the paint i use is 3-1 mix paint and hardnener then 30-40% thinners. once mixed the paint seems too thick and i have to go quite slow and can only get a fan of paint around 5" wide. any tips? would you add bit more thinners?
Is there any trusted places to buy these guns in the states?
The link I provided, they'll ship to USA within a couple of days usually. And they're trustworthy definitely.
Hi,where did you buy it?
schweitzer and crosson has the c2 cap
i have a dv1 base 1.3 non digital, id like to just buy c2 air cap but not sure if anything else was changed. does anyone one know if there is any difference in gun or nozzle?
only real difference is the color of the guns and the air caps.
The 1.3 is spraying much faster.
My friends trip out when I paint my cars as my Hobbie, I do a better job than most shops around here that charge $1000's for a paint job, I use the GTi pro with the TE20 cap and it works perfect for paint and clear.
👍👍
YEAH MATE, SMASH ON THAT CLEA-YAH!!!!
🤣🤣👌
😍😍😍😍😍
1.3 noticeably faster m8. Still slower than prolite just judging by your videos.
To slow! I like to pound the clear myself
It is slow but man it's got a nice glass finish
Gti pro lite is a better gun than this new dv1
My 5500 sprays great is quiet and not much overspray. Great consistent results every time. 1.2 rp O. I hate liking sata they are such pricks.
No way. I own both prolite with TE20 cap and the DV1 with C1&C2 cap. The DV1 is flatter like glass. Love it.
i cant believe people care noise of a gun??/ who cares as long as it works
It makes a difference when you spray 8 hours a day
