Alexander Maniatis, Captain Kuro (Klahadore) from the Netflix Live Action Adaptation of One Piece, joins us for an exclusive interview after his time at Comic Con Cape Town. Alex shares some behind the scenes insights into the creation of One Piece, how he brought Captain Kuro to life in a live action format using the original Anime and Manga and psycho-analytical sources of inspiration, and gives some advice for those seeking to pursue a career in acting.

now everyone understand why this live action get success, even the supporting actors gave everything to played their character. Maniakis-san is truly a nakama for every one piece fans, bringing captain kuro alive and even add some psychopath side to captain kuro. I even remember some Kuro's speech to kaya : "klahadore, bring me my tea, brushing my hair, klahadore I missed my mom and daddy... while I want to rip your tongue out!" one of the best moment in episode 4!
Definitely! Such incredible dedication from the whole cast, and it shows on screen 😁🔥
I know Buggy has more flare and Arlong is a much more personal villain while Kuro is the Saturday morning cartoon bad guy of the Live Action villain trio , but I think Kuro had the best fight scene in Season One along with the best speeches. “You will never get a good night’s rest because someone is always waiting to slit your throat. Pirates. Marines. Why even your own crew.” “Freedom. No such thing with a bounty on your head.” *ominous laughter in the shadows*

I watched a lot of interviews with the actors of the project, and the fact that for so many of you it has such value is incredible in itself. One Piece is a story about freedom, hopes and dreams. You talk about your new experiences thanks to OPLA and look happy and inspired. A story that speaks of dreams and the romance of adventure works wonders behind the scenes. Could there be anything more beautiful? You gave the character a second wind and embodied it so well that it gives you goosebumps. I am incredibly grateful to you for Kuro and I hope that your experience with One Piece and us, its fans, is as comfortable as possible. Alex is a cool guy..his character even though he appeared once in the story and sometimes in "Cover pages" of a chapter in the manga..like recent one, Alex nailed the role so right.
The reaction channels on YT, Fans or Non-fans of OP, all of em loved it...his line "I miss my mommy and my daddy" while mocking Kaya..ooh so well done.
Even those reaction channels who started the anime after LA, said Kuro looks just like Alex, the Casting was so on point, Kudos.
The reaction series from Remix by Raven on OnePiece, a must watch.

Agreed! He absolutely nailed the role and I don't think there could even have been another actor to consider for Kuro. Add to that what an awesome, genuine, and all around cool guy he is, and that made this by far one of the best interviews I've ever been able to do! Thanks for tuning in 😁
Remixed by Raven is literally the only reason I ever heard of One Piece. Literally, never had before. I think I saw something about it in Guiness Book of Records......though I am not sure.
Which is really weird to me as I was a Ranma 1/2 fan in the 90's. Now I am infatuated with One Piece. Yes, 45 years old dude, and I am past the time skip in the anime, will be ordering the manga collections and have watched the live action so many times. Arcane is the only show I think I have watched more. Firefly is somewhere in there.
Didn't expect an interview with him to show up in my suggestions but i really enjoyed this! He has a good head on his shoulders and i was even more interested in the non-opla related conversations tbh

He’s more three dimensional. Also I also like the setting being a big spooky house rather than hill going down to a boat.
