No wonder one piece looks so good this guy is a genius
Why is it so cute that everyone calls him Kiki? Even this guy. He had to stop himself from saying Kiki to be professional. 😂
What a charming guy this Marc Jobst is. I was surprised to hear he had worked on some of my favorite shows and now my favorite Story of all time One Piece!
If this show turns out good I hope that first of all we get a season two with this guy in the Director seat and that he gets many future opportunities.
He really seems to be a passionate director who understands his actors and knows how to work with them.
This interview made me super exited about the show. Can't wait for Thursday :)
Never in my life have I ever heard someone call Luffy just "Monkey" lmao.
Monkey is his last name. His first name is Luffy
He's never watched the anime/read manga.
He's only watched the Liveaction which is his first entry to One piece.
I'm sure he's not familiar with how Japan has the First name as the last name.
@@MRBp2024 Yeah I assumed so with is why I explained it. Just thought it was funny.
Shakki in the show calls him Monkey-chan unless you meant real life people.
Well apparently the interviewer said he watched half of one piece which i find now hard to believe . Never seen anyone to this day call the luffy mr monkey lol. This guy might be just reading of notes. The fresh guy who interviewed the lady was better.
@@akazayasu9053 Didn't he say the live action, not the anime.
Remember the interviewer had early access to all 8 episodes.
He said he wasn't finished yet.
He directed my favourite daredevil episode. I dont even rewatch the show that much, but I do rewatch that episode regulary. Its the perfect portray of the character and got the best action the show has to offer, with a lot of nice little moments.(Season 2 Episode 3)
So I have no doubt that his One Piece Episodes will be great aswell
thank you for listing the episode lmfao, and yah thats a great one. Really wish to see him on board for the disney plus daredevil but thats sooo doubtful
So ein Zufall dich hier zu sehen 😂
Super psyched to watch the One Piece Live Action! Everything I’ve seen so far has been nothing but positive

I hope they continue it with Season 2! Enjoyed One Piece so much as a first time watcher of the franchise.
Now I'm watching the anime 💀💀
Try the One Pace cut, it’s the better version
Love Steve Maeda's interview Netherless❤ Manage to Watch it b4 taken Down😂 Marc Jobst Interview is awesome as well. This is so wholesome interviews❤
@@fouadbaneI watch the entire Interview, theres nothing to spoiler shared in his interview for me. Maybe....maybe the last 7-10mins but I doubt that last question itself and his answer is a spoiler btw.
Yeah I was watching it and actually wondered why the video wasn't appearing in my library
Yeah when he asked if it would be released after the show aired I was like, "Erm... I think they might get in trouble for this."
I mean, it was not spoiler, but it was taken down because they were confriming that logue town got cut off from the season, and it seems they didn't want that to get leaked before the release
@@kezorrinNo Smoker was already enough proof
Mark Jobst seems like a real solid guy who loves what he does and genuinely admires the people he works with. Season 2 letsa go!!!!
10:36 Listening to this interview makes me feel sorrier and sorrier for Henry Cavill, and it breaks my heart. You can tell that Emily Rudd came into a work environment with so much love for the original source material. She is a fan who was hanging out with her kin, basically. All that sacrifice paid off for her. You can feel her energy throughout the whole process of making One Piece.
Now here's Henry Cavill, who is so devoted to The Witcher, working with writers who mock the books and a cancerous showrunner who thinks she's a better storyteller than the author of the series. Imagine how depressing it must have been for him.
Stop it with these fucking low blows, dude, seriously. I know exactly what you are talking about. He has only been professional, yet all you Witcher leftovers keep taking opportunities to knock him.
Wait who's knocking him down? Isn't the whole internet behind him now that they know that Lauren had a woke agenda for the show all along?
@@zedetachI think he implied that cavil let his love of the witcher dominate his performance? Idk. To be fair this guy was only involved in the first season so he wasn't there when the show declined
Luckily, in One Piece, there's already Oda monitoring this movie so Emily doesn't need to be another Henry
@@SylviaHoang movie????
I love how he dived in and loved One Piece and understood how difficult it would be to translate it to Live action. I didn't know he did Daredevil I love that show! I love when a director does all they can to make sure an adaption is good. He made sure to be able to transfer it to LA in a way that still is One Piece. He's about to gain a lot of respect from the anime community if this comes out amazing and I have no doubts now that it won't be good.
So excited for tomorrow !
He called him eye-cheero Oda. 😂 you can tell he’s completely new. This is good! There will be many more new people like this who get introduced to One Piece!
Loved how he say to the interviewer, "Sign your life away, man! Dive in!". Goes to show how he appreciates the source material that he wants other to discover this wonderful work of art. ^_^
And he calls Luffy "Monkey", which is technically right, but still funny.
@@y_s4021people referring to Luffy as that is hilarious to me because it's fully understandable but sounds so wierd
Every time I see new clips and interviews about OPLA, it’s getting better and better! I’m geeking out so much… it’s so cool to see my favorite anime/manga since 2006 in a live action! ❤ I hope we get more seasons…
You did a fantastic job with this one! I often hate "adaptations" because they just give up on the original idea and tell their own story, but this project did an incredible job at delivering the "heart" of One Piece to screen, and what changes were made actually improved and tightened up the story quite a bit!
The best thing about the show is it’s both faithful to the source and successful. I really hope other studios take notice as most adaptations these days seemingly want to be as different from the source as they can manage without becoming completely unrecognizable while simultaneously failing miserably at all of that. (Witcher, wheel of time, Rings of power,Cowboy Bebop are all incredible IP’s with abysmal adaptation)
Very intelligent and passionate guy. Another huge win for the Live Action!
I'm sensing that the producers are going to reach out to the people behind the best war scenes in tv and cinema when they get to arabasta..
Like from the battle of the bastards, lord of the rings, maybe even those people from infinity war and endgame..
like as of now, arabasta isn't out of reach as everything is overwhelmingly positive.. marineford is just too early to consider.. but Arabasta Arc, we are definitely going there.
lord of the rings level battle for alabasta or marine ford O.O
We’ve already gotten crocodile season 1 (and proved that one fan theory) no way they didn’t plan out going at least that far.
@@kagato23well that isn't proved that could have been someone else
this Marc guy has such a lovely sincere smile. you can feel he's genuine
Can't wait for Thursday! I started watching one piece about a month before this live action was announced so kinda been holding my breath for this one!
Awesome interview👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you for all your work Marc. You helped bring my heroes to life
I'm loving these interviews!
It's good to know that a great show like "The Witcher" is directing also my favorite "One Piece" 🤩 Seeing the quality they've made from TW, I'm sure that OP will be a huge live-action for the first time. Thanks in advance to this Director!!! 👏😃
He was only involved at its beginning. Now it is awful and doing opposite of what One Piece is and not honoring source material.
@@Flufferz626 yeh but he directed the best episode of it
I can’t tell if he’s complimenting Henry Cavill or saying what he hated when working with him.
I had the Same thought 😂
13:01 Compare this to how Rafe Judkin's treated Brandon Sanderson while making the Wheel of Time adaptation that failed so badly. (Brandon was not the original creator but the man who was selected by Robert Jordan's widow to complete the series after Robert Jordan died. Brandon did so successfully and is also the greatest living fantasy author in his own right.)
Rafe disregarded all writing advice given to him by Brandon and cut him out of the process as early as he could. Brandon found out what would happen after the first couple episodes the same time we did.
judkins is trash he has a masterpiece of an ip and has just utterly destroyed it
I haven't watched or read Wheel of Time, but imo the "named successor" should not be treated the same as the original author of a series.
I don't think Anthony Horowitz gets priority on how they adapt Sherlock Holmes novels for example.
I heard there are a lot of dynamics camera shot in this series! So excited
He called him Kiki!!!
Great job with this interview. Marc Jobst is an amazing interviewee
Great job? Lmao! The guy doing the questions literally changed the subject of the interview to talk about something he liked instead of doing his fucking job.
I love this guy actually
Well done, Sir
Live action show is great!
keep the one piece interviews coming! but just wondering where did the Steven Maeda interview go? it got taken down?
I just watched that video an hour ago. I see it has been removed now. I wonder why.
note: I solved them myself. (The reason is that there were spoilers in the interview.)
@@tail_no.8483 The interview was suppose to come out after the show and it spoil where the season 1 end..
@@nicolaskaito4769 No doubt

*WHAT A LEGEND!!!*
I like how he answered the Witcher question without answering the real question.
Props to my fellow South Africans at Film Africa who got work on this show, it's like I'm dreaming right now!!😮
8:48 Oda said the same thing to Iñaki during his visit. He was chosen because he made them laugh. XD
I love how he mentions the adjective joy so often. If he only knew whats going on currently in the anime lmao
ONE PIECE BOUT TO BLOW UP THIS IS CRAZY
My mother-in-law doesn't watch anime but she watches bad Netflix shows. She also watched Witcher after reading all the books and was confused on their decisions for the show. We showed her the trailer for One Piece and she was so confused but said "this feels like a world." My hubby almost cried hearing his mom is gonna watch this.
If they nail "help me", I'm sold
will we... get a One Piece Live Action pitch meeting ?
It's Netflix, so yes
I hope so
Ofc
You guys mess up and put the wrong interview that should have been release after the show aired lol
A blessing mistake. 😂 I manage to Watch entire Interview b4 taken Down. So wholesome Interview by Steve❤
@@chinhoewong Yeah watch it whole too and i am sure the show will be one of the best live action seeing how much care they put in it. It did spoil how the first season will end lol
@@nicolaskaito4769 I tried watching it but it was private what did they say?
@@nicolaskaito4769 Oh, I see. Rogue Town, yes.
@@OhMabu Just season 1 will end at Arlong park. They couldn't put loguetown in it as the cost for an episode was high and they had only budget for 8 episodes...
awesome
11:10 Was that a shot against Henry? I mean we know he took a very different approach he did his best to try to keep the directors and screenwriters to stay as true to the books as possible.
I'm not sure about that, as Marc really praises Henry's work ethic at around 16:00, mentioning how Henry's work could really make you want to be better.
your amazing
This guy yeah
good job Mark Jobst
Are they going to drop the entire season 1 all at once on August 31?
They are
@@cmt5140you mean “we are”….
Hearing this man talk about the characters gives me hope. Can't wait to watch this tomorrow! He took his time getting to know the characters and source material, consulted the creator and did not race swap the red headed female character. Diversity, not forced woke diversity and story first is something fans will definitely appreciate. The cast is bonestly looking perfect. Except Usop looks too cool and Sanji looks more bad ass without the wig. Regardless they all seem to embody the spirit of the characters so well. Hearing about Cavill's dedication just makes me even sadder that the right people weren't put in charge of that show.
🔥
funny he mention Sun, Light, Hope, that whats the main Character represents. in a dark world Luffy is the Light
The Interviewer seems more like Superhero fans rather than Anime/Manga fans 😂
And the way they talk a lot about Henry Cavill made me wonder, which One Piece character would perfect for Henry?
Me personally Henry as Sir Crocodile would be perfect, but idk 🤔🤭
Henry as Crocodile is perfect
He'd make a phenomenal Iceburg IMO
To be fair, he directed episodes in Punisher, Daredevil and Luke Cage. He has a super hero background, which I think is a good thing to have in an executive producer and director for One Piece. With devil fruit powers and different types of Haki, you can't tell me some of the "pirate fights" in One Piece aren't basically two superheroes fighting.
@@Kevster921 you're right, although Luffy himself don't like to be called superhero, just a pirate 😂
@@erdndi Of course not. Heroes share their meat, and Luffy doesn't want to share any of his meat :P
I was watching the Steven Maeda interview, then it vanished before I finished it
it had some spoilers in it and was supposed to be uploaded after the show aired but they made a mistake hahaha it was up for like 30 mins only
*HANNIBAL DAREDEVIL WITCHER?!?! WWWWWWWWWW 🔥*
Let me tell me Jobst, One Piece world is one of the darkest worlds in fiction its just that it is to the liberty of the reader to understand that and the readers are generally kept from it as it is a shonen anime❤
The Nami scene is gonna break hearts all over again.
Yes but the author focuses more on the positive aspects.
It's supposed to be a happy show.
Yes and no. It has dark moments, but it’d about somebody who finds joy in life despite them.
@@kagato23 that's what I'm saying. It is not dark only becoz we see through luffy.
Think of any atrocity in the world and you can see it happening openly in one piece
Hannibal
As soon as I heard him call Luffy, monkey I knew he hadn't even opened the first chapter or seen the first episode lol c'mon bro
cmon bro he is interviewer he does need basic knowledge he doesnt need to give a f about it... plus in most western countries you first say firstname and then surname thats Luffy Monkey ...
@@jaroslavmihok740Not saying it’s the case for me but as an interviewer of pop culture knowing the material your talking about is kinda key. Making a mistake on the main characters name doesn’t reflect well against him I guess
@@jaroslavmihok740But apparently he has watched almost all episodes, and I doubt anyone in the show ever calls Luffy by "Monkey"? How do you completely miss the name of the main character in show you're watching? Even if he's just preparing the interview as a part of his job, write down what the main character is called...
Henry for Mr 0 please jaja
Did the interviewer call Luffy Monkey lol
He did say later in the interview that he wasn't familiar with the source material, but that he's now interested in checking it out after seeing the Live Action. Which, honestly, is one of the most glowing reviews Netflix and Oda could hope for.
If they can bring in general audiences, that means we get Season 2 and onwards. I think we can all tolerate a few newbies calling him "Monkey" if that's the price for a good live action series.
He is called in full Name Monkey D. Luffy. 😂
Imagine if instead of doing the Japanese tradition of using surnames first, they did it the english way of doing surnames second. Then Luffy's name would be:
Luffy Monkey or
Luffy D Monkey or
Mr Monkey
You can see why they kept things the Japanese way. Imagine calling Garp , Admiral Monkey.
My dude didn't need to say that he hadn't read/seen this IP before watching the show. We already knew when he called Luffy "Monkey." 😂
did he said "i'm almost done with one piece" ???
how...?
I think he's referring to the live action. Not sure how this works, but I've heard some critics were sent the full episodes (although unfinished). Maybe that's the case for this interviewer.
09:30 You can tell the Interviewer doesn't actually watch One Piece because he called him "Monkey" wtf. 🤣
Lmao
Yep, he did say this was his intro to OP. But i wished they got an interviewer who was a fan, but great feedback from nonOP fan
He has done right by Hendry, he will do right by Luffy.
Bro daredevil , punisher, hannibal, the best episode of the witcher, this guy have an fucking good curriculum how many episdes he directed in one piece?
The first two.
It’s kinda sad they can’t interview the actors so they decided to interview the directors instead. Still good interview though…
What he said about Henry is unfair. Luckily, in One Piece, there's already Oda monitoring this movie so Emily doesn't need to be another Henry
11:10 Was he throwing shade at Henry Cavil or was I just reading to much into his statement about great actors and the way they use their fan knowledge? It kinda felt like he was going to compliment Cavil but the way he left his statement made it feel really double sided. He specifies how Emily listened, and didn't bring baggage, then mentions Cavil and is like "great actors let their knowledge guide the performance, not dominate it". I'm gonna throw this out there, if a actor/fan sees a director or script writer absolutely defacing something they love they should 100% be like yeah that is bad don't do this. Listening to the director is good but if an actor who is a fan is telling you this isn't gonna go over well, then maybe listen to them aswell. I could be wrong and he may have meant nothing by it, but it felt a little distasteful to even mention him like that. Especially when he has overwhelming support from Witcher fans, specifically because the show runners were defiling something beloved by a lot of people and he fought back.
I don't think so, especially as he really praises Henry for his work ethic at around 16:00.
We need Robin and Chopper
We need two more seasons for that, impatient jelly.
CGI would be hard, man
@@LathropLdSTwhy 2?
@@andreastroppiana1217 Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak and Little Garden will need a season on their own, with 8 episodes per season

not the first season , he was the director for the opening episode of season 1 and he did an amazing job its still the best witcher episode in terms of action
Because Henry left so no one cared to keep watching knowing he won't be in coming seasons.
Definitely not director fault
Is he living in the ship?? 😂
ooow
When someone calls luffy monkey you know how clueless he is
So this is one of the guys responsible for the bullshit that is Netflix’s Witcher.
Btw, not to be an @$$, but it's "A-cheero" Oda. I had to tell my friend this as well. Japanese doesn't function like, let's say, "Germanic" words :x
it’s not acheero it’s ey-i-chiro oda or eychiro oda. not acheero tf 😭 that’s the wrong way of syllabicating phonetics.
Oda would bother with that
luffy is supposed to be kinda dumb
he’s dumb, but he’s not dumb-dumb.
Nah. Luffy is supposed to be innocent. Void from threat or fear against him.
It won't work in live action... I don't remember who said it, but someone who work in the series said, since this is a live action, he needs to be a bit smarter than he is in the manga
More innocent than dumb
Luffy is carefree not dumb.
So they whitewashed the characters and yet I hear no one complaining about it what’s up with that someone explain
The creator Eiichiro Oda was involved with casting and has stated the nationalities of the manga before, only Zoro is Japanese in the crew. (I assume that's what you were referring to, because many people think that all anime characters are Japanese like the writers, but that's not the case. Luffy is meant to be Brazilian in the manga for example. Or inspired by Brazil since One Piece doesn't take place on Earth.)
Whitewashed who?
Just watched one piece netflix - this is ALL TALK. Really not good and skims the original story in the broadest strokes. Imagine if Buggy directed the story, thats the one piece netflix version, all flashy no soul
No wonder One piece live action is garbage..
By what metric?
