- The Shonan Cookie vending machines are found in the coastal area of Kanagawa prefecture in Japan, one hour by train from Tokyo. Artisanal cookies or “Shonan cookies” are made by a small local company are sold in vending machines located around the cities of Hiratsuka, Oiso and Fujisawa.

Made with only natural ingredients, they taste like expensive cookies but are much cheaper. 120 yen for a bag of three to five cookies. Bargain~! The shapes and names of the cookies are quite fun too.

There's a video game called Yoshi's Cookie that was originally on the NES, and I always wondered why they had cookies that looked the way they did in the game. You guys got almost all of the cookies that video game had! I had no idea that they were all directly inspired by japanese cookies!!!
