I had a very old neighbor who's daughter along side with her own family moved to his from Venezuela. Maybe his daughter had dual citizenship, but I doubt her daughters and son had it.
I'm guessing that perhaps they were salvadorians who moved to venezuala before the 70s and now their kids have chosen it's better to live in El Salvador than Venezuela

These videos are extremely interesting. A video exploring the difference between refugees, asylum seekers and migrants would be really interesting
I traveled a lot in a previous job. I visited with a young Venezuelan woman in the Orlando airport to pass the time and found out that her entire extended family had left that country. She and one of her sisters had come to the US, but the sister missed her parents and had since joined them in Spain. They were apparently a fairly well to do family and felt they would be targeted by the party in power there. She said most of their wealthy neighbors had already left, most of them to Spain.
I sat next to a Mexican doctor on one flight from Orlando to Atlanta (everything goes through Atlanta) and had a chance to visit with him some. He still had a practice in some Mexican border city and still had a house in that Mexican city. One of their neighbor's daughters was kidnapped in Mexico and the family paid a large ransom to get her back, all they while knowing that paying the ransom wasn't a guarantee she would be freed alive, but it worked out that time. He moved his entire family to San Antonio and his routine now involved his driving to the US border city across the river from where his practice was. He would be joined by guards in the US city and they would drive to his clinic where he worked (still guarded) all week, then he would rejoin his family in the US. Stories like this help me understand why some would risk all sorts of dangers to come to the US. It also highlighted the impact that having financial resources has in being able to escape from a bad situation. And it made me realize how lucky we are to have a fairly safe country to live in.
As an American I’d love to watch a breakdown of the Central American one. Here it is such a politicized subject it’s hard to find any straight facts on what’s going on. Thank you!

The side the US support in the Soviet Afghan was was the Mujahideen who eventually upon winning that war after the Soviet withdrawal split into numerous factions which then triggered the first Afghan Civil war
The First Afghan Civil war would end when the Taliban (who are predominantly Pashtun Sunnis) invaded Afghanistan and through better coordination and a supply route from Pakistan and Saudi funding wiped out most of the disparate Mujahideen forces.
They then formed the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
What was left of the Mujahideen coalesced into the northern Alliance and held out for years until the attacks in September 11. 2 days earlier the supreme leader of the Northern Alliance, the main US contact during the Soviet Afghan war, had been killed.
Subsequently the US would Invade Afghanistan and with the help of the Northern Alliance, topple the Emirate. The Norther Alliance would then found the Republic of Afghanistan the country we see today with “muh WAmen’s RigHts” and stuff.
However the Taliban was not completely driven out cause the US got distracted by perhaps the most idiotic geopolitical decision of the 21st century (the Iraq war). The Taliban then launched the 3rd Afghan Civil war (the 2nd is unimportant).
In the ensuing year the Taliban have regained a foothold.
While much weaker than at their height pre 9/11, they are much more powerful than their weakest back in 2002
The US and the Taliban were never allies and the only peoples who think that are those who see all Afghans as one homogeneous blob of cave dwellings terrorists
Afghanistan and the Afghan people are far more complex than the “muh US funded Taliban” understand. Unfortunately unless one is willing to let go of their agenda, it will forever prevent them from looking deeply in what has to be the longest continuing conflict in the planet.

All across Africa movements started in the 1960s and 70s for home rule, to get Independence from the European Colonizers, end of 1970s, they were all ruling their own Nations, along come the 1980s and these Independent Nations called Europe up asking for help as they had no food, or water..
Maybe they should have thought of that before calling Europeans as evil racist etc...
@@abw48 I don't think that's the case for all of Africa. Some countries like Morocco, Rwanda are doing better while countries like South Africa, Somalia and the Sudans are doing worse. Generally speaking it's better now than in the past. The same can also be said of Europe. Europe is a rich continent. However, Germany, Yugoslavia and Italy were in much better shape than now while countries such as Poland, Spain and Estonia are having it the opposite way

Refugee from Tibet, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Srilanka, Pakistan comes to India every year.
We also have Tibetan Refugee markets here. There are earning thier own and living peacefully and safely in our country.
In past, refugees came to India from Persia, Middle east, and even Europe during WW2.

I think a video on African migration is needed, that was a confusing map so please do a video explaining the reason migrants are sometimes passing each other. Separately, Spain was the one country that had ‘stateless’ listed as one of the largest contributors to its immigration, why (is it mostly linked to Myanmar) and do we know where these people are moving from?
The Rohingya are a people that have become stateless on a large scale quite recently, but there's a lot of people around the world who have been stateless for decades, or even for generations. The Roma and other 'gypsy' peoples are quite noted for large numbers of them being stateless even in Europe. Spain's influx of stateless people may have (though I'm speculating here, as I'm not familiar with the Spanish policies in question) have more to do with statelessness being less of a hurdle to requesting refugee status in Spain than it is in many other countries, not necessarily with historic ties or a particularly strong desire to move to Spain specifically.

There are Over a million refugees are in Bangladesh, our government accepted them even though our country no where near rich and is severely overpopulated.
if your country read out statements from each of those million people in the UN I'm sure more action would be taken

And you do realize that we are not bound to let them stay in our country, they could just shut the border like thailand but we did not. @@abw48 as long as the people in charge were mostly benefiting. When they left,in some cases they took personels with them and destroyed infrastructure or deemed it unfair to just leave after the achievements made so, they'd create some system of dependence on the colonies.
I also want to learn about Africa. In more detail: including climate refugees and post-colonial involvement.
If everyone seems to agree the borders in Africa are so bad, arbitrary, and driving conflict (I don't disagree) why don't the African countries just agree to swap land? Most African countries have been independent long enough for this to have happened. Just seems odd because it's common sense the borders are bad but the logical solution is never done and instead we just continue to blame the horrible borders (which again, I agree they're awful) Europeans drew long ago when there's been enough time for the borders to have been fixed.
The problem is that most countries in Africa are composed of several ethnic groups or hundreds of tribes, and sometimes those ethnic groups extend across several countries, so it isn't as easy as swaping lands, it would be more like creating hundreds of new countries.
Some countries in Africa are failed states, how can you expect that a countrie that can't even run itself to coordinate with other nations the creation of new countries???
You have to also consider the fact that most of them are run by dictatorships who have no interest in talks and even less in giving up land.
African dictators are ok with the borders so nothing changes.

There used to be a sizable community of Portuguese descent in Venezuela, especially from the island of Madeira. During the peak of the crisis a lot of them returned.
It was also interesting to note that a perhaps more than a half of Middle Easterns refugees did *not* end up in Europe. We sometimes forgot to have that on mind.
And of course it would be great to see a detailed video explaining the situation in Central America, and especially Africa.
What about migrations in Europe? From, To and Out of it? In detail with a full episode of course if you could!

Most Eastern Europeans who live in Western Europe are there to work, but regularly visit their home countries and have no particular desire to permanently move to Western Europe. I think a more prominent factor driving internal migration within Europe is the brain drain of countries like Greece, Ireland and Portugal that has been going on since the 2008 crisis (although it has slowed down significantly).

Nearly 5,5 million migrants and the second largest refugee crisis in the world in a country with a population less than 30 M without a full armed conflict is so sad. There's more venezuelans in other countries than in the biggest cities like Caracas, Valencia, Maracaibo or Ciudad Guayana together. Fall in oil production is not the cause of the Venezuelan refugee crisis, but the authoritarian regime which destroyed the economy.
Oil prices were much worse in the late 80's and yet, such diaspora didn't happen then.

The reality is that most of those migrants will adopt the culture of the country of destination, and not the other way around.

Asia starts in the west at the Ural mountains and anatolia, you could argue Sri Lanka is more south central Asia but Burma is very much south east asia.

The largest immigrant groups in pakistan are afghan ,indian and chinese etc the indians are mostly located in Sindh or punjab while chinese are found in the more developed cities. The afghan live in kpk or even balochistan.

@@HELLO7657 The problem is that the ethnic groups tend to fight each other over basic resources like food and water. As long as Africa is poor it will probably continue to happen as people use others as scapegoats for why they can’t feed themselves

@@papaicebreakerii8180 it's not food and water, its political power. Many times in a country one ethnicity makes up most of the political spectrum while some are left out and that causes tension

1. I think when you put the list of countries that seek refuge in Spain you meant to write Venezuela not Colombia as number 1.
2. A notable country that provides asylum to many refugees is Lebanon. With a population of around 5.5 million they have over 1 million refugees (Syrian, Iraq, Palestine...).
About your first point, if the list is from before 2014, then it is probably right. There were a lot of colombian refugees during the conflict with the FARC.

Why are people from Sri Lanka specifically going to France?

Exactly I dunno a lot of details but France has generally been friendly towards Sri Lankan Tamils. Would love to know why.
Because Britain, which was the main destination for Sri Lankan refugees in the midst of the war, closed easier access for them as the situation began to calm down. Many people who crossed the world to gain access to Britain were arrested en route to Calais in northern France as immigration policy began to tighten. From these people who could not access Great Britain, was born the Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora in France.
The French organization for the assistance and regularization of refugees until recently considered the situation in Sri Lanka to be "critical", and thus received asylum requests from Sri Lankan Tamils with more kindness. At that time (and I don't know if it is still applicable today), there was a better chance of obtaining asylum in France than in many other countries in Europe.
And then, due to its proximity to the United Kingdom, France has also become a springboard to London. Many people (I mention this because I know some) who were able to be regularized in France, then obtained citizenship years later, were able, thanks to French nationality and the Schengen system, to join their relatives in UK.
Today, the situation of asylum seekers in France is ambiguous. Because, as the war ended in 2009, and the situation in northern Sri Lanka isn't bad at all, French asylum request office began to distrust asylum seeking request made by Sri Lankan tamils. Many Sri Lankan tamils who come to France can be categorized as "Economic migrant", as they don't fled any danger, but seek to settle in Europe, because of poverty or lack of opportunities in Northern Sri Lanka.
But there is still many Sri Lankan tamils who request asylum in France, they are in the top nationalities in asylum seeking. They are helped in their administrative procedure by strong community associations, cultural organizations,... Many of these asylum seekers have already relatives in France. For others, there is still the "British dream" in their mind, because they know English, they have relatives in England or elsewhere, they think that the must for them is to go in Great Britain.
N. B : All migrants who come from Near and Middle East, Southern Asia or North East Africa, and seeking to go in England, have to cross France and notably it's northern side (Nord Pas-de-Calais). It's why there is some issues in France about the migrant crisis.
The report on Sri Lanka is completely wrong, at least the countries that went as refugees during the war have not been identified at all.

in srilanka after 2009 ,i dont think anyone going out from the country as refugees.Before 2009.yes .Now whole island is a pretty peaceful place.There was only one incident upto now for last 12 years and it wasnt caused by tamils. people migrate to developed countries for economical purposes.
