Here we have two 200 series Land Cruisers as a comparison between a 2008 early model and a 2016 late model 200 series landcruiser.
Both share the same frame, KDSS system, suspension, 5.7L V8 381hp engine and more.
In this video I will go over the main differences between the two for those considering a 200 series and if it's worth to pay 2x more for a 2016+ or even for a heritage vs non-heritage model.

I do love the fact that Toyota gave you less and charged more for the Heritage. Love my cool box though!
I always wondered how do those cool boxes work? Thermoelectric? The HVAC system?
@@TobyCostaRica it runs through the air conditioning. It gets really cold. Always keep 6 water bottles in it and if we are on the road we will put sandwiches or snacks in as well.

Twin jerry can holders handy when doing extended multi week trips. Get twin jerry can holders on one swing bar and spare wheel on other swing bar.

Yes indeed! The only issue I had is with the BSM Malfunction error seems like something got hit on rear bumper from the previous owner and the sensor might got damaged. I’m trying to find who works on this in Colorado and haven’t found yet. If you know anyone please let me know
Quick question please do you have to be in 4 lo to lock the center differential on the 200 series? Or can you press the button to lock the center diff during normal driving conditions in four high? Thank you.
Great question. The 7 pin mod on a 80 series, allows you to click a button and have center locked when in 4H. As far as I know, this is not available on the 200 series, I will research if this mod if possible.
Are the diesel V8s also as reliable? We get them here in South Africa on the lc200. Planning on buying a 2018/19 lc200 in diesel. Love the channel! Keep up the good work

Because the US import rule is 25 years..
I want one so bad though, that Maybe I will import on to 🇨🇦 this year as their import rule is 15 years. Just have to keep CDN plates for 10 years.

Ok Ayana 200 series myself and always enjoy your videos. I’m just curious if the 300 was sold in the USA would you get one over at 200 series? I’m not talking about Alex form I’m talking about the pure land cruiser 200 versus 300. Just curious if you would keep the 200 with the V-8 or go for the 300? Thank you.
I would stick with the 200 series.
Think about this, at 250k miles, you could buy a V8 200series with confidence, can the same be said with a V6 Turbo?
They say tow capacity is the same, but what about at a 8% uphill grade? How about up Dunes? Sure the 300 is beautiful, but the heart matters.
Now, if that was a 300 series with a V8 Diesel engine.. Then I would take the 300.

Get a bridle for front recovery points to distribute force to chassis rails evenly for violent snatches. Protect ur investment.
I have a 2011 lc200, and I want to upgrade it into a full Offroad (sand) rig, lift it, beedlock rims, tires (size up), suspension, bumpers and skid plates, lights, etc... what's your advice?
I'd go adjustable reservoir shocks. I will show my install video soon, with the goal to make adjustments when the time calls. Beadlocks makes sense so you can air down low.. Makes all the difference in the dunes.
Make sure you get some ActionTrax for those times you get stuck..Best boards in the sand. I have them for sale 15% off, new.
I've got the 200 series 2008...but the GX version. Also I thinkit's meant for the European market. It is different in several ways. It doesn't have the curved hood, it has a 4 liter V6 Manual, an OEM 6th wheel on the back, an OEM winch, a Rear Locker and.......a Tape Recorder :-) . The tape recorder is great i guess as it gives dedicated buttons for the AC.
I noticed that the 2008 has the black buttons on the handles to open the doors, the 2016 doesn't have it. Does that mean the 2016 doesn't auto open?
2016 has the auto opening doors (Keyless) it just hid the button better building it into the handle and color coordinating it.
You mentioned you'll be putting "the best" suspension on your 2016 soon. I assume that's BP51s, but I'm wondering if you know anything about ADS shocks on a 200 and how they compare. Cheers

It's not the BP-51.. as it's not top dog for 200 series suspension.

Have you ever had a LX 470 ? If so what year would you recommend ? I have a 1995 LC 80 series triple locker 149,000 miles & don’t off road . Good condition inline 6 looking to upgrade to a V8 LX 470 . Thx great info & videos . 👍⚾️

I have had about 10 LX470s and also some 100 series LC.
LX has the AHC.
2006-2007 is best with 275hp VVti... then it's the 2003-2005.

I bought a 2004 toyota landcruiser couple of months ago with 95000 miles for 17,500$. Do you think i overpaid? Upgraded with 255/80/17 falken wildpeaks and getting 2 inch OME lift this weekend. Not liking the electronics inside but i will live with it.
That's a good price, 95k is low miles.

You know how they would say the Land Cruiser is low key and the LX570 more flashy? Well, nowadays that the Land Cruiser is so rare, they are Noticed, and if you build one, you risk causing accidents from everyone taking their eyes off the road, to stare at your Rig. Land Cruisers are therefore too dangerous to take out on public streets.

The 2024 300series in Australia has only the rear hatch door it sucks , and the motor is a V6 twin turbo diesel replacing the V8 twin turbo diesel , the 4cl single turbo diesel is in the new 2024 79series replacing the V8 single turbo diesel
How is V6 TT Diesel compared to the V8 TT Diesel?
@@CruisingTheLand they did a drag race V8 quicker off the line but V6 caught it because it's got 2 extra gears in the transmission , they say if the V8 had the 2 extra gears the V6 would be toast , the V6 is called a hot V the twin turbos sit on top in the centre off the motor , and some say it burns oil ? Time will tell they seem to be alright but don't sound as good as the V8

We had the LX570 15 years and out 250k trouble free miles.
My wife was ready for something new. The guy that bought it put 37s, Lift, armor etc...

Who needs two Jerry Cans? You do if you drive a LX 570 or Land Cruiser anywhere off road. The foolishness of Toyota for putting such a small gas tank in a vehicle that gets 10-13 mpg city is beyond me. If I am going off road I would have at least two as well.
My Tundra when off roading gets around 8-10 mpg but it has a 38 gallon tank. I'm not worried. This vehicle only has a 24 gallon. So stupid.
Lol, agree. But you can always install the Long Range tanks in the spare tire compartment to get more fuel.

yes. and bringing thrnprice down from 90k to 65k will usher in all lot more buyers, but likely take a chunk of 4Runner owners. And maybe a new demographic at the lower price.
@@CruisingTheLand maybe the new 4runner will be more basic in the current prices at $50k , base LC 1958 under $60k GX550 over trail under the $70k all price points ,is the sequoia TRD PRO. or LX600 even needed ? $80-$110k price point they are more 3row luxury family school bus

I agree, these LCs get about 14-16 MPG.
If it was Diesel it would definitely be over 20mpg
