When I started watching this channel, the one thing I *NEVER* would have predicted was that Brad would become a Bjork superfan. This is the best possible outcome. lol
The giant smile on Brad's face the entire song is everything! I don't think he frowned once. lmao. This is the Bjork I was hoping you would get a chance to experience. Her music is a journey that is constantly morphing and evolving.
Bjork is indeed “ear candy” as Brad says. I’m usually in agreement with Lex. But I’m surprised that Brad got this one. I’ve been wondering what sort of music would speak to him. Is see now that he appreciates genius.
The thing about Bjork, (specifically the first 3 or 4 albums), is she would create all the loops and beats (mostly) on her own. She wasn't just a really unique singer with a magical voice, singing lyrics... she created the entire soundscapes from what she heard in her head, and filled them beyond capacity with emotion, honesty, passion, and a complete disregard for what anyone might think or say about her many "odd or strange" nuances, because to her, she was just being completely truthful and sincere to herself. Which is what the best artists should always aspire to be. Passion and honesty resonates.
Wow, I love your reactions to Bjork. It's a joy to see you discovering her immense talent and creativity. I'm so glad you're taking it in the way it deserves to be. So many more tunes to discover from her.
I love Brad's reaction to Bjork.... she is a genius and you have so many more songs of hers to enjoy... each one is very unique and each one will have you smiling all the way through.
This is a very comical reaction from these two. I laughed a good deal. These two are just great together and I always enjoy their reactions. But it is funny to see Lex lost for once.
HILARIOUS!!!! I KNEW Brad was gonna love Bjork's diction. But then he asks Lex and she like, "Fine. Everything's fine." When it's clearly not. Hahaha Best show on tv!
I know how to get Lex to meet Brad in the middle. Go back to the days Bjork was the lead singer for a band called the Sugarcubes (1980's). Their music was more like pop but still had a lot of Bjork's quirky essence. So, take a listen to the following Sugarcubes songs: Motorcrash, Cold Sweat, Birthday, or Hit.
Brad's love for female singers with unique vocals and styles is relatable. I like a lot of various types of music and songs, but there is just something about alternative female singers they just draws me in. I also love how perplexed Lex is to see Brad so enthusiastic about these singers, it's like she is finding out about a new side to him.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was someone who strongly recommended this in the comments of your 1st Bjork reaction! This song always really moves me. It's a PERFECT song to start your day. Just finished actually watching this, and Brad's reaction is AWESOME. Great video. Play this more! I bought the single (with a bunch if different remixes, but the original radio cut is perfect, and can't be improved, lol).
I appreciate you guys so much for doing this. This song means so much to me and she's incredible. Her lyrics are out of this world!!!!! And oh listen to some live versions!!!
This one seemed like opposite of the earlier reactions: now Brad's the one making off the wall musical analogies and metaphors and now Lex isn't really there for it, but reservedly and politely calls it "interesting". love it! And thanks for keeping the music reactions so eclectic. It's what makes you guys a must-watch everyday.
I couldn't quite tell if Lex was so shocked by Brad being all smiles and totally digging it, baffled by Bjork's music or a combination of the two. Bjork is definitely one of a kind, a very unique soul and playfully eccentric personality!
I'm a huge Bjork fan and Hyperballad is hands down my favorite of her songs. The first time I heard it, it immediately opened my world to electronic as a legit artistic expression. I had primarily been into rock, R&B, pop music before that, and after, it was like I was open and ready for everything. I can't say that any other song or even artist has opened my world the way that Bjork did.
I'm always surprised when real artistry is embraced by the general public. You don't see it often, but something about Bjork's music seems to really reonate with people, a lot more than I imagined. Personally, I love off-the-beaten-path: XTC, Zappa, Talking Heads, Primus, They Might Be Giants, Captain Beefheart, Television, Laurie Anderson, and so many more.
Lex, you cracked me up at 5:46! I am so much like her. I don't always connect with a song on my first listen. People like us can still appreciate the artistry and are willing to keep listening to understand the intricate details. Brad, I'm glad you found a sound you can embrace!
I know Brad is usually looking for the meaning in the song and Lex enjoys the vibe, so it was pleasing to see Brad just get lost in Bjork's amazing vocals. Also I've never seen this video, it was brilliant. Big time sensuality and Venus as a boy are both great Bjork tracks you should listen to.
This made me so happy. You two are so different yet complimentary. I’m a Bjork fan too but hearing Brad’s reasons why he’s a fan are soooo charming! It’s like Lex with Robert Plant!!!! Love you two
Look out Lex Brad's in LURRRRVEEE 😆 So great to see Brad so animated and wrapped up in a song. Bjőrk is a truly unique artist and I luuurrrrve her too ❤
What I always got from this song was that she wasn’t literally living on the top of a mountain, wondering what it would be like to jump off. But that she was in a relationship which felt safe but she still wondered what her life could be if she ended it and jumped off the metaphorical cliff so to speak.
Yea, her music is hard to put your finger on, but it’s amazing. It’s not just her voice and lyrics, but her accompanying music fuses so well with her vocals, it’s like magic.
Have seen Björk in 1997 with Mark Bell in a discotheque live. It was mesmerizing. Mark Bell from LFO was a giant of electronic music and techno. A time you still could just party with Bjórk. This song was also on the set, live!!! Was in good company, a night I won't forget ever!!!
@@vinayjacobjohn533 The version of the album is the one that has aged a lot, but I think The Fluke Minimix (the one in the promotional video), still sounds pretty good.
Brad being 100% into Bjork is a bigger twist than anything M Night Shyamalan could write. Yet, it makes everything before make total sense. The puzzle pieces of Brad have fallen into place.
Bjork is one of those people who is so intelligent that they almost seem like they belong in a nut house. Not only has she produced like 90% of her own music, from scratch, but also builds her own sounds and sonic frequencies through sound synthesis modules. Oh, and that one time she whooped the paparazzis ass at the airport.
So true. Every time I watch interviews with her, you can tell she's the smartest person in the room by a long shot. It irritates me in the Sugarcubes interviews because the other band members blather on and talk over her - a lot.
"what situation do you listen to this in?" my immediate thought was, "ehm, every situation?!" and then brad says exactly that! xD and yes, it's total ear candy. one of my top three björk songs. i like you folks! great music selection. keep on! :)
Brad, you got excellent taste! You absolutely must listen to Joga, to me her most beautiful song. And you also should check out the Sugar Cubes, the band she sang in before she went solo. I'm sure you'll love it. I saw them in concert & I am so glad I have these memories, it was great!
When you understand how strange and violent and magical Icelandic mythology is, and how much it informs the Icelandic culture and a lot of her music in turn, you realize how intensely romantic the lyrics of the song are. Her style kind of matches Iceland in this weird way, where the music is sometimes rough, sometimes jagged, sometimes fire, sometimes ice. The trouble with talking about Bjork as a vocalist is that she's kinda in this rare class of her own where she's not even singing anymore, she's using her voice as an instrument. In some cases, literally. In fact, if you check out anything off the album Medulla, it'll blow your mind. Everything is a 'Capella, from instruments to vocals and noises and everything in between. She really pushed the boundaries of what can be accomplished with just voices working together on that album
My All-Time Favorite Musical Composition by A Solo Artist: Hyperballad by Björk Guðmundsdóttir "I throw little things off, like car parts, bottles and cutlery, or whatever I find lying around. It's become a habit, a way, to start the day. I go through all this, before you wake up. So I can be happier, to be safe again with you." The GoodMan's Daughter knows of the Creator, Destroyer, and Hyperman of The Godverses 👐🙏🗣. She sings to us the HyperBallad of the Twin Flame Journey to the Christ Conciousness of Enlightenment ☀️. She knows the Feminine Energy first awakens to the journey, despite the physical appearance of the vessel, we are all given Feminine and Masculine energies as Yin and Yang ☯️. The Feminine energy first has to heal the inner wounds within, to release the pressures and expectations of the outside world; the parts/roles they expect her to play, the bottles that contain the energy in which they prescribe to her to fulfill the role in which she was assigned through affirmitive subconcious labeling, and the cutting words they project when she doesn't do as she is told. She's knows to begin, is to stand upon the peak and throw away the ideas and labels they placed upon her subconcious mind to control her like a puppet. She knows to cut away the negative people, places, and things that made her feel unsafe with her own Masculine energy within the vessel of Self. She knows as long as she feels unsafe with him in her skin, she will continue to feel threatened by Masculine energies in other skins. Once the Feminine energy has healed, and flown atop the mountain like the pheonix rising, then she finally feels safe enough to awaken her Masculine energy to begin his Dragon healing journey. *I've said since childhood, that Björk sings the songs of my heart. Her gospel became to me, one of the keys to reading the map of human existence. With her words as guiding lights, I was able to throw out my car parts, bottles, and cutlery, and whatever lies were told about me. Her music helped to free my Spirit, and allow my Inner Child to shine in it's purest form, like a white swan with poetic pagan wisdom. Thank you, Björk.
At three and a half min, he’s like, “listen to the changes.” She tries, and suddenly when the strings hit, you can see her get pulled in, like, “what the heck is happening to me?” Meanwhile bro vibin out hella
Bjork is the Goat for all time. Nothing but love, love love. Also this song really freaks me out when I dwell on the lyrics. Its scary the shit that goes on inside peoples heads.
Ive been in love with Bjork since like the mid 90s when I was a young kid, and I would see her Music videos on MTV ( Sneaking to watch most of the time ) and everything about her videos just stuck with me.
In my eyes, Bjork is the ultimate embodiment of a 'vocalist.' She has the chops to absolutely belt out with the best of them but she has and is still constantly experimenting in her vocal expression and how she can best get across an emotion through a song. It doesn't just stop with her vocals; the music surrounding them is consistently experimental yet fun to listen to. As far as vocalists go, I consider her the top tier of any I've yet heard.
If Aliens ever visit Earth, Bjork should make first contact! She's the closet thing we have on Earth to a Cosmic Alien, they'll love her and she'll feel right at home in their company. Her face and vocal noises will just make sense to Aliens. ❤️😳🤣🤣🤣🙏
He gets it!!! ❤️💓❤️ It's like she paints with her vocal chords. You NEED to hear The Sugarcubes (her first band)... Birthday, and Hit! Amazing songs. ❤️❤️❤️
Been a big Bjork fan for 36 years and had the opportunity to grow along with her in real time. Like any artist who's had a long career, context is needed when you're plucking singles out of a hat. She's a true originally unique and special artist. There are hordes of us who will protect her at all costs.
When I started watching this channel, the one thing I *NEVER* would have predicted was that Brad would become a Bjork superfan. This is the best possible outcome. lol

It is fascinating to hear Brad wax poetic describing sound for once instead of Lex.
And the album _Post_ is a gem. Isobel is my favourite from it. I think they should react to Isobel next.
Oh! Oh! ....... Alanis Morissette is getting jealous of Brad's new flame
Headphones is an awesome song. Think it's from same album as Hyperballed. All in all an amazing album. 90s music was some rhe best.

Perfectly put. I was delightfully surprised. I can't ever not smile listening to her

Yes her sincerity adds so much to her musical talent! Her love songs hit in ways very few other love songs do.
Bjork doesn't do anything "mostly on her own" until the 5th album.
I met Bjork before a concert of hers when she came up to me in line. She was a trip. Really nice and uninhibited.
Back when she was in a band called Sugarcubes

Björk is a legit genius. Artists that have their own genre are Bowie, Björk and Kate Bush.

Kate Bush is one of her biggest influences.
totally. if i had to name it, i would call it.... "pop"
Bjork is an artist that didn't really accept any labels (even "avante garde"). She followed her bliss and let us follow along.
She’s totally unique that’s for sure!

Pitchfork's n.2 song of the 90s, a straight classic, what modern paganism sounds like, from the land of elves.
Been a big Bjork fan for 36 years and had the opportunity to grow along with her in real time. Like any artist who's had a long career, context is needed when you're plucking singles out of a hat. She's a true originally unique and special artist. There are hordes of us who will protect her at all costs.
Brad loves Björk and I'm freaking here for it!
Love how Lex is scratching her head and making side eye laughed my ass off!
You are amazingly right! EAR candy for sure!!!! Her live version is absolutely outstanding....
I have one thing in common with ya Brad. I have also been mildly obsessed by Bjork at one point in my life. She's very interesting.
Man, you are so right. Ear candy. Thanks for posting your reaction to this genius singer.
