The fact these guys were in their twenties when they wrote this just shows their brilliance and how ahead of their time they were not only musically but lyrically. This is stuff people in their fifty and sixties onward writes about let alone some young adults.

I bought this album when it came out at 17 years old for the song MONEY. Next thing I knew TIME was my favorite. I never paid any attention to the words, just liked the song. Next thing I knew I realized the lyrics and got me thinking of friends and family. Fast forward to now at 68 years old and it brings a tear, so does the whole album. How they were ably to write these lyrics or the Beatles as well in their 20's is beyond me.

My first memory of music was this song when I was 5. It was 1973 and my family were moving back to Texas from Michigan. At some point we made a road stop. It was just my mom and I in the truck and this song came on. I was immediately struck by it. The intro made me think of an old western movie. But when David Gilmour's guitar solo came on, I literally saw bright glowing green. For that moment I was in a trance. When I got older and understood the lyrics it was like getting slammed all over again. Dark Side Of The Moon isn't just and album. It's a masterpiece that no one in our lifetime will ever duplicate. It was a rare moment of perfection.

And the band flipped through it for five seconds, said "Thank you", threw the book out the window, and set about writing their own book.

Other than the track Money, this album was created at a time entire albums were listened to at once. It is really the only way to appreciate Dark Side of the Moon, along with virtually all Pink Floyd albums, indeed, most of the albums of the era. From the glory days of AOR, or album oriented rock, FM radio dj’s would almost exclusively avoid single tracks, instead doing entire LP album sIdes or both sides. Often including conversations with artists, producers, and other conversational asides. Nothing like this will ever be heard again. Glad you played this, but be aware that individual cuts do not capture the spirit or intent of this album.

I remember the first time I heard The Dark Side Of The Moon (I was about 10 years old). My parents had quite a collection of music albums, so I was listening to quite modern music for the time - but this was otherworldly! How can anyone put the sound of a clock, money jingling, a helicopter from left to right, someone laughing in a song? I was absolutely thrilled! And yet I didn't understand it at all (I was born in Czechoslovakia and of course I didn't speak English - which unfortunately I still don't). When I later found out what lyrics these pieces of music contained, I was amazed at how deep and true Pink Floyd's lyrics were. They are still timeless today. Have a great 2022 everyone!

One of the greatest way to listen to this whole album is through speakers and eye shades. Taking vision open up a whole other realm. Listening to it with speakers the music interacts with the room and you get a wild soundstage. Grab a cd of it (Mobile Fidelity) you thought you heard something it will take you to a whole nother level. Awesome reaction.

They have a VERY unique sound. I've been looking for another band like them for 30 years. The song you tuned in here is one that will grow on you in a huge way as you two grow older. If this is truly your first time hearing this, give it ten years. The impact it can have on your life is unparalleled in my humble opinion.

Fun fact: the part after he says “the song is over, thought I’d something more to say” isn’t actually Time, but is a reprise of the album’s opening track Breathe (same chord progression/structure/etc, essentially another verse of Breathe added in 2 tracks later)

Osiyo. Folks need look up the musicians that have Native tribal America influences in their music. Even Jimi Hendrix is part Cherokee. Interesting guitar players in hx.

My all time favorite band. It's so important to listen to the complete albums in one sitting the way they were meant. (Concept albums) Very deep rabbit holes with Floyd. Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Meddle, Wish You Were Here, The Division Bell and their Live at Pompei concert in the 70s.

Wow… a Meddle reference! You’re a true aficionado - hardly anyone knows that album. My first listen to Meddle came with Pioneer studio-grade headphones on. “Echoes” re-wired my neural pathways forever.

Feeling the music here for sure, t get goose bumps from them still and I've been listening to them since 1968! Pink Floyd is a music genre to themselves, and rank with the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and even Beethoven or Mozart for the incredible musical legacy they have left to mankind. People who love great music and profound themes and subjects will be listening to them a thousand years from now. Great choice, try Have a Cigar next. Enjoy! 🎵

Pink Floyd is Legendary, they are in a category all their own! Their "Dark Side Of The Moon" album, (the album this song is on), sold over 45 million copies worldwide, the most by any Rock Band.
The album spent 937 weeks on Billboards Top 100 Albums of all Time List, that's over 18 years! Again, the only Rock Band to achieve such an accomplishment, the album in second place on the list is around 400 weeks.
You guys should check out their song "Sorrow" at their 1994 Pulse Concert, the same concert you guys reacted to "Comfortably Numb" live.

Good analysis. You dialed into it. What always got me was when he's warming his bones besides the fire, meanwhile, across the field, someone else's time has run out. The bell is tolling, and the priest is reciting the "magic spells" for the person.

What makes this song stand out for me is the all black female choir, the 2nd you hear one you know it. They have a very specific sound that no other choir are able to duplicate. For me it adds just that right touch and really makes the song that much more moving, powerful and full of emotion. The vocal wailing is fenominal! I love it.

You guys should give their song "Childhood's End" a go!! It's not requested as much but just as great in it's own way. Editing to say that 222 is represented in the video twice. I'm the weirdo who looks at signs as a spiritual connection. It really was a fitting day for the song.

the thing I love most about this song is that its the whole scope of a life, Throughout the song hidden in the drums is a heartbeat. That's the life. it only stops when they talk about the faithful gathering to hear the "softly spoken magic spell" - that's the funeral.

Hi Guys, I'm 72 years old and here in the U.K. i saw the original Floyd 3 Times Live, The Reformed Pink Floyd once in a stadium and Gilmour & Waters in respective individual live events. If you want to experience a similar show now, The Australian Pink Floyd Show should be doing the American tour this coming summer Covid permitting. This is a multi Million $$$ backed Tribute band, the best in existence and prides itself on being note for note perfect with the original Group. They even played for David Gilmour's 50th Birthday Party. See Also, Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets for Early Floyd stuff. They will be around your area the same time! Happy new year to you both, I love your Reaction Vids.
