Thanks for taking the time make such a detailed and easy-to-follow video. There are so many screws and connectors, it would have been impossible to replace my fan without this video. Much appreciated!
hey, great thanks for your video, it was very helpful. My VPCSA was getting really hot even when idle to the point that my HDD was malfunctioning. A couple of suggestions to your video. My fan was working, it was just very dusty. I didn't need to remove the motherboard. Once I took the keyboard and the fan was exposed, I used an air compressor to blow from the back of the laptop and into the fan. I guess is that most of the people will only have to do this, instead of having to replace the fan, as you explain in your video. A second thing, on 5:14 you explain how to lift the keyboard carefully. A better idea is to take the hdd/ssd out and under a back plastic film, you will see the two buses connectors onto the keyboard. Unlatch them and lifting up the keyboard will be very easy. No more loud noise and no more heat for me either, thanks a lot!
I have an easier way to pull the keyboard. After pulling the HDD, lift the black plastic cover from underneath and there are those ribbon cables. Easy access!! After taking my laptops apart the same way as this video so many times I just discovered it myself just last night.
Thanks, Alcides, this helped me a lot to clean up the fan and exhaust blades! I wanted to change the thermal compound, too, but it feels too tight - almost as if the heat pipes are glued to the chips. Have you tried that? I expected that after removing the heat pipe screws the entire set (heat pipes plus fan) would easily come off, but that didn't happen...
Flat flex cables need to be removed at first. you can do that by removing hard drive and underneath you can take apart flex cable from daughter board. this process is hard and could lead to damage of flat flex cable.
Thanks for the video! So, the cmos battery on this laptop is on the other side of MBX? To disconnect it (to fix turning on issue) I'll have to do all these steps?
Hi! I have the exact same model and my fan is very loud as well, but it doesn't make that weird noise yours does. Anyway, I'm not sure whether it needs to be replaced or just cleaned? I'm wondering why this particular model seem to have this problem. Is the fan just faulty to begin with? Thanks in advance for your help! Great video!
Mr Alcides I have a sony vpcsa dead " no lights" Only 2,5 years of life :( The Charger has green light but on laptop no lights. I try different test but no lights on and it does not start. Please 2 questions: The laptop should start even without battery? No lights (led) mean that the motherboard is burnt? I am a bit 'desperate :) I thank you for the help
the second part of the video is missing!!!! (actually, the most important one) I don’t see you putting the whole thing together, in this case I don’t have to believe hat you have fixed it. Did you actually? Because I would love to see and hear that it works and it was worth doing all the process. I can give the Vaio to my 6-year-old kid to take it a part, that doesn’t mean he can fix it.
@Alcides Scritor Lol, it's not about believing but about that you made a video claiming you explain HOW you FIX it, but this video provides nothing of what you promised, it's just a waste of time. And you don't even reply to people's questions, so it seems like you don't know what you're actually doing. Removing screws and removing parts anyone can do.
thank you very much and i have same problem i will try it but i need same fan can you tell me were or wech one on amazon or any where because its not here in kuwait
Hey ! Hi ! Thanks a lot for the video. It was really very helpful. When I dissembled and assembled first time, power button worked but sound system and keypad was not working. So I removed to fix the loose connections. Second time when I assembled the parts, the power button is not working. I have been struggling with the power button connections. Kindly share a video or please tell me how exactly the power button must be fixed. I am sure it is loose connection but I don't know how to connect. PLS HELP! Means a lot. Thanks in advance! :)
So only one fan in the VPCSA? I can hear a fan running in mine, but one side of the laptop (the right side, as I type on it) now gets MUCH hotter than the left side. I assumed I had two fans in there, and that one failed, but I guess not? Why would one side of my laptop start being so much hotter than the other all of the sudden?
hey man, i did exactly as you said, but when i assembled my laptop, it wouldn't turn on! now i have opend it up again and put all back together, but it still won't turn on! can you help me out? thanks in advance!
Thank you for watching the video, it happens to me too. You have to check the flat connection cables if they are well fit into the connectors slots. Make sure that they are well fit and it should turn on.
+Alcides Scritor Hey I've had same problem here and after rechecking all flats could solve it by doing some sort of a clear cmos on the laptop. What you must do is this: "Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop. This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset. Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord and turn your laptop on." and Voilá vaio is back in business hope it helps someone

One would most probably brake the cable doing this, your way is the proper way to do it
Thanks, Alcides, this helped me a lot to clean up the fan and exhaust blades!
