In most media slimes are generally immune to slicing attacks like from a sword cause they eitherreform around the blade or split into more slimes. Blunt hits are far more effective.

Honestly, I'd like to point out that every slime I ever encountered was on the surface. Specifically, swamps have a higher spawn rate, but even just wide open spaces like the flat world will spawn them. You also don't need darkness to spawn slimes as they can spawn during any time of day even during the day. I believe the main reason you rarely ever see slimes in the mines is because of the same reason you see slimes commonly on flat worlds... it requires open space, a lot of it. This is also why slimes *can* spawn in the mines, but only if you make enough of an open area, so really only artificially in the mines.

Honestly, I'd like to point out that every slime I ever encountered was on the surface. Specifically, swamps have a higher spawn rate, but even just wide open spaces like the flat world will spawn them. You also don't need darkness to spawn slimes as they can spawn during any time of day even during the day. I believe the main reason you rarely ever see slimes in the mines is because of the same reason you see slimes commonly on flat worlds... it requires open space, a lot of it. This is also why slimes *can* spawn in the mines, but only if you make enough of an open area, so really only artificially in the mines.
