I was 16 in 82. Never saw E.T. In Charleston where I saw this movie was listed as The Road Warrior. I had seen Mad Max on vhs and had to see part 2. My oldest brother went with me and told me if this movie is bad he would go back and wait in the car. Well he enjoyed it so much he got me the soundtrack for Xmas. Fantastic soundtrack in this film too. The ending shot is one of the greatest in cinema history.
The Road Warrior - one of the best dystopian movies ever, and by a far the best Mad Max, unsurpassed forever! Every second of that movie is a story, every shot is a masterpiece! Way to go JoBlo 😁🤩🥰
mad max 2 got everything right. it was the perfect western. the damaged gunfighter. the homesteaders and the marauding gang. a great tale on it’s own with some of the best action. not to mention the best costume ever for a hero.
Hopefully George Miller can strike a deal with Netflix or Amazon to continue his Mad Max universe because it’s a genuinely unique world and the way of releasing films into theaters seems to be slowly dying sadly.
I saw The Road Warrior as a double feature with Purple Rain in San Francisco in the early 80's. The Road Warrior will always be my favourite post-apocalyptic film. I've seen it so many times that I know all of the dialogue. I incorporate post-apocalyptic elements into my personal style, so it really influenced me fashion wise.
Road Warrior is my favorite. When it came out on cable, I use to watch it over and over on whatever channel it was on. Such good memories. Still watch it a couple times a year.
i had this on vhs as a kid. i can't believe i didn't wear it out because i watched it so much. very big part of my childhood. absolutely loved everything about it.
Mad Max 2!!! Amazing movie, not a frame is wasted. back in the 80s all of my play time with the GiJoes included a Mad Max 2 car chase battle. Good times.I was able to visit Broken Hill and Silverton where this was filmed, truly wild places. in the 90s i lived about 2 streets away from where Johnny the first film got immolated with his hacksaw... it was a blast!
The Road Warrior is the best movie George Miller has made. It’s Road Warrior and everything else. Fury Road was good but missed something I can’t put my finger on. Either way, the Road Warrior and everything else after.
A top10 action movie of all time! And the best out of the Mad Max franchise… The 1st one is a classic and basically Max’s origin story, but the sequel took it to new heights. Funny because just like with Alien/Aliens.. the 1st film is slower paced and relying more on that thriller aspect, then the 2nd one is pretty much an action movie more than anything else (obviously Alien and Aliens had different directors, unlike Mad Max).
I've never thought of the Alien/Aliens comparison of the first two Mad Max movies, it's very accurate. I guess that makes Thunderdome the one with Winona Ryder.
i have been trying to talk my partner into watching this for almost 20 years now. she got about 10 minutes in and said it was ridiculous LOLs her loss.
Na zdrowie to you, Lance Vlcek, for the "Lost" quote & for your fellow Chicagoan, and my (our) 2nd father: John Hughes! ...and yes, The Road Warrior is indeed the best & better Mad Max, without question!
Fury Road and Furiosa might be two of the best action movies of the last 10 years, but The Road Warrior is one of the great works of art of the first industrial age.
In my world there are only three Mad Max movies. But only one is required viewing if I see it on cable (which has been far too long), and that is The Road Warrior.
Road warrior is by far the best in the series with fury road a close second, and debatable depending on personal taste. Everything else isn’t even close.
I seen Mad Max 2 first when it was first released in a cinema in Australia. Because of it's popularity Max Max was re-released at our drive-ins soon after. I got to see that as well even though it was still R-Rated. It all happened in the first half of 1982 when I was 14. I'm still conflicted on which one is best for me. I can understand why most see Mad Max 2 (or 'The Road Warrior') as the best. To me it's always been an unwelcomed conundrum. Like the chicken and the egg...
For me, Road Warrior was the series peak. Everything that came after was trying to capture the spark of that movie but each failed in one way or another. Look at the first Mad Max, and then look at Furiosa. Almost feels like two different IP.
that's because he is they just pretend he's an entirely new character for some reason that I still don't understand, they act is if all the mad max movies aren't connected I guess so they don't have to worry about continuity.
I think is more about recasting the same characters in different versions of the same role. For instance the first mad max was toe cutter who went on to be immortam joe (not the character but the actor). To me it's like saying to the actor " hey, l love what you did last time, can you do it again".
I like to think they were brothers and former RAAF pilots who took different paths after society collapsed. A key difference is the Pilot Father in Thunderdome had better teeth than the G.C. Not too many dentists in the wasteland.
I have to agree that Mad Max 2 :The Road Warrior was the best of them. Too bad Furiosa bombed at the box office. What George Miller made a mistake with is thinking a girl boss type of character in a Mad Max saga without Mad Max would succeed. I think audiences are tired of girl bosses (although from what I understand, Furiosa is not woke!).
Also my favourite MAD MAX film. The original is second place. THUNDERDOME was a skidmark on the brand, and the two newest films are trash. The best film in the series (MM2) also has the best villains. The Lord Humungus and Wez, were unforgettable. And what a brilliant send-off - the best head-on collision in the series - two for the price of one! An action masterpiece.
The best Mad Max film is the first one. It's the only one with anything resembling a coherent story or character development. The second one is barely a movie from any kind of narrative viewpoint, more a loosely sketched coat-hanger for elaborate (and mostly pointless) stunt sequences. Everything after that is a rip-off of Part 2.
This is his crown jewel. The Road Warrior is basically perfect.
the definitive Mad Max movie. Mad Max 2 is just phenomenal.
I love this movie and Escape from New York! Snake Plissken and Mad Max 4ever! ❤

@@Gent82 thank you! I know! 🤘🏻😎
Road Warrior is the best of the series. it is a great movie. the final chase scene and the ending where the adult Farrell kid talks can not be beat.
Totally agree.

82 and you had access to vhs.. . I mean, it's believable
.but either you were a rich kid or had rich friends
Road Warrior had a soundtrack album? Odd, I can only think of a handful of brief orchestral pieces, I have to look that up and see what was on it.
I had to go see ET as well ..I wanted to see the mad max film!!! I was 6...
The Road Warrior - one of the best dystopian movies ever, and by a far the best Mad Max, unsurpassed forever! Every second of that movie is a story, every shot is a masterpiece! Way to go JoBlo 😁🤩🥰
I sneakily watchwatch ed this as a 7 year-old and have loved it ever since...IT IS the best one.
Yep. No question for me also.
mad max 2 got everything right.
it was the perfect western.
the damaged gunfighter. the homesteaders and the marauding gang. a great tale on it’s own with some of the best action.

i forgot no one was wearing a hat.
my mistake.
Hopefully George Miller can strike a deal with Netflix or Amazon to continue his Mad Max universe because it’s a genuinely unique world and the way of releasing films into theaters seems to be slowly dying sadly.
Oh yea!!! A 6 episode series would be amazing!
The mad max video game was awesome. I hope we get another one that has more time put into it and they can really flesh it out more
Yes! And the visuals still hold up too and the car combat was so good!

Humungus speech is so fkn iconic
The best mad max movie
I've watched every Mad Max except the new one, but hell yeah, Road Warrior is my favorite.
Road warrior totally has horror elements. That shit with Humongous yelling in the dark during that montage, just wow
Greetings from The Humungus! The Lord Humungus! The Warrior of the Wasteland! The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla!
Chris Jericho?
The Deacon in Waterworld used that too
My favorite movie 😊
And the road warrior?
Well thats the last we saw of him
He lives now only in my memories
This is THE Mad Max movie....but Fury Road is a fucking carnage from beginning to end, nothing short of a stellar 10/10
Hell yes this flick is awesome.
Mad Max 2!!! Amazing movie, not a frame is wasted. back in the 80s all of my play time with the GiJoes included a Mad Max 2 car chase battle. I used to watch the Road Warrior almost daily. I love how outrageously insane these movies are and it all started here.
JoBlo? Take me on your licorice ride! 😅😊 Saw this at the movie theater when it first came out.
One of my all time favorite movies. Scared me as a kid but i loved it as well.
Road warrior is my favorite
The Road Warrior is the best movie George Miller has made. It’s Road Warrior and everything else. Fury Road was good but missed something I can’t put my finger on. Either way, the Road Warrior and everything else after.
Mel Gibson?
Road warrior is amazing! We need Mel back as old man Max!
Props for the out of the blue LOST quote. 👍
🤘
The Road Warrior is awesome. I have it on VHS and DVD.
Yep. I agree: THE ROAD WARRIOR is best.
I love the mythos that Max is cursed to wander the wasteland helping others get out but he can never himself get out.
The Mad Max Franchise Rulez✊🏻!
A top10 action movie of all time! And the best out of the Mad Max franchise…

good job lance
I appreciate it
My favourite movie of all time
The Rosd Warrior is for badass macho guys. It rocks. I've never known a woman to even comment that she's seen it.
i have been trying to talk my partner into watching this for almost 20 years now. she got about 10 minutes in and said it was ridiculous LOLs her loss.
I always thought Road Warrior was the sweet spot
It's a shame Furiosa flopped at the box office. I thought it was fantastic.
Na zdrowie to you, Lance Vlcek, for the "Lost" quote & for your fellow Chicagoan, and my (our) 2nd father: John Hughes! ...and yes, The Road Warrior is indeed the best & better Mad Max, without question!
Best thing a guy can hear. Thanks, dude
Yea, I'm with ya. If I ever had to show someone just one Mad Max film, it would be The Road Warrior without question.
Fury Road and Furiosa might be two of the best action movies of the last 10 years, but The Road Warrior is one of the great works of art of the first industrial age.
Not even close. Not just the best of the series but the greatest action film ever made.
In my world there are only three Mad Max movies. But only one is required viewing if I see it on cable (which has been far too long), and that is The Road Warrior.
Road warrior is by far the best in the series with fury road a close second, and debatable depending on personal taste. Everything else isn’t even close.
Yes Mad Max 2 still best !!!❤💯
So basically, The Road Warrior is to the Mad Max series as Saints Row 2 was to that series.
I seen Mad Max 2 first when it was first released in a cinema in Australia. Because of it's popularity Max Max was re-released at our drive-ins soon after. Mel gibson is the best mad max one and only
Why is it so meant franchises the 2nd is best one no film after can top em
Yup, MM2 masterpiece, this what it kinda be like, hope never comes to pass
Finally bought a V8 Intercepter Tshirt to go with my first edition dvd release n my old ass haha😂
For me, Road Warrior was the series peak. Everything that came after was trying to capture the spark of that movie but each failed in one way or another. Look at the first Mad Max, and then look at Furiosa. Almost feels like two different IP.
There is more than one Mad Max video game.
Mad mad 2'is the best of not one of the greatest action movies
The game is outstanding, c'mon George!🤨
💯👍
Mad Max: Road Warrior. Is the best plus Mel Gibson is Mad Max 🎬🎥
Open space.
The Gyro Captain was my favorite character of Mad Max 2. I still think he's the same character in Thunderdome.
It is as well as the train conductor in the matrix.
that's because he is they just pretend he's an entirely new character for some reason that I still don't understand, they act is if all the mad max movies aren't connected I guess so they don't have to worry about continuity.

Road Warrior --> Mad Max --> Fury Road --> Thunderdome
In the Road Warrior the characters are the stars but in Fury Road the chase & vehicles are stars not Max.
Pappagallo
I have to agree that Mad Max 2 :The Road Warrior was the best of them. Too bad Furiosa bombed at the box office. 1.Mad Max 2
2.Road Fury
3.Thunderdome
4.Mad Max 1
5.Furosia

Obviously
No the original 1979 Mad Max is still the best matey. And way more Aussie

I dunno, Fury road is pretty much the greatest movie of all time. Forever
Not as good as the new one, this shit was depressing and bleak the revenge didn’t even feel satisfying at the end
