Totally agree, this has become one of my favorite films all time, up there with both Blade Runner film, Empire Strikes Back, and Lawrence of Arabia.
I'd love to see a crossover pair of Mad Max films (like Planet Terror/Death Proof) where Miller and Nolan each direct one, and each would focus on the same world/humanity through different lenses (like Flags of our Father's/ Sands of Iwo Jima). Miller would have the "wastelands," with Nolan at the helm of a "last bastion" city similar to Metropolis, and where both sides are neither "good" or "evil".... but only act on pure tribalism and "fight or flight" mentality.... where "flight" is almost entirely absent.
As I was watching this, I suddenly realized that Immortan Joe (with the production drawings in mind) should have been the Star Wars sequel trilogy's main villain where the remaining survivors of the Empire, Sith, Hutts, Pike Syndicate, Rogues, exiled Jedi, and galactic profiteers all vie for power on a planet like Jakku... but unite in an attempt to overthrow the New Republic. It would have some elements/themes from movies like Snowpiercer as well.
... shit, I think we've got something there.

The original is no doubt a masterpiece in its own right, but the sequel attempted to do things way beyond the original. Granted, it wasn’t perfect. Great stunts! No story!!! Too tame! Confused? No bones crushed... heads crushed... no dog food eating... no bloated corpses falling out of a semi.. no traumatic amputation of fingers... no shotgun blasts to windshields.. no bodies getting tossed underneath vehicles...
Basically, nothing which would really lead us to believe life after a nuclear war would be truly hellish. God I miss MM2!!!
