'Your model railway village' coaches- the ones at the start of the video. Are very high quality. If you turn the bogies on them the nem couplings move outwords a little. The layout fetured for that magazine collection series was a 1960's themed layout. :)
Hi David, yes that's what they are - and they really are brilliant quality! I have had issues with them de-railing thanks to their couplings though... but I think I may have fixed the issue! All the best, Sam :)
Don't be sorry! Enjoy yourself by living a little. I enjoy train fairs here in the states and like the bargains I get. Also they give me a chance to meet other train folks. Keep up the great videos!
Pugh & co wagon dates from 1979. They were given free of charge when you bought a loco. Reason being they were the first Hornby ones to have a painted finish. The test must have been succesful because the whole range went painted the next year. Previously they were self coloured plastic. I love them, got about 5 . They are pretty common
The Lima loco is a class 47. All of my Arnold Sands wagons have Leighton Buzzard on them. Your Burlington Northern box car is made by Cox (if it has brass axles). The box car missing a couler is an Athearn ( under floor weight ). I think the CN box car is a Bachmann. All in all I think you got some great bargains there Sam. A very timely video as I will be attending a train fare shortly with purchasing on my mind so this helps me with prices. Cheers, David.
Thanks David - I can't believe I forgot the class 47! Hmm... I could be wrong about mine not having Buzzard on them then - I'll have to check that! Glad you liked the bargains and the video mate - and good luck with you train fair! All the best, Sam :)
The brown boxcar with CN on it stands for Canadian National. Canadian National is what goes by my house, I'm not sure which railway owns the track by my house because we every once in awhile will see engines from other railways.
I have one of those norstand Grimsby wagons. It came with a triang-hornby set I split with a friend. And I ended up taking that wagon, a TTA wagon and a mineral line wagon as well as the break van and a class 47
Nice haul there Sam MLSR is the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. It was what the old Great Central was called before they built their London extension into Marylebone and rebranded themselves. have a good week Jon
I need to go to more train shows, haven't gone in years, wondering if I came get discounts for those expensive American models.... Speaking of American models, I recommend you get an UP FEF-3 or an N&W J class, you can get the J from Bachmann. Also, I'm not sure but I think that 0-6-0T is a Stirling J53-57.
Hi mate - yeah go for it, there's always some bargain to be had! Thanks for those tips - I'll definitely look into that! Thanks for the info on the J53 - I'll check that out! Cheers, Sam :)
2:38 Well all I can possibly say is the coaches came from a model railway mag...Not 100% sure of the company who made them...(The mag is "Your model Railway Village" Which is a cheapo kind of series as the items aren't very well made and it costs a lot! )
Yes that's definitely true - I came to that conclusion too - the coaches are very good though, I must admit - though they do struggle with occasional de-railments thanks to the couplings! All the best, Sam :)
The North American rolling stock + the EWS (the UK division of Wisconsin Central to an extent) trucks would be a neat review, especially if the lead engine is either Southern Pacific 4449 (or your custom Union Pacific Transfer engine) and the transfer boxcar to serve as a use to have both types of rolling stock in one long train.
great vid sam what a great haul ! i would love to go to a model railway fair but i live and always have lived in north west London don't know of any train fairs in my part of London
Very nice, I just got a longmoor J94, truck and brake van all for £60. Not bad considering it is a superb runner and individually they would be 75! Sorry for being absent from your comments for so long, hope to see these running soon! Alex
Like Christmas morning opening up all the bags, have never been to a train fair in my life, might have to take a trip to the UK, you got some good bargains Sam. Regards John from Oz.
Looks like you got some nice train stuff. Looking forward to you showing the Class 86, British Electrics don't seem to get a lot of attention, It was nice to see a Class 73 during Diesel month.
Great video Sam, You got some great stuff there, the loco with the number 1761 is a Class 47. The wagon that says Leighton buzzard on it I live around 20 mins from there.
Thanks very much James - yes it's a 47 - I can't believe I didn't recognise it, lol! Ooh very cool - nice that they made something local to you then! :3 Thanks for watching, Sam :)
The key is to set the knuckle couplers to the correct height, as some locos and rolling stock from the different manufacturers don't necessarily set them to the same height. Kadee sells a tool/saddle which is very useful to set the knuckle couplers height. Pretty cheap tool too.
Hi Ian, yes I've had them testing on the layout, and they seem to be working just fine! Thanks for the info too Ron, I'll bare that in mind! Cheers, Sam :)
Whilst that is true I have also found that the more modern couplings do not fit well with older stuff, that is they do not connect very well, but once connected they stay connected.
That Lima is surely a 47! I just got a Hornby Class 47 (in BR blue named Lady Diana Spencer) which is lovely despite the horrific tilt it seems to have! But it was only £30 and is otherwise in lovely nick. May have bought significant amounts of tankers at the same show...
Yes it is - I can't believe I didn't recognise it in the green! (I have the Virgin one!!!) haha that sounds good... can't have too many tankers either ;) Thanks for watching, Sam :)
those usa wagons i would think the old sticker was a price tag but when they didn't sell for that much they were re-moved and placed into box marked 3 for 10 pounds, the 7up one i think is missing the roof? might be for the crates or ingreadants but if it was for the drinks then it'd have a roof, don't want bugs or water getting your product wet
Ahh yes that's probably about right - he said they never sell very well, so maybe that's why they were reduced! Yeah that's true... though Hornby don't normally think things through like that - I think it was too short to be a box van :/ Thanks for watching, Sam :)
12:24 that looks like a manning wardle 0-6-0ST! I like those American boxcars and the 7-up wagon the best! I can't wait til you review that electric loco!
Look forward to seeing the LMS 4 wheels in a rake! An LMS brake van behind them and a smaller loco (perhaps a compound) would look great! Will you be reviewing the GNR loco?
Speaking of American stuff, if your a fan of streamliners, I highly recommend a New York Central Dreyfuss Hudson if you can find one for a reasonable price across the pond.
@ 2:58 of this video: Yes, those coaches you are unsure of the manufacture of them, I can conform that they are from Issue 1 of the 'Your Model Railway Village' magazine series. I am sure you have four them already. I am sure that I spotted four of them in another old video of your's, that I watched about 2 weeks ago.
I think these in this video were those you saw in a previous video.... They appear sharp, but as I recall Sam was having I believe weight problems with his points with those coaches.... Maybe better Hornby wheels and a bit of weight underneath will do some wonders for smoother operations...
How can they be the same coaches, when in this video, we see Sam unpacket them? The video I was talking about was uploaded about a year ago. Maybe more. 100% these are not the same coaches.
Hi Jacob - yes those were the same coaches! I've had this video saved for a little while, because it didn't suit Diesel month very well! Yes those coaches have coupling issues, which also causes de-railments, they're okay once they get going though... odd! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Ah, got you now. They do have coupiling issues. I have two of them. When issue 1 was in the shops, I was greedy and bought two copies, to get 2 coaches!
I've taken in your previous advice to start a railway and me and my dad loved the j50. We are also considering going to a model shop is there any advantages over eBay.
There are some advantages with Ebay, but not that many. You can sometimes (rarely) Get something for a really good price. Though im a 13 year old and mostly just look around on ebay.
Hi mate, yeah Oskar is right - Ebay is great if you want a bargain - but if you're new to the hobby, I'd stick with ordering new stuff rather than second hand, incase anything needs servicing! Take a look on the Rails of Sheffield website - their prices are often the best! Cheers mate, Sam :)
are you going to show you train collection like u did last year? what show did you get your stuff from? great video as always looking forward to the reviews😁
Woah!! Love these types of videos! Lots of great coaches, locos, and wagons! Lots of great deals as well! I might save up and go to a local train fair here in Texas! Been once but didn't get anything. :) In December or January once it comes out can you review the Hornby GWR 14xx? I'm gonna get it! Cheers, Tyson'sTrains :D
That's good to hear mate - glad you like these!! I'd definitely recommend it if you can find one - you can normally get some great deals! I might do that - though I reckon it might be the same as their old one ;) Cheers mate, Sam :)
Thanks for the reply. You certainly have sufficient space for it. Maybe start with something small like an end-to-end branch line terminus. Then you can build other boards to expand on it.
Yea, I know that feeling, it usually hits me within the first hour after the deal. My recent "catch" is a collection of (unbuilt) wagon kits; mostly old Peco wonderful kits (?with working axle springs?), and some Airfix sets. I also got a strange little... something from Broadway Limited : a Tack mobile: www.broadway-limited.com/trackmobileho.aspx
You do not have to have a complete LMS Rake of coaches, as quite often on lets say an LMS Train their would be the Odd SR or LNER Coach on the train same with Wagons you may find the odd SR Wagon/Van on an LMS Train
Great stuff Sam, you already know I try to visit certain train fairs. They have the "human touch" that the internet lacks, of course. Cleaning the stock and minor repairs are all part of the fun. : ) Cheers, Cliff.
Thanks Cliff, yes I remember you saying that - and you're right, it so much nicer than buying online! I really enjoy the repairing process too... so long as it's not too lengthly ;D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Sam! I'm hoping to get a model railway but not sure which company to get I want something that doesn't make a lot of noise but just a little and the track is easy to put together but it doesn't rust got any suggestions it would a lot if you know which one is right for me
Blimey that really is a big haul there, the Lima diesel was a class 47 and the Hornby 0-6-0 was a j52. Maybe you should get a big rake of those EWS wagons and run them behind your class 66. Keep the faith - callum
Thanks for the info on those Callum - I can't believe I forgot what a class 47 looked like, being that I own the Virgin one! Yeah a big rake of those EWS wagons would be brilliant actually! Thanks for the comment, Sam :)
Hey seems like you had a good day at the train fair and you didnt even buy one ocean wagon!Thats not like you haha. But im intrested in the black Patriot 4.6.0? and is it tender driven?
Thanks Jack... I know - I think I cleared them out of Ocean wagons last time ;) No it's loco driven - but I think the last owner must have put that body on!! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
WOW those are some nice goodies you found I always like going to a train fair my self you just never know what your going to find there I always like the mystery of not knowing what I'm going to find at a train fare!!!!
Good haul. Nice amount locos and rolling stock there. Few hundred quid spent, but for the prices of the items indivually, it was all cheap and was worth every penny. Well done Sam!
Thank you! Really glad you liked them! NEM couplings are a coupling standard; all compatible with each other. There are all kinds of couplings that can plug into the standard NEM pocket :) Cheers, Sam :)
Hi mate! That's true - they really aren't that much different, but you get slightly more friction/drag with plastic wheels, which means (in theory) your locos will be able to pull fewer wagons with plastic wheels than with metal! All the best, Sam :)
Hi mate, that's very possible - good guess! Someone else said that it was the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, so I'm not too sure! :3 Cheers, Sam :)
Hi Sam. As a fan of american railroading, I can identify that some of those boxcars are of the modern era. Not that it matters if you're only after having fun, just thought I'd mention it. One very important piece of rollingstock on every american train pulled by steam is the caboose, you gotta find yourself one of those mate. ;)
Thanks Jonathan - that's okay mate, I'm just glad to have found some American stock! I do have a Bachmann caboose actually - it's a very nice looking thing! :3 All the best, Sam :)
Hello Sam, long time no see, had a wonderful summer with your Diesel month? I must say you got some wonderful model locomotives and rolling stock at the Train Fair. 2:04, MSLR stands for Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. 12:26 that's not a J94, that is a Great Northern Railway J13/LNER J52 Class Tank Engine, if you want to know about them, here is a link to Wikipedia. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNR_Class_J13 Cannot wait to see the reviews on the 3 model steam locomotives you got soon. Wonderful video! 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 10/10
Hi Jordan, nice to have you back - yes it was a fun summer thanks! Glad you liked the haul - and thanks for the info on the MSLR and the J13! Thanks again for your comment mate, Sam :)
Great video Sam.....you're worse than me for bargains! Do you take a gamble that the Locos run alright or do the vendors show you them running? Thanks Sam
Thanks Stephen - haha yeah I really can't resist! No I normally take the gamble - I repair locos as part of my business, so I'm not too bothered whether they run or not! I came back from a fair a few weeks ago with a coronation, which I found was in a horrific state - but it's all sorted now! :3 Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Love these videos! Possibly my favourites, looks like you had fun at the train fair! I did something similar last Saturday at the GWR Old Oak Common Open Day lol so don't feel guilty!! I can confirm the Bachmann Midland Compounds are indeed excellent - Ive got the NRM Special Edition in Midland Railway livery - I got the second to last one they had in stock - and the detail on it is phenomenal!! Unfortunately on mine at least the performance is average at best but the detail makes up for it! Brilliant Video, enjoyed it a lot! Lukas
Aren't those non-descript wagons just the ones from the Your Model Railway Village magazine? Sure you have 100 comments saying that though :P [I can't remember the last one of these videos so can't rememeber if you said it then e.e]
Did you have fun at the train fair It's not naughty to spend like that it's good because you get more locomotives and rolling stock Can't wait to see some reviews on the locomotives I had to modify both of my model railway village coaches
Hi Harry, I'd love to do that - but I don't think I'd be brave enough to take a camera in there - people might think me a bit weird ;D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
Those Bachmann Midland Compounds are fantasic and you won't regret it
Thanks mate! I've had it out to service it - it really is fantastic, you're right! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Don't be sorry! Enjoy yourself by living a little. I enjoy train fairs here in the states and like the bargains I get. Also they give me a chance to meet other train folks. Keep up the great videos!
haha thanks mate - I certainly do enjoy these!
All the best mate,
Sam :)
I would say those Maroon MK1 coaches are the ones from my model railway village.
Yes they are! That was the name I was trying to think of!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Last October I bought a weathered black 5 and a standard 4 for £95
Blimey! That's awesome - what a bargain! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Just before watching this my class 70 arrived in the post!
Ooh awesome!! How is it??? :3
lol XD
jtmessi gaming what did you do run the class 70 or watch this video
It's really good and I ran it in while I watched the vid 👌
god
Pugh & co wagon dates from 1979. They were given free of charge when you bought a loco. Reason being they were the first Hornby ones to have a painted finish. The test must have been succesful because the whole range went painted the next year. Previously they were self coloured plastic. I love them, got about 5 . They are pretty common
Hi Russell, wow thanks very much for letting me know that - I wish they gave them away these days! ;)
Thanks for the comment mate,
Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
The brown boxcar with CN on it stands for Canadian National. Canadian National is what goes by my house, I'm not sure which railway owns the track by my house because we every once in awhile will see engines from other railways.
Ooh very nice! Thanks a lot for the info on that Jake!
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
I have one of those norstand Grimsby wagons. It came with a triang-hornby set I split with a friend. And I ended up taking that wagon, a TTA wagon and a mineral line wagon as well as the break van and a class 47
Ahh fantastic - I did wonder where those came from!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
In Bag 3, those three Hornby ESW Mineral Wagon's, are from Hornby's RailRoad range, hence the plastic wheels.
Ahh of course - yeah that does make sense :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
That's alright.
MSLR is the mid Suffolk light railway, think hornby did a train set a few years ago
Hi Oliver, thanks very much for letting me know mate!
Cheers,
Sam :)
8:38 Has to be a Class 47 as Lima never produced Class 56s or 57s
Yes it's a 47! I was daft not to have recognised it! D:
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Nice haul there Sam
MLSR is the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. It was what the old Great Central was called before they built their London extension into Marylebone and rebranded themselves.
have a good week
Jon
Thanks a lot Jon, and for letting me know about the MLSR!
You have a fab week too mate,
Sam :)
Cheers,
Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
MSLR stands for Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire railway I think.
Ahh okay! Thanks for that mate :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Thanks mate - I might consider reviewing those then!!
Thanks for the comment,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains You're welcome, Sam.
The white roof coach is from Mid-Suffolk Light Railway
Okay! Many thanks for that!
Cheers,
Sam :)
great vid sam what a great haul ! i would love to go to a model railway fair but i live and always have lived in north west London don't know of any train fairs in my part of London
Thanks so much! Do look it up - after covid, I'm sure there'll be some near you! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
the little green loco is a j52. great little runners they are.
Ahh okay thanks for that - yeah it really is a brilliant runner, I've serviced it up already! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Very nice, I just got a longmoor J94, truck and brake van all for £60. Not bad considering it is a superb runner and individually they would be 75!
Sorry for being absent from your comments for so long, hope to see these running soon!
Alex
Hi Alex, oooh very good - that really was a bargain!
That's okay mate - glad to have you back!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Like Christmas morning opening up all the bags, have never been to a train fair in my life, might have to take a trip to the UK, you got some good bargains Sam. Regards John from Oz.
Thanks John! Yes it was a bit like Christmas, hehe - I can definitely recommend them anyway mate!
All the best,
Sam :)
Looks like you got some nice train stuff. Looking forward to you showing the Class 86, British Electrics don't seem to get a lot of attention, It was nice to see a Class 73 during Diesel month.
Thanks a lot Brian - yeah I'm looking forward to running that one too... I just need to find an excuse to, hehe!
All the best,
Sam :)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
It means Mid Suffolk Light Railway, it looks to be from a train set called The Rover.
Ahh okay! Thanks very much for the info - I'll have to look that train set up! :3
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
No problem
A good selection. I hope the couplings are OK on the HO stuff, as I have said before, some can be more difficult than others.
Cheers,
Sam :)
Whilst that is true I have also found that the more modern couplings do not fit well with older stuff, that is they do not connect very well, but once connected they stay connected.
my personal favourite items were the 5 small coaches. the white roofed one could be a break coach
Or can be spray painted to match the rest of the similar coaches.... A little primer and gray paint can do wonders to the roof...
Thanks guys - yeah I loved those 5 coaches too - they really are splendid together!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
When i was watching this YOU HIT 11K SUBS Good job!
Oh awesome! Thanks so much mate! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
(I have the Virgin one!!!)
haha that sounds good... can't have too many tankers either ;)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Ravenstone Railways? Ravenstone is only a mile or so from me. That's good to know
Ooh nice - wonder if that's where it is then?!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
those usa wagons i would think the old sticker was a price tag but when they didn't sell for that much they were re-moved and placed into box marked 3 for 10 pounds,
the 7up one i think is missing the roof? might be for the crates or ingreadants but if it was for the drinks then it'd have a roof, don't want bugs or water getting your product wet
Ahh yes that's probably about right - he said they never sell very well, so maybe that's why they were reduced!
Yeah that's true... though Hornby don't normally think things through like that - I think it was too short to be a box van :/
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Those unlabelled coaches belong to the series of magazines titled somthing like builf your own model railway villiage
Yes that's right they are - well spotted mate! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hi I was just wondering what train fairs do you go to and when are they usually on thank you
12:24 that looks like a manning wardle 0-6-0ST!
I like those American boxcars and the 7-up wagon the best!
I can't wait til you review that electric loco!
Thanks a lot mate - yeah I'm very pleased with the Box cars, and that 7 up wagon is brilliant too!
Thanks again,
Sam :)
Hey Sam those midland copounds are beautiful and look in the cab when you get the chance.
Hey! Yeah I've looked at mine now - and you're right, the cab is brilliant! :D
CHeers,
Sam :)
Look forward to seeing the LMS 4 wheels in a rake! An LMS brake van behind them and a smaller loco (perhaps a compound) would look great! Will you be reviewing the GNR loco?
You know he will, Sam reviews or runs all of his trains, locos and rolling stock...
Yeah absolutely - I'll try to get those going soon! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
What's your favorite type of rolling stock? coaches, wagons, etc.
Hmmm... definitely some nice Southern Coaches are my favourite :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Very cool. I went to a a Train Show in Louisville, Kentucky back in January
Ooh fantastic - did you pick up anything nice?? :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
The great Northern loco is actually the first privately preserved steam locomotive
Ooh okay, that's very cool - thanks for letting me know that!
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
Speaking of American stuff, if your a fan of streamliners, I highly recommend a New York Central Dreyfuss Hudson if you can find one for a reasonable price across the pond.
Ooh absolutely - I would love one actually, thanks for the tip! :D
Thanks for watching,

what show did you get your stuff from?
great video as always looking forward to the reviews😁
Hi mate, yes I will be doing that soon! :D
Glad you liked it mate,
Sam :)
I used to have a 7UP truck once before, but it was a long time ago.
Oh nice! I think it's quite a lovely wagon to be honest!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam, 7UP will make a good chunk of a Tom Collins drink...
I have had that red coal wagon for ages, it is Pugh and Co pronounced pew.
haha, okay mate - thanks for letting me know! I found it quite entertaining to pronounce it p-ugh, lol ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
YEY, The Train Fair videos are the best ones :P
Thanks Oskar, really glad you like these mate :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Oskar0110 i know
Love the train fair videos Sam. That,s a lot of locos and rolling stock, It's nice to treat yourself once in a while.Cheers John.
Thanks a lot John, I really like doing these ones too! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Brilliant video Sam. You were the one that got me into liking model railways.
Thanks so much - that's great to hear! Glad you got into the hobby anyway! :D
Thanks for watching,

Cheers mate,
Sam :)
Are you going to do a layout on a board with scenery, fiddle yard, depot, carriage sidings, ect?
Hi mate, yes hopefully one day I will do something like that! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Thanks for the reply. You certainly have sufficient space for it. Maybe start with something small like an end-to-end branch line terminus. Then you can build other boards to expand on it.
I think MSLR stands for Mid Suffolk Light Railway
Ahh you could be right! :D
Might have to visit one of these shows! Would certainly be nice to see the railways but mainly for the model sales! Hah!
Cheers, Ed :D
Thanks Ed, yes absolutely - they're well worth visiting if there's one near you! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Yea, I know that feeling, it usually hits me within the first hour after the deal. My recent "catch" is a collection of (unbuilt) wagon kits; mostly old Peco wonderful kits (?with working axle springs?), and some Airfix sets. I also got a strange little... something from Broadway Limited : a Tack mobile: www.broadway-limited.com/trackmobileho.aspx
haha yeah... definitely a real buzz! Oh nice - that sounds fun mate, good luck building them! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Also, it looks like the boxcars might be old Bachmann ones or Athearn
Yes! I think that's right - someone else said the same thing!
Thanks again,
Sam :)
I know it's late for a comment but have you done a review on an American 4-8-2 mountain type locomotive and a 4-6-6-4 articulated locomotive
Hi mate, no I never have done those - but I may look into them one day!
All the best,
Sam :)
You do not have to have a complete LMS Rake of coaches, as quite often on lets say an LMS Train their would be the Odd SR or LNER Coach on the train same with Wagons you may find the odd SR Wagon/Van on an LMS Train
Very interesting Thomas, I'll have to do that some time! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
An excellent video sam. Have you done a review of a class 17 diesel?
Thanks Alex! No I've never done that one - is it worth getting?? :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
The American boxcars look like they might be AHM or Mehano models. A fine haul you have there I must say!
Thanks Nick - yes a few other commentors have said that too! Glad you liked this lot anyway,
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam those EWS wagons are lovely, you should start trying to find more to make a good size train
Thanks Christian - I know they really are, I'm going to keep an eye out for more! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Great haul once again! do the engines run well?
Thanks so much! Yes they do - I gave them all a service, but they were just about perfect! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
MSLR? Possibly stands for Mid Suffolk Light Railway
Thanks! Yep that sounds about right actually - thanks a lot for letting me know!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Great stuff Sam, you already know I try to visit certain train fairs. They have the "human touch" that the internet lacks, of course.
Cleaning the stock and minor repairs are all part of the fun. : )
Cheers, Cliff.
Thanks Cliff, yes I remember you saying that - and you're right, it so much nicer than buying online! I really enjoy the repairing process too... so long as it's not too lengthly ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Yes. I picked up some American locomotives. I and going to make some videos about them soon.
That's fab to hear - let me know when you've done them! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Could be Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway.
Ahh yeah that's a good point - I'll look it up actually! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Hi Sam! I'm hoping to get a model railway but not sure which company to get I want something that doesn't make a lot of noise but just a little and the track is easy to put together but it doesn't rust got any suggestions it would a lot if you know which one is right for me
Hi mate, any of the Hornby sets would be great for that - their track definitely won't rust!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains I would like a hornby set but the prices on amazon are really high is it because I'm in the is ;-;
Blimey that really is a big haul there, the Lima diesel was a class 47 and the Hornby 0-6-0 was a j52.
Thanks for the comment,
Sam :)
Hey seems like you had a good day at the train fair and you didnt even buy one ocean wagon!Thats not like you haha. But im intrested in the black Patriot 4.6.0? and is it tender driven?
Thanks Jack... I know - I think I cleared them out of Ocean wagons last time ;)
No it's loco driven - but I think the last owner must have put that body on!!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
WOW those are some nice goodies you found I always like going to a train fair my self you just never know what your going to find there I always like the mystery of not knowing what I'm going to find at a train fare!!!!
Thanks Jody, really glad you liked all the goodies!! :3
I love the mystery too - hehe! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Midland and Scottish railway just a gess and those coaches are the Your Model Railway Vilage coaches
Ahh okay mate - thanks a lot for the info on those!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Awesome, I do really like the intercity, I've got a class 91 from a train fare too, love ya
Thanks a lot mate - glad you like that, it's a very smart livery actually!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Good haul. Nice amount locos and rolling stock there. Few hundred quid spent, but for the prices of the items indivually, it was all cheap and was worth every penny. Well done Sam!
Thanks a lot Jacob - I think it was definitely well worth it!
CHeers again,
Sam :)
It was worth it.
Yes those coaches are your model railway
Thanks Ewan, I thought that was true!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Wow! That is a good haul of models! Lucky you! By the way, what are nem couplings?
Thank you! Really glad you liked them! NEM couplings are a coupling standard; all compatible with each other. There are all kinds of couplings that can plug into the standard NEM pocket :)
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains thanks Sam! Appreciate the help! Cheers,TWA.
I've never gone to a train fair... I have been to a model exhibition, but I only found one section that sold 00 guage wagons. Nothing else...
Hi Luke! Awhh that's a shame - maybe there's one reasonably near to you?? I'd look into it if you're interested!
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
bought a 2000s bachmann split chassis loco drive royal Scot rebuilt patriot at the weekend for 27 quid ... That's a steal 😂
Oh nice! Yeah that is a steal - enjoy it mate! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam could you so a
metal vs. plastic wheels video
since i feel there's nothing different about plastic wheels
Hi mate! That's true - they really aren't that much different, but you get slightly more friction/drag with plastic wheels, which means (in theory) your locos will be able to pull fewer wagons with plastic wheels than with metal!
All the best,
Sam :)
awesome loco trains & passenger freight train cars sam's trains ! :)
Thanks Brian - glad you liked them mate! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
8:52 class 47
12:27 GNR J52
Ahh yes - thanks for that Luke! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
HOLY HECK, Bro. That is one heck of a haul. I like those 'Murican box cars. Great stash!
PS: MSLR stands for My Stupid Labrador Retriever.
haha I know it!! Yeah I like those too :3
Oh of course.... I think I'll call them that though ;)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Can you do a review on the bacman 9F please or compare the hornby one to the bacman because I am looking at getting one not the evening star
That's a good idea - I've never owned a Bachmann one yet actually! :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains look forward to a video
Maby the Melr stands for midland east Liverpool railway? And that deals looks like a class 47
Hi mate, that's very possible - good guess! Someone else said that it was the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, so I'm not too sure! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
All the best,
Sam :)
Have you ever considered using your locos as your own original characters?
Hi Ben! Yeah kind of.... I'm getting close to that in this year's Christmas special, kind of.. :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Oh, you got the old arse, cheap plastic, probably tyco American Boxcars. If they have a cheap plastic looking coupler its probably one of those.
Yeah I think you're right! But I always tend to buy cheap rolling stock - that way I save my money for locomotives ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Nothing up with a nice splurge now and then 😉 Great purchases! 😁😁
haha thanks a lot mate - much appreciated!
Cheers,
Sam :)
How did you ballast your track in the scenic section of your layout?
I just scattered it on with a paper cone... a bit primitive really, lol! ;D
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
Hello Sam, long time no see, had a wonderful summer with your Diesel month?
I must say you got some wonderful model locomotives and rolling stock at the Train Fair.
2:04, MSLR stands for Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway.
12:26 that's not a J94, that is a Great Northern Railway J13/LNER J52 Class Tank Engine, if you want to know about them, here is a link to Wikipedia.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNR_Class_J13
Cannot wait to see the reviews on the 3 model steam locomotives you got soon.
Wonderful video!
5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
10/10
Hi Jordan, nice to have you back - yes it was a fun summer thanks!
Glad you liked the haul - and thanks for the info on the MSLR and the J13!
Thanks again for your comment mate,
Sam :)
you could do a metropolitan vickers type 2 (BoCo) unboxing
That sounds fascinating - I'd love to do that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
next time when you go there can you get some shots of the train fair
hehe I'd love to, but I don't dare - people might think I'm creepy - it's only a small place ;)
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains ok can you do a Europian train collection
The brown box car has the logo of the Canadian National Railway.
Ahh okay thanks for that - I still need to learn about this stuff! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
mid-Suffolk Light railway i believe
Ahh! That sounds about right - thanks for that mate!
Cheers,
Sam :)
ur welcome
i think that the mlsr coach stands for moors southen lanchishire railway
Thanks a lot for the info on that Becky - it's not one I'd really heard of!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Lukas
Thanks Lukas, that's great to hear - yeah it was great fun thanks! That's great to hear - I love that compound already!
All the best mate,
Sam :)
Aren't those non-descript wagons just the ones from the Your Model Railway Village magazine? Sure you have 100 comments saying that though :P [I can't remember the last one of these videos so can't rememeber if you said it then e.e]
Yes they are you're right - I'm fairly sure they are!
Thanks for the comment mate,
Sam :)
Did you have fun at the train fair
It's not naughty to spend like that it's good because you get more locomotives and rolling stock
Can't wait to see some reviews on the locomotives
I had to modify both of my model railway village coaches
Hi David, yeah I did thanks - it was awesome! :D
Thanks mate - I'm going to show them soon hopefully! :3
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam have you ever thought of doing a vlog to the fair that the go and to show the stall that the buy the stuff from 😛😛😄🤗
Hi Harry, I'd love to do that - but I don't think I'd be brave enough to take a camera in there - people might think me a bit weird ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
It ok it was just a suggestion and I love watching you videos and I hope you still do more in the future and do you have a twitter account 😀;d 😜😛
Sam's trains do a review on the princess luna locomotive.
Ooh I like that idea - good thought mate! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains your welcome
I like that GNR 0-6-0st. Can't wait to see that reviewd
Thanks mate - I love that too, just look at that livery!! :D
All the best,
Sam :)
