For my personal taste it’s between Darkfighter and Foo Fighter’s "But Here We Are". I was not expecting FF’s album to be good nonetheless amazing. With Rival Sons I never question the quality of their albums.
Just a great album. Beginning to end. Relatable and introspective. Just finished a late night walk under the stars listening to it, and I just connect to ever track. It’s a perfect album for me.
Love the album. Been spinning every day since it dropped. Been a fan since 2013, this is their best so far. This band keeps getting better, which is staggering!
Rival Sons are the real deal. Their here to kick our asses and leave us begging for more. I just started listening to their new album yesterday and I can't stop. If anybody has forgotten what real rock and roll music is and what it should sound like and what it should make you feel, just listen to the Rival Sons.
My first contact with this band was in Paris in 2011 , i dont really understand what is happening at this moment, a guy came to the scene and sang ....we are in 2023 , darkfighter is here right front of me , what a long journey with this band Rival Sons was .thanks for all ,continu to keep them alive 🤘🤘🤘🤘😉😉😉
This album, together with "Lightbringer", is the best thing I've heard for years. Might even be the best thing(s) I've heard since the beginning of the century (not even kidding). Hearing the stories behind the song, I understand the emotional depth of it all. I was fortunate enough to enjoy all of this live in Lyon (France) yesterday evening. So grateful for that !
Absolutely love this band for a few years, and absolutely love this album. First time I heard Guillotine I had replay it several times on repeat and loud! Completely blown away by the lyrics and all the moods within that song. I am soooo looking forward to seeing these guys live next month!!! Opening for Smashing who I also like but purchased the tickets to finally see Rival Sons live!
So wild... Love to know about my favorite artists... The really strange part is that I've always wanted to work at a funeral home myself. Not necessarily burying someone but just in the funeral home to be there for people that have lost their loved ones. I think it's an amazing thing that Jay worked at a mortuary/ funeral home. Then he decides... Let me bless the world with one of his many talents and gifts. What a true Blessing, indeed.
Got my tickets for the Dec.9 show in Halifax, and I am stoked!! Paul Rodgers is my favorite singer, and this has a Bad Company style vocal that kicks some serious ass!! ❤You guys!
The man has always struck me as supremely authentic. Perhaps the only "celebrity" that I wouldn't end up disappointed getting to know. I always find myself hanging on his every word-both musically expressed and spoken. Godspeed, Jay.
@@isaacburdiss That's great to hear. I'm envious! At 56 yo, I've seen some incredible bands live in concert in my time. Met just a very few. This is my only remaining "bucket-list" band, and have held that distinction for a few years.
Amazing album, very complex in sound & lyrics. Totally love that it’s different to their other albums and that’s a real style for a real artist. Another canvas painting, they never repeat the same. Not many bands do that, and that is why I’m totally into this band. Rival Sons🔥
Saw them 8-9-2023 in Irvine CA, opening act for Smashing Pumpkins, along with Stone Temple Pilots. Rival Sons are f-ing outstanding! Never heard of them until last night and they were dammmnnn good. I liked them much more than STP. I will be checking them out. Front man is no-joke, solid, pipes for days. He can belt out some great vocals. Drummer has ridiculous chops! I saw the drummer in the parking lot getting a ticket for going 200mph in a 70mph zone he driving so hard and fast. Guitars were outstanding, just a great band.
Since the album was released, I've listened to it about a million times. Now I'm going through a difficult period, and these songs have become an outlet for me. I hope to get to your concert again. Thank you for your creativity and thank you for BELIEVING IN ROCK-AND-ROLL!!!
A loyal Rival Sons fan for the past 12 years...Hands down the best rock n roll band. Darkfighter is a masterpiece...Mature meaningful lyrics...I relate big time.
Interesting to hear that so much emotion and personal experience made its way into this album. You can really tell listening to it that these songs weighed a lot. Best wishes to your friend Jay, I hope he can get the help he needs and rise above it all.
Thank you for honest stories. Im impressed how your songs got those stories. Keep on strumming, I do the same daily. We here norhern Finland are waiting to see Rival Sons in Sweden or Finland in the future. We couldnt get to those gigs in Tampere & Helsinki. Looking forward to see ”the band of real music”.
I first heard RS on 97.7 hitzFM in st. kitts Ont. thats going back a while, the 00's anyway. they always spinned them regularly, still do. anyway thats where I first heard them, and liked ever since. solid writing vocals and, just all around good music.
Album is absolutely phenomonal. The arrangement has leveled up. Its been on repeat. The vocals are soulful yet timed perfectly. One of the best rock albums ever made. Wish there were more tracks.
Really enjoyed this. Jay, you're such an unusually great singer, could you consider doing a video on; singing in general and your approach to singing in the studio, live, and the technique and rigors of such? Thank you.
Thanks Jay, this gave me alot to think about as I'm trying to start my own band. Especially with my struggle of wondering if what I put out is good enough. My goal is clear. I'm going to finish an album buy the end of the year.
Thx for explaining each track for all the new songs. I have been listening to you guys since your first album. Love your music some of the songs and lyrics is like old school 60's and it's very relatable to society and to my life. Keep up the good work. Blessings to you and the band. 😊☮💜💫✝️🙏🏾♋🦋😇👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾💯💯💯

Another great release. Can't wait for "LIghtbringer". I was going to list my five favorite songs but since there's eight, I figured why not do them all... 1. Nobody Wants to Die 2. Bright Light 3. Bird in the Hand 4. Horses Breath 5. Darkside 6. Guillotine 7. Rapture 8. Mirrors
Saw them last night it was a great show few tech problems with Scott guitar didn’t know the show would continue, like 20 minute delay very first song, but they fixed it actually Jay came out after 20 minutes with acoustic guitar and played shooting star and then few minutes later they restart Mirrors. Really good show go see them if you can or maybe you have recently.
@@tylerpatterson4787 I've actually seen them six times (2019 was the last, had tix for 2021 but it didn't happen). I saw Jay Buchanan solo in 2021. Always a killer show. But none of my buddies want to pay $50 for Smashing Pumpkins (I would but I can't blame them). We're betting on a headline tour soon. Glad you enjoyed it.
Yes they are always put on a great show. Last night was my 2nd time seeing the band, first time was 2021 pressure & Time 10th year anniversary tour play that album in it’s entirety
It's our opinions (my friends and I) think the album is the weakest album of them all...Hollow Bones wasn't great either..but this 8 song album is the worst..I love RS and have a ll their albums.Seen them live which is an amazing experience..sorry guys..you've lost your way...gimmi something like ELECTRIC pleeeeeeeze ❤
Not sure why you say that. It is their most musically complex album as far as chord progressions go. And many songs are heavy and electric so not sure what you're talking about.
Oh thank God somebody said what I was thinking🤦♂️ Perhaps Darkfighter will grow on me… but Feral Roots hit me in between the eyes the very first time I’d heard the band and has been on constant play ever since. If Darkfighter has done anything for me is to take me to back to FR and reinforce what a masterpiece it is. I just can’t hear the songs, the musicianship, the production… none of it here compared to FR.
@@davidharding200 Feral roots is the perfect album even for someone who does not know the band, each song is a potential single, all very different but none is too much. In darkfighter some songs are just without bite, I regret to say it but 4 years of waiting for 8 songs, I expected more. I also add that it seems to me mixed badly, some songs sound dirty, like mirrors
I do know what what you mean, but the more you listen, the more you appreciate how good the songs are, they are up against astounding albums they made themselves😊
@@chrisreznor9764I agree. The mix of this album isn’t great. Jays vocals are buried on Mirrors, but on Rapture they’re right up in the mix. I don’t like Scott’s tone either. Barely sounds like he’s playing a guitar anymore.
This album is a lean, mean, rocking machine! Phenomenal performances by everyone involved, as usual. Best rock band going right now 🤘
Best album this year 🤷♂️

Agreed. And I love the Foos record too.

Horses breath is my absolute favourite, the intro is sending me ❤
Just saw them in NYC....needless to say they were Godly, I will never miss another Rival Sons ny performance.
Just a great album. Beginning to end. Relatable and introspective. Just finished a late night walk under the stars listening to it, and I just connect to ever track. It’s a perfect album for me.
I'm in love with this album and love the breakdown. But the way this is shot looks like an episode of Between Two Ferns 😭
