This show was clearly trying to split the difference between goofy musical and gritty early-era-Law-and-Order noir and while it didn’t work on prime time I feel like it would’ve KILLED on streaming

Really enjoyed this show when it aired, and I remember my friends one by one, sneaking out of the room...🤣🤣 I'm still known as the Guy Who Liked Cop Rock.
That opening rap is pretty, um, well, real uh, on-the-beat as some would say.

I can't thank you enough for putting all eleven episodes on. And without ads! And best of all, not all fuzzy like so many old TV shows broadcast on TH-cam. Cop Rock is maybe our favorite TV show of all time and we can't believe how fresh it still is after thirty one years.
Having your heroes steal a baby in the first scene is bold writing. Liking cops is usually so easy..
From 0:00 to 5:40 this show really worked. Intensity and energy made you want to keep watching to see what would happen next. A great example of a TV pilot creating an impact in the first five minutes.
On the level of Phillip Michael Thomas
I guess I'm one of the minority that LOVED (and loves) that show!!
As a side note,in episode 5, when Kathleen Wilhoite sings "More Than Enough" - that actually is one of my favorite songs and performances of the song of all time.
Thank you for putting all these episodes of this misunderstood but brilliant show here. Its such a shame this well written series didn't last. I loved the show then and still love it now.
This is so much better than the trash known as Glee.
I enjoyed the Glee musical performances, but the show itself, with the contrived interpersonal conflicts and drama, wore me down after about 5 episodes. I realized I was watching the show only to see the next musical performance, so I watched them on TH-cam so I didn't have to watch the rest of the show. Cop Rock, on the other hand, is interesting in a weird way. I can see why it never really caught on.
Agreed! I told my friends that the worst thing Ryan Murphy could do is turn Glee into Cop Rock and he did; nothing can ever top Cop Rock!

I was in college and never seen this before. I was watching a compilation of Dave Letterman calling his mom up and he had her watch it and called her back to see if she liked it. So I was intrigued ( she didn't care for it too much) and being a big fan of cop shows here I am! I just started it. Thank you for putting this on!
I heard a reference on Community during my 90th time watching. I was like wait, what even IS Cop Rock? I can't believe I didn't look earlier. Jeff Winger doesn't miss, I should have known that I could trust him 😂
Walter Cronkite, is that you? I loved it when Letterman would call his Mom. He was still a little bit sarcastic even with her but she knew what was going on.
The premiere ranked 56th out of 94 shows airing that week with a 10.3 rating and a 19 share with 14.3 million viewers watching.
Steven Bochco’s best work. Far more gritty and real than Hill Street Blues 😂

Other than the singing which I didn't care for, I thought the writing, acting, and story line was top notch and really liked the show.
The court scene was hilarious.
The ending was heartbreaking.

I caught an episode while it was airing. I watched it solely because of all the hate I heard about it. I can't remember anything about the episode, but I remember it not being as bad as everyone was making it out to be.
Yo, I never knew they actually AIRED this. We all had heard that the show was being made, but I thought it never got past pilot! This is... I mean... not what I expected... but... also, yeah, it is.

I've heard about this show for years and never seen an episode. It gets a lot of points for just plain weirdness. I think if it overall hadn't been so weak in the writing, music included, it would have stood a chance.

Wow, I've never seen a cop show so blatantly true to life. These bastards are out here stealing babies away from their mothers over less than an ounce of drugs, torturing detainees, starting gunfights for no reason in public spaces, and generally acting like a bunch of thugs, yet I think the show still actually expects you to be on their side.

I repect this show for trying to bring Les Miserables type theater to tv. The problem is this show is too gritty that the music takes you out of it. The reason Glee works it because singing is part of the premise so it feels more natural.
So Glee caters towards a demographic that was responsive to it. I cant see anyone who watches cop shows being like "ooh its like NYPDS Blue meets Broadway!"

This show is so stupid, but-equally-it's also, at the same time, so stupid. And yet in spite of that, it's so stupid.
This idea of a show is not bad, but they really needed someone like Lin-Manuel Miranda to do the music to make the show better.
