Thank you sir. Mine wasn’t leaking but when I remove the tank just the line to the injectors would weep a little, and that o ring was looking cut up.. I purchased the Vinton O ring set from Harbor Freight $10,, dug out the old o ring in my fuel line and used A009 o ring. So far so good.
Hey brother, this video was of so much help. I thank you for this. I went to O'Reilly's and bought the brown Viton o-rings that are for fuel and that stopped the leak. Sure enough Harley wanted $70 dollars for a check valve but you saved the day thanks.
Hey Squid! (I'm also former Navy), I've been refurbishing old bikes in my garage for resale for years, but haven't had much experience with some of the newer Harley stuff until recently. Your video saved this old Airdale a few headaches. Much thanks for posting, you rock! Semper Fortis
I Have an 2011 883 Iron, and it Started Leaking Gas From The Fuel Line, I'm Not Getting Any Reasonable Help Fixing It. So Being a Female, How Hard is It To Fix Myself?
Congratulations for the very educational video I have a 203 Iron 883, and I have a problem, after 10 meters of road, the fuel reserve warning light comes on! even if I have a full tank of petrol. it always stays like this.. I thought it was the float? 😢
? How do I remove Check Valve from Tank? It Has 3 O rings.. 2 in tank end and 1 Smaller up inside Base snap connector End.. (small internal) Thanks Ozzy.
Thank for the Intel gentleman. 2.00 pick set from Harbor and a trip to the local gasket making shop produced a close enough match for the o-rings. I did remove the tank to get to the upper ring. shot some silicone lube and re assembled took it for a test drive and it appears to be a success. Less than one hr start to finish.
Thanks for the info ! I Just did the jobs well done. Spend $4.99 for these oring box and do it self .Take to the dealer HD Technician estimate Cost $69 for the oring plus labor, Total $250 or bit more..🤔🤔
Mine has gone today while riding out for the day. Other videos say it is usually the first O’ring in the female valve. Without the fancy and expensive ‘fuel tool’ to take out and reinsert new seal, how did you do it to get the new seated properly?
Thanks for posting this. I'm having the same problem. Quick question: Did you have to remove the check valve from the tank to get the new o ring seated inside it or were you able to do it with it still on the tank?
Hey, no i ddint have to remove it from the tank. Im sorry about the long time for the response I’ve been on a ship. Basically i flipped the tank over the seat and working on it right there then flipped it back over and done
OK got mine out of fuel line but its in pieces so I'm guessing on buying a set of orings?? The oring in quick release is:10mmIDx14mmODx2mmW hopefully the fuel line oring can be found?? Any one else know size, thanks....
Eduardo Valadez dang man im sorry it didnt work out for you, i feel like you might not have used the right size o-ring. I have had mine on there since that video and i haven’t had any issues and people have been saying that its not rated for fuel and this that and the other and thank god so far its been great. If i stubble into that problem again i will make sure to get accurate measurements to the o-ring and list them in the description. But hey stay tuned i will be coming out soon with a good amount of build videos on the budget side of the house.
Lastlaugh1001 hey, so i basically got a pick and pulled it out without damaging it so much, then i went to o’Reillys with both of the bad o rings and matched it to the ones they have there. I dont know the exact size but it was a bit of a tight fit but after i replaced it no more leak ever since
Lastlaugh1001 also to change it i got the new and put it in there and with a round punch or round object gently pushed it into the cut out where its supposed to go
Motorhead883_ dude you’re a life saver Thanks a bunch. I found an oring that works for the bottom connection and fitted it like you did in the video. Did you drain the tank before you changed the check valve oring?
Man i'll have to scope that out,i just changed my rear rockerbox gasket and now the bike wont start! I did Everything as right as i could and it turns over fine but thats all. Ive also noticed now that the fuel line doesnt fit as tight and when i push up on it gas leaks out now! Im not sure thats what is keeping the bike from starting but it couldnt hurt to tighten up the fuel line,Thanks! Any replies on troubleshooting the starting issue would be greatly appreciated!
@@motorhead883_8 hey yes i do have spark(i got a wicked shock),but when i came home today there was gas dripping from the coupling so i disconnected it and took the tank off cause its leaking from the tank fitting and idk how i get that o-ring out of there, tweezers? I need to get a pump so i can drain the tank. I started to unscrew the tank fitting and i still have a half-tank gas. Also, not positive but my line-fitting looked different,i'll take photos when i get a chance.😖
@@Blap552 I used a very small pick it was a slight angled pick but the o ring was already broken so i just went around and broke it off and poked it till I was able to pull it out. Be careful because the little nipple in the middle is spring loaded. So dont loose them
Having any kind of fuel leak and starting your bike is not safe. Im sure you can call your dealer ship and they can arrange to pick up your bike. I know my dealership has a trailer that they will pick up and deliver bikes so i would give them a call

West S thank you!! It really means a lot that i could help you out! Mine has been on there since i made the video without any issues.
Please tell me the dimensions of these o-rings
Saved me some cash! Thanks man this really helped out and luckily it worked.

Man i put one up inside the quick disconnect and its not leaking for now! Thanks brother,Happy and Safe riding!
Heck yeah brother, enjoy the ride now and stay safe
How did you do that remove quick disconnect or lay the bike down.
Robert Senecal where did you get them from ?
Genius , got this problems solved now 💪🏼💯

Honestly not hard at all just pay close attention to how everything comes out any questions let me know
Bro. Thanks Iam doing this today. I got my bike back from Harley. With this problem.
Thanks for the info I fixed mine this way! Just bought a o-ring kit and ta da!
hey bro thanks for the video! I was curious how you got the metal spring out? Do you have to remove the o-ring first? thanks
Got any info on how I can fix the leak that's coming from the bottom of the hose it connects to the fuel injectors??
Part number W5201 at O’Reilly it is the smallest o ring in there works great and is fuel safe
Dude I tried this but is not working, did you change the ring on the top part too?

How do you take the spring out?
I have the same issue.. Thanks for the tip!
How do you guys remove the spring? Cannot figure it out

Hey see thats great, as long as a good quality o-ring is used that is for fuel then it will work great
Would be cool if youd showed us how you got the ring OUT of the tank
What did you use to get them out and put them in
Pick tool works

Stephen Williams i used a pick and be very careful not to tare the oring
Good luck when the gas eats up your non-fuel resistant oring! You need to use viton orings.
RL Williams i will keep that in mind thank you for the information, so far its been on there for almost a year and no issues so far.
Saved me $115. Bought the bigger case of metric orings from orileys and it had the 2 I needed. Back on the road!
What holds the o-ringo in? Would have been nice to see how you took it apart.
Ringo Bingo the oring just has a groove it goes into if im not mistaken and partnof the tank like a tube goes through the middle of the oring
@@motorhead883_8 ...Yes , I figured that out two weeks ago but thanks anyways. Mine had a piece of rubber caught around the o-ring causing it to leak.

Motorhead883_ What ship were you on? Are you in the military? I spent 6 months on the uss Rushmore when I was in the Marines.
Hugh Jasol yes im in the military. I was on the usns mendonca its a cargo ship for vehicles. Pretty good time
Mine was rebuilt at the shop, but now I'm not able to start my bike
That’s all good till you start it up and the 59lbs of fuel pressure hits those rings and gas spews everywhere! Back to Harley.
Gary Goodwin ive had mine on there since the video and no issues. Maybe you got the wrong size o-ring?

Jose Arguijo i fount mine at o’Reillys you might be able to buy a little set from them its always good to keep o-rings around
What tools did you need to get the O rings from the check valve ?
Eduardo Valadez hey, i used a small right angle pick or a 45 degree one, you can find a set at autozone for like 10 bucks but o’Reillys has the o ring
@@motorhead883_8 I changed the O rings and it just minimized the leak but I still had a leak :( ended up just buying a whole new check valve.

Is it safe to ride to the dealership with a leak like this (I just got one)? I think I am just going to pony up and have the dealership fix

Why? You like throwing money at them ?? 90 a hour labor plus a 90 hose? Come on brother, get your big boy pants on and go fix it yourself.
Should tank be empty of gas?
Aaron Lovern yeah its best
But i id mine upside down
@@motorhead883_8 was the valve leaking gas when line was disconnected
What tool did u use to get it out...
I believe I used a curved pick
Took me an hour to remove the old one because the ring going very bad..I use the dentist tools and the little mirror to do the dentistry jobs 😅
Thanh Nguyen i used basically that its a pick or whatver but i think i used a smal 90 degree one
I have the service manual. I think it is like $80. It will save you any unnecessary trips to a Harley dealership.

And with a 1200 conversion kit still running
But you didn’t show us how to tear it apart, good to know
What is the size of the O-ring?

Thankyou
I did this on my fatboy loss of power due to fuel starvation
Don't really care about seeing a guys hairy leg!! Gross. But nothing was explained on how to change/replace this check valve.
