I’ve been going through your videos and you’ve inspired me to want to play again. I havnt played since last time I deployed to afghanistan. But now I’m twiddling my thumbs deployed again so time for me to get another guitar. Thank you
Hello from Canada, I am glad I can help you and that you like my channel. I will try my best. Hey, I am trying to get 100k subscribers, I would appreciate it very much if you would subscribe to my channel and tell your friends. Thanx for tuning in and good luck to you ands yours
Marty, I just found your videos and noticed you have been on here for years. Where have I been?! I have been playing guitar since I was 12, I just turned 50, and I have to tell you, after all those years of guitar lessons, trying to memorize notes, theory, and everything that goes along with it, I have learned just about as much from you in 1 month then I have over all those years of plinking and picking. My buddies, one who plays drums, another on bass and myself have been getting together once a week or so for over 20 years just to make noise and have a few beers, and after spending a few hours watching you and your technique, we got together and his jaw dropped when I started playing what I've learned from you. Very easy and concise lessons. Even though my technique may be a little more advanced then some of your followers, I have been making it so much more difficult then what It should have been all these years. And to top it off, we have the same taste in music and same reach in vocals, as I'm also the singer. My buddies and myself may even start playing at some friends parties now. Night and day difference in our sound now. Thanks for your time and effort! Great job!Dave.
Wow!! That's great. It's my pleasure I am happy to help. Thanx for your kind words and I'm glad you and your buddies are rockin' it!!! I'd like to hear you sometime. Thanx for your note and for tuning in. Good luck to you
Wow! This is a whole account of how to play for casual groups. This is why I learned to play because all the guitars at parties disappeared about 30 yrs ago. Plus you picked great songs to teach:excellent choices! Thank you sooooo much.❤️
Not only casual groups, I also use variations of these tunes in pro settings as well, they always go over well. Parties should always have guitars at them, mine do, I wouldn't have it any other way and you can too!!. Thanx for tuning in, Good luck to you in your learning
Thank you Marty for another great tune. I will have take some B-12 to help remember all these songs. Once again thank you for all the hard work you put into your channel until next Thursday take take care.

You are awesome. I've been trying to learn this song for an embarrassing amount of time. I just started trying to learn guitar. I don't think I'm musically talented.

Hi...I love this song and really enjoyed your version of it! I have only been playing guitar for about 6 months,so could you tell me the strumming pattern for this song in terms of up up down down or whatever it is.Thanks
+DJ Libertine That's great you are just starting out, play as often as you can, it will get better, I promise. The strum is the same all the way through the song, it goes like this the way I do it with the slap strum which is not mandatory - D-D/SLAP UDUDU D-D/SLAPUDUDU ,,,,,,,, I hope this helps, good luck with it
great channel. I suggest that you put the lyrics in the comments section so that the viewers dont have to go back and forth between your video and other sites.
+Nicholas Scheer Slap strum is a great tool but ids not manadatory for any song I do, I suggest you play it without the slap strum and then as you get more comfortable with the chords, you can start to add it, remember it is not really a slap, just a light muted brush if you will. Good luck with it and thanx for tuning in
I've heard that before, I consider it a compliment, he is a great singer, thanx for your note. Hey, I'm trying to reach 100k subscribers so please spread the word about my channel, it would be greatly appreciated

So the hubby watches your videos all the time and one day last week was learning a song that had almost the same tune as this song... Do you know what it could be?
My 2 guesses would be Kiss an Angel Good Morning (sometimes people play that in G instead of E) or Against the Wind by Seger. Maybe even Have You Ever Seen the Rain by CCR as it shares a G chord and strumming pattern.
Alright thanks a lot
+CheeckyMonkey101 you are very welcome
what cord pattern is this song when you started you said g, d,
but when i watched you play it it looks like g, c, d
There are actually 4 chords in the song but it starts G, C, D, then Em is added in the chorus. Hope this helps
Is there an expedited way to harden the fingertips to play easier?
unfortunately not my firend, playing a lot over time, hardens them up. good luck with it!! It will get better just stick with it
OK, thanks. I will...
nice, helped me a lot, I just add the picking in the beginning, I can't sing though :-)
i have the same fender strat
+William Towle it's one of my faves
Anyone else having a hard time with that slap?
No
Marty put the cords playing in real time across the screen please
I am confused about why we are making a full g chord if we only pluck the low e
Why not give the cords in the order they are played
What's the strumming?
Richard Whitehead I play this with a slap/muted strum to give it a little body. Or you can just strum through the chords. You can choose to use it or not, either way it will work. acually mine has a whammy bar
+William Towle mine too, I just removed it, it's still in it's case, like I said,,,,it's one of my faves
You're playing it too fast Marty... It's a ballad, not a soft/country rock
Not the way I play it, id have a pretty boring channel if I played all these tunes exactly like the record, wouldn't I? I like to make it my own a bit, you should do the same. I encourage all to play

Alright, thanks man... I'll give that a shot... I'm a country singer/musician myself... I LOVE anything to do with country music
I know I’m late but this was hardly a lesson he got carried away and just started playing
dont like the slap sorry not a good version
SCRAM 5:26
Could you please explain the strum pattern , like down up down up up or something like that
+CheeckyMonkey101 Sure, While I want you guys to create your own strum patterns through practice and because that's the beauty of playing, that you can make it your own, I will try and answer your question. You can play this with or without the slap strum that I've added, both ways work, the strum is the same through the whole song,D D/slap U D U D U D D/slap
D D/slap U D U D U D D/slap,I hope this helps, good luck with it
if you play it with the actual music it's easier. Don't sweat the pattern, after you do it a bunch you'll find it in your own rhythm
