- Easiest TV repair for SONY LCD TV REPAIR, This will fix lines on the TV screen, trying reflowing chips see my results at the end of the video, learn how to fix Sony KDL-52V and KDL-52W 12 or 14 red flashing standby light is tcon board error, kdl-40ex, kdl-46ex, kdl-32ex, kdl-52ex, kdl-60ex 5 red LED flashes is tcon error, red blinking led light tv codes here-goo.gl/hT72ec , tv shutsdown / turns off after few seconds or lines in picture screen or black / no picture or half screen. Tcon board or aka control board that connects to lcd panel goes bad most of the time but sometimes it is the lcd panel tabs that can go bad which is expensive to fix. Reflow is temporary fix but reballing chip is better. tcon boards cost under 100.
I can't believe it worked. Saved me from buying a new main board for my lcd tv. Cover the top with foil like in the video. Definitely don't put it in for 10 minutes. Almost burned the shit out of mine and found a lot of damage from the heat. A tiny piece even fell off. I should have put it in for 5 minutes instead of 9. But surprisingly it worked! Ridiculous.
I fixed a 42" LG no picture no sound tv (I got on CL free) by using a heat gun and reflowing the graphics processor, the tv's been working perfectly for 2 months since then. $15 heat gun from China on ebay. I put thermal paste on the thermal pad.
Once I saw a method in a PS3 Board that consisted packing the board with the aluminium like you did with the processors exposed, but instead using the heat gun, the board was putted in a cold oven setting the temperature 120ºC I guess for 15 or 20 minutes, and then increase again to 220ºC 250º C for another 15m, after that the oven was shutdown and left the board cold down. I already try this method with success on a PS3 but I dont know if is still alive, because it wasn't mine.

Good vid, but... I would have dropped some liquid flux down underneath the processor before applying heat, you may have had better luck with the reflow.

I know this has nothing to do with this tv in particular recently somebody crashed into a pole couple blocks down i seen the power surge i got one foot away from flipping the main breaker to the house and BOOM all the power suppressors exploded everything was good except my philips 42 inch i opened it up and the fuse was blown what else should i check should i just replace the board?? Is it possible it just junk now there are no burn marks nor any blown CAPS
Sweet attempt ! It's probably cheaper to just replace the board with a used one , than to have a reflow repair and a new chip ? Thanks for the video dude...

I have a sony bravia 37m4000 and im having issues with ghosting and volors being somewhat solarized. My question is this: can the tcon chip cause both issues at once or do you think it is a combo of the lcd is bad and the tcon chip? Thank you

I had that it can be 3 things, tcon board, tcon connections or bad lcd panel tabs. Check connections then my next guess is tcon board. Get at shopjimmy.com
halo, i took my SONY KDL-32EX720 to a repair shop and I was advised that BRC LCD PANEL S32TSP part no.181133931 is faulty. do i need to buy the whole panel? or cani replace the component?

I have the TC-P50U2 made in 2010, When I plug it in nothing clicks, but the owners manual states it does not have a standby light. When I hit the power button the red light comes on and I hear 2 clicks then the red light blinks 10 times. Pauses and repeats the 10 times. I checked the larger caps and they seem fine, I also checked the sc2 connection and its not shorted. Can you tell me where to go from there as the possible problem

hey tampatec, nice try on the reflow! I would suggest you buy the yihua 850 hot air station on ebay for $50 shipped to your door. You can control the temperature, and they make attachments for different size processors, so you don't overheat the processor. Also kapton tape is heat resistant, so you can put it on other heat sensitive parts on the board and then put the tin foil on.
what % of success you have with it. Reflow I can't seem to get a permanent fix that lasts long term, I tried on tvs and xbox360s, I really want to get reball station but can't afford it.
I haven't reflowed any tv chips, but I have with nintendo 3ds xl ic chip. Reflowing is always a temporary fix, and reballing is better. Reason being, is they use lead free solder which is crap, and when the board heats up, it flexes and breaks solder connections, especially with lead free. If you reball bga its more permanent because you use leaded balls, which are stronger. Is it worth buying a reball station, is the question? It's a lot of work and the stations don't go cheap. You need an infrared station and not just hot air for reballing. They have cheapo's for like $300, and are supposedly not too bad. The good scotle boxes start at like $1600, I guess it depends on how much you want to use it.
I'm just floating ideas, I mainly mess with phones, tablets, and video games, I always watch your new vids, because I would really like to get into t.v's, and you put out awesome vids.

I need your help. I have a Sony KDL-46V5100 LCD that does not have audio and does not have video. Sometimes the power works using the remote and sometimes it does not. At times, I cannot shutoff the power from the panel power button so I have to unplug it from the wall. The green power light appears to stay when the LCD is turned on, but the backlight cycles on and off continuously. Main board p/n is 1-879-239-13 and Power Supply Board p/n is 1-878-599-11. I am thinking I have a problem with the main board. ShopJimmy.com is out of stock for the main board but Ebay has one. What do you think my problem might be? Thanks in advance.
Main Logic board issue but if power board doesn't have steady standby volts then weird things Happen.
The standby 3.3 volts was steady as a rock when I measured it. I'll look again tonight, and confirm that there are no fluctuations in voltage. Thanks for your help dude. You are doing a wonderful job with educating the consumer.
Hi there is a way to bake the tcon in the oven like the mainboard or a gpu?
Mr. Heavy Problems yes but it's only temporary fix lasts maybe less than 1 month. tcon IC needs fresh solder with lead, so reheating bad solder joints is short term fix at best.
I tried to bake the tcon putting it in the oven: 190° 10 minutes, no results. I have vertical lines and i decided to by a new one. I hope this will fix my tv. Thanks for the reply.

I have a vizio ,GV52L FHDTV10A, HDMI 1-2 shows nothing ,HDMI 3-4 shows 480 with few dots sparkling and 720i-p and 1080i lot of dots and flashes snow screen and 1080p nothing.i visually looked for bad components. I also have a vizio E422VLE (dumpster find lol) showed orange on bottom half ,found bad capacitor,took it out and tv works fine only thing seems like takes longer to come, not to long though, should I leave it like that?
