Hi Collette, the round fitting on the top of the lamp that the chain is hooked to unscrews. Than the top cover will come off. Good Luck!

I have the exact one I am trying to restore. How did you remove the top? It does not have the 3 little screws like the bottom part does. Thank you!
Sorry to bother you again! Did you use the entire two quarts (64 oz) of oil? We tried with just 32 oz and lamp didn’t work - motor submerged but wondering if we need more oil? Thank you for your help!
Yes, you need two quarts so your not sucking air, Good Luck!
You can also use mineral oil from your local store. It works very well.
