OK, So i'm only 2mintues and and my mind is already blown!!! I had to stop and just say that merging the notes together has just made my damn night! Thank you! I'm seriously in shock from that...OK calming down and back to the video.
Thanks a lot Steve, once again another brilliant video on Evernote. I found your Evernote Journal video incredibly useful for when I am using my notebook at uni! :)
Great as always, I really love your videos! :-) Didn't know the possibility to create a table of content for the notes - great thing. Unfortunately this table of content isn't dynamic so if you add further notes you have re-create the table of content. Still a great feature!
I would love to see Evernote integrate an auto table of contents creation feature. Basically, when you would create a notebook, Evernote would automatically create a table of contents note within that notebook, and every time a new note was added to the notebook, the note would auto add to the table of contents. That way, we wouldn't have to manually redo the table of contents every time we add a new note. I would hug everyone if they would do that. I'm an Evernote junkie. I go to Evernote therapy every Tuesday after storming the castle.
Christian De Vos It only means they are stored locally and not synced to the cloud service and your other devices, you still access then from within Evernote, there is no separate version to find in Finder.
I wish Evernote would incorporate some sort of filter system like Todoist has. I love how Todoist allows us to filter tasks by using specific words. For example, I have a filter called "Due" and Amy task that has "due:" in it, automatically shows up in the "Due" filter. Evernote has tags but tagging notes is something ain't nobody got time for.
You are my Evernote guru, thank you for all your awesome videos, I've learned so much so far! Any suggestions on how to backup all Evernote created notebooks in case my hard disk goes dead?
mohd afandi md amin I have a short video on how I do it th-cam.com/video/jHUJgHyixB8/w-d-xo.html And I also have an online course you can check out at my website, if you are interested.
Is there a way to make a note or notebook to be in the cloud just until it has been synced across all your devices. Then make it local on all the devices. That way you could save some info that you might not be updating on a regular basis on all the devices but it's not in the cloud that could be hacked.
Your presentations are great Steve and have learnt a lot, thanks! Just wanted to know what software you use to create these videos - it looks cool with you giving the description and the content in the backdrop!
Thank you, Steve. I agree with the comments about security. I'd like 2 factor authentication. But I think Evernote's problems may run deeper than the fact that customers want common features and the company isn't listening. First the CEO was changed, then layoffs and cancellation of ancillary projects. All this adds up to make me worry that Evernote will continue to exist. Any insight to share about the future of Evernote?
+Kyle Kimberlin Actually I was encouraged by Evernote cancelling the fringe projects, I think they needed to refocus on their core business. The CEO change does not concern me nor do the layoffs, which can be attributed to the discontinued initiatives. I do however remain concerned about how well Evernote LISTENS to their user base.
Steve, it doesn't appear as though the table of contents function in Evernote is editable once the listing has been established. For example, reordering the contents of the listing. Also, can I update a table of contents as I get more information? For example, adding a "December note" to a previously established table of contents containing January-November?
Thanks for the great tips. Unfortunately "presentation mode" is available only for premium subscribers. I thought that was the same for encryption, but I'm happy to be wrong. I find very useful the "table of contents" functionality, and I didn't know this new feature. In fact, I used to create table of contents manually. Excellent.
Hi Steve, have you tried the new evernote jot stylus? If so, how do you like it? I use evernote a lot and am considering a purchase of the new stylus and using with penultimate. Any other recommendations? Thank you.
Michael McGuire I am using one of the older Jot pens, but my iPad is 2nd Gen, so I really don't get as much benefit. Once I upgrade I will give it a go!
Steve, Once again, awesome presentation of some frequently overlooked stuff. Thanks! (Not sure if you mentioned it, but "Presentation" is a paid feature after the first 30 days)
Steve, You should do a presentation on the incredibly powerful .pdf annotation features within Evernote. Evernote is my go-to for annotating exhibits that I use in court (no confidential information, though). Tagging, highlighting, arrows, text, Evernote has it all.
Brad Pearce Good suggestion, I have to do some research, because if I am not mistaken, all versions of EN are NOT created equal when it comes to managing PDF. Let em work on it!
Hello Steve, First of all: a big THANK YOU for all your movies about Evernote on TH-cam. I learned a lot about Evernote, that I use now as my second brain. In september I will give a short speech about Evernote in the Apple Club of my town. But I still have 1 important question about using Evernote: - some users prefer to have less notebooks and stacks, but a lot of tags to find their notes - some users don’t want to use tags ('too much work’); they use the notebooks and stacks as folders; they found their notes using the search tool of Evernote. What is your opinion about that and what do you recommand? I don’t think I have found a movie of yours concerning this issue. Thanks a lot. Greetings from Belgium
Christian De Vos Hey Christian I am Glad you found the content valuable. Personally, I prefer less notebooks more tags, as the tags create context which I find more valuable than structure of an notebook. Said that, there is no "right or wrong"of doing Evernote. I hope this helps!
dottotech Thanks Steve. I think I will use 20 to 30 notebooks (to keep it simple) and within these notebooks some tags. A combination of both systems will help me to find easily my notes. Thanks again.
dottotech I definitly agree with the people in Evernote forums asking for password encrypted notes and notebooks. If someone is snooping on my computer and evernote files weather at my computer or a hacker they should not be able to walk right into my notes with information that is meant to be private. So hopefully Evernote is making that feature a priority. In that same vein, Evernote allows us to put images in our notes if we want; so i would also hope that evernote is working on a way to encrypt images just as we do text. Do you know of any current or future evernote plans to provide these types of encryption is future updates
They've removed the presentation option from iOS devices, even for Premium subscribers. Evernote presentations off on an iPad was a really wonderful thing.
I want Evernote to automatically create a table of contents for one of my notebooks. You lost me when you said "all you do is click select multi-select all of the different notes." I thought maybe you meant to highlight (select) multiple notes, after which an option will appear allowing the creation of a table of contents of the selected notes. However, Evernote does not allow me to highlight multiple notes. (I tried right clicking and dragging, left clicking and dragging, simultaneously right or left clicking while holding down the CTRL button and then dragging. Nothing works.) Maybe your version on Apple is different than my version on Windows and Android? Maybe the table of contents creation feature requires the premium version? Bottom line: after watching your video, I still have no idea how to create a table of contents for an Evernote notebook.
dottotech Where can I find the link within my evernote account I need to provide people so that if they purchase or upgrade evernote based on my referral, I can get credit on my Evernote account? Thank you.

Yes I did. It's all over Google, with Evernote things go into the abyss never to return... It forced me to look at other alternatives. I fell in love with OneNote although it took me 2 days to get it to sync, I sill love it. I actually never thought about using it until Evernote FAILED ME AGAIN...
Steve, you're the best. I am a magazine publisher and just did a Happy Dance with the Table of Contents creation I just learned from you. Thank YOU!

Hello Sir... how can you merge two or more notes in IPad? Thanks in advance!
I'm trying to build a table of contents according to your instructions but I don't know what's meant by click on multi-select.
If you're on a computer, press Ctrl then each of the notes
Good tips. Thanks!
Do you know if there is a way to screen grab something directly into an EXISTING note, one that's already saved? I'm using a MacBook Pro.

ALL Evernote data is encrypted until it gets to your devices.
This was well over a year ago and in my opinion Evernote has not done enough to improve their security. At the very least there should be a way to delete all notes on a desktop version of Evernote that has had the authorization revoked. Major security flaw.
+Steve May I agree security is the #1 shortcoming in Evernote. It limits what you can use if for.
you didnt even show what it looks like after encryption ...
Are you likely to take a look at One Note? I'm retired, on a small pension, and in the US, we may have some ugly health care cost increases soon. I can't afford to pay Evernote and the rent.
I'll just save the pass phrase in an evernote notebook. lol.
No mention that these features are only offered with an Evernote Premium Subscription.
+Robert Neumann They have changed the plans since this video was created
+dottotech does this mean that these features are removed for free users whoever were using for past few years? Thanks.

Go to the top right of a note and click on "Share"
Copy the public link
Paste that into your email
the recipient will click on it and open in the browser the note you want to share.
