Another great video dude 😎. What a coincidence, I received my Penrose for PS5 this morning and been testing it.
Now I said before no matter which headset or headphone you use and I’ve tried many, give or take a couple of metres you’ll hear the footsteps from the same distance and I’ve been using the Astro A20 and I love it.
However, I have to say you were right about the Penrose. This thing is a different beast. I don’t hear footsteps from any further away, it’s still around 30 metres in Warzone, but it’s so much more detailed and hats off to Audeze.
But unfortunately majority of user reviews are correct. Only 2 hours in and I started getting disconnections, crackling, popping. Whilst I don’t think it’s the most comfortable at all, I can live with that, but these weird disconnections I cannot live with. So I’m sending them back and once Audeze starts developing more reliable headsets, I’ll try it then.
As for the expensive headphones you mentioned in this video, great headphones no doubt, but a normal consumer/gamer and there are loads of us wouldn’t invest £900 and more for amps, unless someone is a streamer and plays competitively.
I don’t know but I wonder will the elgato wave xlr be able to amp up the dt990 pro
Audeze penrose possono essere collegate a una PS5 con DAC/AMP per sentire meglio i suoni? Avevo letto che si rovinano
What headband is that on the penrose?
techie can u please make us a video showing us how to connect the amp and dac to the xbox series x with the Audeze LCD-GX Gaming Headset?
Awesome video, Techne! As far as what is "too much" or "overkill," I believe that it friends on personal priority. Even with high-end graphics/display upgrades, nothing has been truly life-changing like the audio upgrade for me. I used the Logitech G Pro X headset for years. Now I use the LCD-GX with the Schiit Hel 2 (the DAC/AMP), and it brought me to tears when I heard my music... I've been a musician from age 9, studied it professionally, and it's part of my identity. As a musician, that's what I prioritize and connect with. Keep doing what you do, Techne!
agree, same with my jeep, I have so much money sunk into it, but again it my passion
@@TheTechne Hey, a fellow car enthusiast! I'm actually a product specialist for Kia. Been into cars and arcade racing games for a long time! Hearing my old favorite pieces of music from racing games on Sega Dreamcast through the LCD-GX is still surreal...
Thanks for the kind words about the headphones, and thanks to Techne for the review!
@@TheTechne ha - I have Jeep too. JL
@@jello2tube ehhhh nice man, any mods?
Mister Techne, Thank you for your reviews. They helped me no end. A little over two weeks ago my Creative fatal1ty headphones gave up after 15 years. After nigh on 40 hours of research, a lot of that time your vids, I bought myself a Arctis Pro with Game DAC because it best suited my purpose and needs. I wasn't impressed with the sound - as you said. Until I downloaded the software hIres and custom as you recommended put YYZ (Rush ) back on and I was in heaven. I installed the software about three hours ago and still haven't got to a game, still stuck listening to Rush! A whole world of new sound. I cannot imagine how much better these in this review could be .. So from the north of England I lift a glass of fine ale to you, Cheers mister from a GS12 rider
Wanted to come back to this video to say this video changed everything for me. Got the ifi zen dac and amp and holy cow these paired together are absolutly game changing.
I don’t feel it’s overkill. Having patience and buying quality gear is better than continually replacing junk with more junk. I don’t buy gaming headsets because I don’t see any value in them. Great video✌️
Not excessive at all in opinion. Sound is huge. Sound is easily 60+ the experience in movies and games. I'm personally in love with the planar magnetic sound. I own the (Sundara, Penrose and LCD-2 (classic) paired with the Schiit Hel 2 (multiplatform device use) and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (desktop speakers). I'm definitely looking to step up my dac/amp game in the near future. It's an expensive hobby. I agree most gamers don't care. But once you experience quality audio there is no going back. I'm also over the whole wireless craze.. Wired is optimal in about every use case to me.
I don’t have experience with Audeze (yet), but lately I have been gaming with my HD600 and despite people saying they’re not the best for gaming, I think they’re great. Haven’t had trouble tracking footsteps or distance at all. And the sounds all come through clean and don’t drown each other out
It's always important to remember that everyone's ears and brains process audio differently.
The other thing to keep in mind that you may not know what better soundstage and imaging even sound like.
It's most important to just keep trying things until you find what works.
@@VulgrDisplay come on now, does anyone in the audio hobby ever just settle on a pair of headphones and that’s the end of it? Lol. I’ll be trying stuff for the rest of my life. I was pleasantly surprised at the HD600 for gaming, though. While I’m sure there are better options if we are talking competitive gaming as primary use, I tend to forget how much audiophiles exaggerate things. Now mine are relatively new, so maybe the imaging and soundstage will diminish as the pads wear in, but right now they’re good enough for me
This is another great video, and I would say it is not overkill at all. As long as it is in your budget upgrading your audio is something you should do. I personally would love to have a more in-depth video over amp and dacs and which ones would be good to get. Maybe some on the low to mid-range for someone on a budget just to get started with. Thanks for all the headphone videos they are some of my favorites.
I would highly recommend the Schiit stack, it's hard to beat for the money
@@imKhokie Thanks for the advice, I will look into this.
How much of a difference is there between the LCD-GX and the Penrose? I own a pair of Penrose and was curious what the next best or current best option is.
Solid video. Love your stuff. So you ask, is a thousand dollar audio set up overkill? I'd say no. I'm a big believer in the Mythbusters motto of "If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing." So essentially, I believe there is no such thing as overkill
I've been looking for this kind of review for a while. Thanks for making it!
thank you for watching it
Would love to see a more elaborate review on the LCD closed backs. As this is your main I'd love to hear more on what you really think. Appreciated ❤️
Do you have a video showing how you set up the stack with the headset? Like what cords and stuff and what each does in more depth on info?
i was skeptical about going from the cloud 2 wireless to the penrose, man oh man world of difference couldn't believe how good they where. thanks for you review's
game changing man!
Finally some validation! I'm currently rocking the LCD 2 Closed Backs together with the ifi Zen Dac and it just sounds phenomenal! Tahnks so much for that vid. I always worried that its overkill as hell, but good to know that I'm not the only one insane enough to spend that kind of money :D
lol, the real bad thing is your standards are so high now, lol
Just went ahead and bought myself some LCD 2 closed backs as well, waiting on delivery but really hoping these are a vast improvement on my already great beyerdynamics MMX300, can't wait to try em out
I ordered the Penrose x and returned them already. I did order some custom ear pads and planned on swapping them out...but those Penrose had a strange crackle every once in a while...like every few minutes while listening to music. While the highs sound great I wanted more bass than what they had. They just weren't warm enough for me. Also the build for 300 seemed cheap...I know they're planar magnetic so perhaps that's where all the money goes.
I don’t think you know what cheap feels like 😂 go feel some turtle beaches then call em cheap
I use the Mayflower Arc MK II with my PS5 and I use a lot of different headsets but mainly the LCD-X 2020 and the Beyerdynamic MMX300. I also sometimes use my Focal Clear MG. Audio is important to me so I don't mind getting the different headphones. My next set is either the LCD-XC 2021 or Sennheiser HD800S. Love your channel and keep up the good work.
Mayflower arc mk2 is amp ? And you recommend mmx300 for me ? I'm using ps5 too
I have the "Au-duh-zee" Penrose and Mobius with Wicked Cushions. Fantastic sound and comfort. Keep on making great videos Tech!
Love ya recommendations mate! I got the cosiar xts and wasn’t 100 with them only due to using them on ps5 full time. Which makes the sound profiling locked to out of the box. They’re amazing otherwise! The build of them was next lvl! However got a razor black shark v2 pro and profiled to close to your settings and play a lot of D2 and BF and very happy with the headset! Feels great on and the sound is awesome too. Landed them on sale here in aus for $200Aud with four years warranty. Very solid choice for those in that price range. Again love your work mate and truth be told when you talk about stuff which is becoming less and less easy to find in the big wide web 😅😂. Cheers legend!
The Penrose have such good audio quality, I loved this video
Honestly, as much as I love the sound from my Penrose X, I have a hard time recommending them to anyone. Constant disconnects, terrible battery life, and extremely lackluster wireless range among some of the other issues I've had with them.
I got the penrose have had no problems since full updated.
A
Look into changing the 2.4 channel on your router that interferes with the 2.4 wireless connection. It made all the difference it’s something to look into
Modded the Mobius because of your video, totally worth it!!
Hey Techne, how did you change the A on the Penrose to Red from the horrible lime green? Just got the Penrose X thanks to your videos on them.
Techne!!! I want those red and black penrose you have! 😁😎. Goes good with my gaming setup. Best TH-camr/Reviewer ever. Love ur vids man. Makes my home so STINKY COZY when watching ya man lol.
“BUT DONT LET THE WORLD CHANGE YOUR SMILE”…..ur sign in the background. You live that. Great vid and keep smiling TECHNE
thank you so much man :)
@@TheTechne ur more than welcome! Keep those great vids coming for us
@@TheTechne by the way how do you have red audeze logos on your penroses?
I’ve been extremely impressed with the Penrose X. I used to be a fan of Sennheiser and then Astro, but once the Series X got rid of the optical cable I struggled to find a headset that took full advantage of Dolby Atmos. The Penrose X are perfect for anyone who takes their gaming seriously. And at $300 (got mine for $170 Used/Mint on Amazon) they’re a steal.
I’d probably draw the line at $500 for a console headset.
The issue with the Penrose in my opinion is the microphone. Sounds like shit
@@Nonx47 which is funny, because on ps5, the microphone quality is great
@@SpencersStuffTV I've heard tests with it on the PS5, it still sucks. Using it on a different platform will not fix the hardware inside the mic and/or how it transmits it wirelessly. The wired mode isn't that great either. It's also super sensitive and picks up breathing from the nose even with the windscreen. It's just not a good mic, even after all the updates
@@Nonx47 not sure what you're listening to then. I get plenty of people I play with saying it sounds great, and even listening back to captures, the mic sounds solid. It's not a dedicated microphone good, but for what it is, I haven't heard many better on console. On PC, that's another story. It could also be where my voice registers too. I have a lower voice so I may be in a sweet spot for the mic as well
@@SpencersStuffTV there are a lot better than the Penrose on console. Hell, anything from Corsair is better and they have a lot of wired headphones for console. The USB and USB dongle wireless Corsair headphones work with PS5 as well, and they BLOW the Penrose out of the water with the microphones. The Penrose headphones sound the best compared to all the gaming headsets IMO but I'm honest about the sound. Your friends probably don't know any better or just don't care much about the mic quality. It's not a big deal, but the Penrose mic is bad when you compare it to the competition
Love the penrose, takes some getting use to the sound but the soundstage and mids are amazing
Still really vibing with the white and red. The set feels a lot more open. Loved the video as always.
thanks man, I feel the same way as you mentioned. even just going in the room, it feels more inviting
Could you tell more about the LCD-2's and the setup with the amp and dac? Maybe do a seperate review around the LCD-2's as you did on the Penrose and GX? As seeing that is your main, it also peaked my interest in the whole setup for the LCD-2's and I don't see a lot of reviews for gaming usage on these closed back ones on the internet.
I play a lot of Warzone and I’m also passionate about my PS5 single player experiences like God of war Ragnarok etc. I just ordered the IFI V2 zen dac/ can with the LCD 2 closed back headphones over the GX. I hope I made the right choice here !
Good sound is not cheap, but definitely worth it. People spend huge money on PCs and accessories and then they have cheap gaming headphones. I don't get it, sound is so important!
Btw other excellent headphones are Denon AH-D7200, they are so good for everythink, games, music, movies.. They are fun (incredible bass, but does not overdo anythink) and also competitive (top imaging). It's been a long journey to find headphones that have everything, and these are it. Also they are semi-closed, so you have somethink from both worlds (open vs closed).
Another great video bro!! I dont think any product you put up is excesive or out of reach mainly because the world of gamers is such a broad spectrum. We have the weekend warrior gamers who are content with your standard gear all the way up to the people that aspire to be a pro gamer that want that extra edge and are dying for someone to show them what the best gear is gonna be for there rig. So keep up all the awesome vids, no matter what it is WE WILL WATCH.
How did you manage to change the audeze logo on the pen rose to red? Also curious with the headband you attached to it, I’m guessing the tiny cushion that comes on the penrose wasn’t cutting it over time
Would love to see a review with other high end gaming or audiophile headphones like sennheiser 800s or 820, beyeurdynamics, focal. Also is there a great dac amp combo? Also if you have a really good soundboard dac combo like creative a7 etc which pushed 600ohms would that work great or should you still get the external dac and amps?
Great video. I feel like with any hobby, equipment will be expensive if you want the best of the best. That being said, I am thinking of treating myself and upgrading my headset from arctis 1 to the penrose thanks to your video. I am no audio guru and consider myself naive when it comes to headsets which is why I love watching your videos but can you elaborate if console players can even use Audeze Gx or LCD with a Amp and Dac? Especially like for PS5????
The LCD GX can definitely be used on a ps5 controller.
The lcd 2 closed would kinda struggle
I use optical to connect my DAC to the TV for console gaming (Lots of DACs these days don't have optical input, so you'd just have to make sure to get one that does). For PC gaming I go USB-B to USB-A cable. I would definitely not use headphones like these on just the controller audio jack, because you're basically losing any benefit of the amp at that point.
All depends on your budget for me,a lad at work bulked when i told him i spent £150 on my penrose(2nd hand) but def worth it.I also have them modded with the red camo gel cushions and that makes them a lot more cozy, headband on it's way :) 800 is bit much for my budget but if i earned more money i would for sure try the top range.
How are your penrose holding up? Mine cracked on both sides where the earcup meets the headstrap. Totally disappointed... and i really take care of my stuff.
My only thing about the penrose is those magnetic drivers. They sound amazing but I have had two pair of them now and both have ended up with a crinkle in the ear cup. The magnetic drives have a thin plastic cover over the drivers and if or when that gets loose you can hear it crinkle. It starts by happening if your trying to get them to sit on the ear and press them in. It then gets worse over time and now it happens if I have it turned up and the bass is punching I hear the crinkle as well. Along with the range on the wireless is about useless it might get 20 feet or just disconnects when your sitting 2 feet from the dongle. Also after hearing the recorded connected voice over and over and over is enough to make you pull out your hair.
So you need an amp and or DAC for the LCD2? You can’t just plug them into your controllers and go or will that just not do them justice?
Hey Techne! I got the Penrose and with your help got some Wicked Cushions on them. Stinkin cozy now! Thanks a lot. Now, what's the headband cover you have on them? I think I might need one since after a while I feel it poking hard on my head on the headband contact point.
tbh for a common average student/part timer, it is slightly overboard. but they have amazing qualities non the less.
Totally not overkill IMO, *especially* for someone like you for whom these items basically constitute tools of trade.
But even for private individuals I believe it'll almost always be worth it if they just end up spending enough time using that expensive thing that improves their quality of/satisfaction in life.
No one has conclusively proven to me that we got more than this one life, so the moral imperative would be to get the most out of it.
And if great audio (wether just for music/media or gaming/other desk activities) improves the life satisfaction "wattage" while using it enough to make the investment worth it given enough time, then no one has a right to scoff at it IMO.
Just found your channel and glad I did. I just switched to pc and had my turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2s that I honestly loved but they kept disconnecting from my pc. So I bought the beyerdynamic mmx 150s I did not like the sound quality at all so I returned them and got the steel series arctis 7+. I honestly do not like the quality from these at all either. I messed with the sonar settings and I can't find a good spot that makes them sound even decent. Like I said I came from the stealth 700s and love them, I've never had studio grade headphones. In your honest opinion what should I go for next? I do want wireless. A50s, penrose, or should I just bite the bullet and get something better? Please help as im tired of getting these headsets and wasting my time messing with them to just send them back. Both the beterdynamics and the steel series sound like I'm listening to a recording of the game I have a hard time explaining it but something just not right and they don't sound "high quality". Thanks for your time and you've earned a new subscriber!
I’ve just made the switch from PS5 to Xbox series X and also made the switch from steelseries pro wireless to the Penrose. Can’t wait for the headset to get here.
let me know what you think once you use them
Keep us updated!
PS5 and Series X. Best of both worlds.🤷♂️
@@TheTechne my left cup rattles if I move my head when there’s no audio, they refuse to connect to my phone via Bluetooth, and the chat mix click and roll just isn’t as good as having the separate wheels like I did on the pro wireless. I miss not having the game day to display my chat mix and volume also
FYI still keen on getting the penrose. Just have these for now and very happy for what I need without blu tooth!
wow nice... i have an orbit s.. should i try the penrose .. how big will be the difference ? tnx adv.. great content
You think you will ever do a series on IEM's (earbuds) for gaming/casual? Think view wise would do well, and would be interesting hearing how you find these compared to your headphone experience and reviews, good or bad. I have been looking a lot at the "Moondrop" line recently and they have def caught my eye/ear ;)

Can you review Austrian Audio PG16 for $169 , suppose to be a professional gaming headset from them, might be a hidden gem
What closed back headphones do you recommend for max of $200? I play a lot of fps

what is the no1 best ps5 headset in 2022 love the content
Hey @The Techne .. I hope u read this.. what do you think about AudioTechnica?? Specifically ATH-M50x? Are they worth it? Or should I go for something newer?
Penrose question: I have them and really like them but after about 30 minutes they start to get really uncomfortable. The earcups are fine but the headband creates a lot of pressure on the top of my head. Were they doing the same to you and does that extra headband cover on yours fix that problem?
if does a little. with the combo of my ear pad mod and headband they become "stinkin cozy"
Awesome video! *I've decided to go with the Audeze Penrose. Do I need the external amp/ect to get the most out of them as well...???*
The Penrose has an in built amp dac that runs on battery , and it’s wireless too. So you wouldn’t need to plug it into an amp or dac
No they're wireless
These are nice headphones but well out of my price range. I shopped around for a while for some good sounding and well balanced closed back studio headphones. I ended up with the Beyerdynamic 770 pros on sale for $135. Their legendary reputation and bright sound profile won me over.
Great headphones, but way way way to bright
Bright brings out those details. And I also should have mentioned that I have a sound blaster g6 (purchased after watching your review) so I turn the treble down a touch when I need to.
DT 770 80 Ohm are great!
@@TheTechne Totally disagree with them being way too bright. The 990 Pro's are bright but the 770's definitely ain't.
I'm thinking of switching from my Arctis 7x to the Penrose X. I switch between the 7X and HD58X and an amp for when I want that wired sound. This was a good comparison between the 3 headphones. I took your advice and used the cool gel WC on my 7X. Those were pretty comfy to start with, but after the earpad swap, the comfort is next level. The sound wasn't affected either if anyone is concerned about that.
I made this exact switch from the Arctis 7x to the Penrose X and it was a game changer for me. If you appreciate good audio, you won’t regret it. Trust me.👌
Penrose is a definite step up from anything. It’s my go to headset not for anything multiplayer
doe's the penrose work on ps5
@@colinhunter9170 yes

are these better than Astro A40tr with mixamp is worth upgrading to penrose from that headset. appreciate any reply
The Penrose makes it itself the most worth it headset ever. As all the other audeze are wayy wayy more expensive. Making Penrose one of a kind.
I am last to the party but I am just now trying to add "closed" vs "open" back into my comparisons. If you are not worried about ambient noise in your gaming space, would you ever recommend closed back vs open?
Yes, as with anything else in audio, it's going to come down to preference. Some people prefer a more intimate sound stage for immersion and better noise isolation. I have very little background noise in my room, but I often listen to music on the LCD-XC (closed back version of the LCD-X, which is a small step up from the GX in this video). They are also fantastic for gaming, it just really depends on which mood I'm in. My open back option is the HD800S, but I find myself going back to the XC more often than not. Both sound / feel very different, both are excellent.
I'd describe it like this, the XC makes me feel like I'm at a small concert with the band playing in front of me. The HD800S makes me feel like I'm in a large field and the music is coming from all around me, with me being at the center. Both are fantastic in very different ways and can be equally immersive.
@@imKhokie thank you!
What did you use to make the Audeze Penrose logo red? For competitive gaming are there any benefits to the Lcd-gx or Penrose if you have your ps5/xsx in a home theater with ultra high-end Dolby atmos 9.4 4 dedicated speakers?
just a random paint pen off amazon
@@TheTechne This made my day man and I can't believe I didn't think of that!😎 I'm still torn between the Penrose or lcd-gx as my consoles are hooked up in a dedicated high end home theater I built but I'm building a straight gaming setup 2 now. I'm not sure any headset can match that level of immersion but has its benefits for competitive mp. Anyways, love your channel and many of your videos have been very helpful.
The best of the best stand alone microphones? Mid and high tier list? There are lots of videos for the $150 and bellow but what if you want a microphone equally as awesome as these headsets here?
Can you use the Audeze Penrose EQ settings on wireless or do you have to connect it with the USB-C to use the EQ Settings feature?
Can you use the lcd-gx with a external mic you mentioned with a ps5 and xsx or only a pc?

The Penrose is perfect for any person that wants a good gaming experience. I say 300 is good for a amazing headset.
Hi any chance to get wicked cushions in EU? And which one are for oenrose because on website there is no cushions for penrose? Im thinking of buying one.
Should I use DAC/AMP compo if I have headphones with internal dac? I have hyperX orbit which use the same membrane from audezee . Should I see any difference if I buy penrose? Should I see any difference if I buy zen amp/dac?
the orbits are made by audeze, same thing. they even use the same software
Really depends if it is excessive or not. Everyone has their own passion etc. also depends on how much gaming everyone does along with music etc.
I am not there yet to spend that much $$$$ on a headset tho would love to try.
What is the ear pads called on the penrose? Thanks
I bought the Penrose for PS5 and I actually don't find the audio to be that great. Also the connection keeps dropping

@@MaazFz same headphone. Just saying that it doesn’t matter how good a product is or how expensive it is, there will always be someone who doesn’t like it. It’s too bad you are having connection issues. It’s likely getting interference from other wireless devices in your house. Mine has been rock solid with both my PS5 and Series X.
Hey techne I have the Penrose's and they do sound amazing I'd like to go to the LCD gx is this feasible on the series X or weeould it be wasting the headset ??
ummmmm, if only on one console I would say waste. but if you use them across multiple platforms, music and all, I would say 100% worth it
I was burned twice with the Penrose, and that should have been it...but...I couldn't stop thinking about that sound. It stayed with me and when I went back to using my Arctis Pro Wireless, it was crazy how much I missed that sound. It's crazy that that is something that can stick with you and knowing how much of a step up they are, even with the APW not sounding terrible. So, I'm on try number 3. I got the X version and so far, everything is working better. Range was never an issue but did have some random drops, not with this one. Did the earcup mods and have the headband too, and just comfy as hell. Discord is still an issue, via Bluetooth on my phone, as it does introduce some popping and breaking, so I'll just use my APW for whenever I actually use that feature specifically. PS5 is supposed to get native Discord chat support so that'll solve that issue. But man, having that sound back. Bliss. I do see a bit of conversation about the build quality and I can definitely see those points of breakage, so it's not completely unfounded, so I do baby mine a bit, but I'm sure it would be fine with how much I actually use them. All in all, I'm glad I have a mostly working set because they are so damn good and I just couldn't stay away.
Wierd I throw mine around alot
@@Zaevia Mine are still goin strong, with no issues. I mean, I can see the area people all point out, and it is a pretty thin joint of plastic but I use them with some care, as I always do with my stuff. I've had my APW for over 3 years and not a single break even though I see people posting pics of those just falling apart and it boggles my mind because mine are still pristine. Hoping for the same length with the Penrose because they are such great sounding cups
Just recieved my Penrose X just based on your review of them - and by the GODS they are good!
My question is - do you use a 3’d-party software on your Xbox like dolby for more surround?
And do you have to make any adjustments on the Xbox settings when taking headsets in use? (Came from PS4 to Xbox Series X)
I never never never use any sound morphing software, on pc or console. I love good quality headset sound. Now I do tweak eq's sometimes. but as for dolby, or 7.1 anything like that...... never
Dolby Atmos for headphone is great on the Series X imo. I paid for the license and will never go back to stereo.
Even more impressive imo has been Sony’s 3D audio solution on the PlayStation 5. It’s absolutely amazing with the Penrose X.
@@brucecarter6205 I have a Mobius, and if you haven't tried their Waves surround implementation it's pretty incredible. They were one of the first companies to do object based surround sound. I don't always enable it, but it's very enjoyable to try even when listening to music - in my opinion blows atmos for headphones out of the water. Typically I'm with Techne on this one, I don't like using this kind of software - but it's definitely fun to try out.
@@imKhokie no never tried. Sounds interesting though. I’m assuming that’s only on PC and with the Mobius, correct? I’m strictly a console gamer myself.
WATCHING this on the penrose and im just like yeah, yeah yup, true yeahh yeah truee that's true , yeah that's true ur right
LCD GX sounds incredible, the "leather" of ear cups is low quality though :/ But for gaming and music, this is by far the best headset ever in my opinion
The only Audeze which doesn't need EQing is the Penrose. LCD2-C OPEN would be my choice for the budget < 1000 $ OR Sundara or Ananda driven by JDS Elemts II. Currently using the LCD-X 2021.
WHAT ABOUT soundbar g6 u recommended are they good to push these headsets to their best audio quality
it would, but I haven't personally used that combo
How does the Astro A40s TR do compared to the cheapest one?
Do you have a link for that red Penrose headband? Thank you
links updated
@@TheTechne Thank´s
I thought the Penrose were Closed back.
they are
@@TheTechne ah. I think on the screen where you had the details of all three you have it listed as open. Good video though!
*Those that like Audeze are all old folks. Almost all younger generation hated that sound signature!*
I already have the Cloud Orbit S. Is there really any difference vs Penrose?
There is no difference they use the same drivers , it’s just that the Penrose is wireless.
@@blob4793 gotcha! Appreciate it!
no
personally dont tihnk the zen can is necessary the zen dac is already really good if you trying to save money and penrose by itself is easily the best value
I have gsp 300 350 600 370.. beyersynamic custom game and ath pg1.. epos h3.. with omnisound 5.1 soundcard.. and i think there are differences but after a while i noticed i wasnt searching only for clarity and details, what mattered is how fun it was while having this detail.. and the epos h3 with ath pg1 became my favorites..so i think 300 is the max i would pay because in the end nothing justifies paying more for gaming
Is it possible to connect the DAC and amp to ps5? 😁
Techne I have the arctis 1 wireless with wicked cushions and there super comfortable I want an upgrade in terms of audio and just all round better headset what would you recommend
penrose 100%
I use the iFi Zen DAC/Amp V2 combo. You don't need to buy the two separate. I paid €120 here in Ireland for it.
Also, to answer your question Techne. I think to your average gamer 800-900 is just too excessive. They are lovely headphones but i just don't think they make much sense unless that is you are also big into music. Personally speaking i have a few expensive headphones in my collection but that's because music was my first big obsession. I've been collecting vinyl since my youth (2,000) records and counting and i like to have the best listening experience i can so for someone like me then yes but i just can't see it for everybody.
@@garethg8226 I agree, and I listen to a bunch of music, not an audiophile by any means, but I love love love music.
The only three things in my setup are good audio quality, but the best headset is unavailable right now.
Sorry these are flawed out of the gate. Had a pair of Penrose foe less than a week and the diaphragm now makes a crinkle sound in the left ear cup whenever I move my head. Google it and you’ll see it’s a common issue. So much so audeze acknowledges it and thinks it’s acceptable. For as much as you pay there’s no way to justify such a huge flaw. Literally vibrations from walking with them on causes the crinkle sound even…too bad because the sound itself is definitely nice.
Hi there great review again always looking forward ro your blogs all amazing... just a quick note for you and your viewers..
I'm 55 years old lol but have Tinnitus though having my headset to load over the years of playing games.
You probably agree it's a crippling thing to have..
It's up to you but be great to mention every so often to have your volume lower: :: you don't need them as high as you think to hear the game..
Just a thought: :: take it from a friend: you don't want Tinnitus.
God bless 🙌
Maybe that’s why I have it haha
Still on my beyerdynamic 990 pros and Most likely never change that 😅
Amazing headphones.
Hey do you know if any Wicked Cushion fits on my turtle beach 700 gen 2!?
Best gaming headset in the $150-200?
whats best for hd560s? dac or amp?
Pls have a review for beyerdynamic mmx300 I need to know this is better or steelseries arctis pro wireless
I need to
@@TheTechne so you making video about it?? its very helpful 👌
How did you make your audeze logo red on the penrose?
paint markers from amazon, lol.
@@TheTechne Love the creativity😂
If you need to „upgrade“ an 300$+ headset for comfy, you know its not a good headset period
My thoughts exactly, you’re paying for the name Audeze.
I beg to differ
If only you could try mine
@@mattwilliams9415 nah. I own ones and they’re amazing. Best headphones I had. Still have em and going almost 2 years
Kaira pro or kraken v3 pro for ps5??
Sennheiser will always be my favourite audiophile brand 😃
Sennheiser has always been a touch heavy on the mids/warm for me.
