Nothing in woodworking is ever perfect and materials are often unpredictable. The good thing about it compared to engineering though, is that it really doesn't matter what goes wrong as everything is fixable and as long as it looks good at the end, or even as long as it doesn't look terrible, you're golden 😉
You're not wrong. I didn't notice straight away, but when I did, the air turned somewhat blue. Still, it's a workbench. That's what it's for I suppose.
