  • Vizslas are active dogs, requiring a high level of physical activity, given their hunting history. They do not make good kennel dogs and prefer being with their owners. They are highly intelligent and need activities to keep them occupied to prevent destructive behavior such as chewing and digging.

In this video, we are counting down the top 10 facts about the Vizslas that you might not know.
    A Quick Overview:
    Group: Sporting Dogs
    Weight: 45 to 65 pounds
Height: 1 foot, 9 inches to 2 feet tall at the shoulder
    Life Expectancy: 10-14 years
The Vizsla is described as lively, gentle, and affectionate, with above-average learning ability and a strong desire to be with people. He's known for being biddable, but there are always exceptions - some Vizslas can be stubborn, excitable, or shy.
Energetic and athletic, the Vizsla can become bored and destructive if left to his own devices. But when he has the training, exercise, and companionship he needs, this eager-to-please dog is hard to beat.
Vizslas need a large amount of interaction with people. They tolerate other dogs and cats well if properly socialized. Other pets, such as rodents, birds, and reptiles, should be kept away from the vizslas. Because of their hunting heritage, they are liable to kill such animals.
Vizslas make good watchdogs and generally do not bark excessively. Well-socialized dogs are friendly to strangers unless threatened. Vizslas may suffer separation anxiety and fear of loud noises such as thunderstorms.
Vizslas are ideal for owners who want a medium-sized, active dog for hunting, hiking, and other outdoor activities. Vizslas do not do well left alone for long periods.

Vizsla's can get so excited that sometimes they pee themselves. That's true. Otherwise it's a goofy breed. Needs lots of attention. Shiny. They are cute :)

I liked this video very much, i have a almost 1 year old vizsla named Vitéz and I'm in love with the breed. :) As i see a lot of foreign videos of vizslas are forgot there are two types of vizslas. One is in the video the short haired vizsla (rövidszőrű magyar vizsla) , but there is an other one, which is the long haired vizsla (in hungarian it's drótszőrű magyar vizsla). You should check this breed too, they're very cute but really underrated. :(

Actually, the "other" Vizsla is a wirehaired Vizsla as opposed to a long haired Vizsla.

I really enjoy your videos, but you constantly mispronounce the word 'ma-gyar'. So I'll show you:
    'ma' - like in 'mo-ther'
'gy' - like in the word 'due'
'ar' - like 'are' but no rolling 'r' but flat
Hope it helps! Keep going with these videos, I love them! Would love to see breed comparisons more, it's a handy feauture!

I will say that my dog is a black lab and vizsla mix and she has a black coat, with brown undercoat that shines through in certain places. Would you say that’s common or she was just lucky to maintain some of her coloring from the vizsla?

Thank you for such interesting info!
But what about barking? I'm going to get a puppy soon. We live at the apartment. Much barking may be a big problem with neibors I guess.
We had a flatcoated retriever before. He was extremely quiet. I found out he has a voice when he was about a year already) he passed away early this year, and I just can't take the same breed. He was the only one.

It depends, my vizsla barks when she hears unfamiliar sounds, voices, etc. but she stops when I tell her to. But if she’s focused hard on something she’s unhappy with, she’ll bark a lot.

The "velcro" aspect of the Vizsla is a fault rather than an attribute. This kind of behavior makes the dog volatile/stressed. It's quite sad really. Normally, a stressed dog is not a happy dog and how a stressed dog copes can have some pretty wide-spread, negative results. Hopefully, responsible breeding will address this aspect of the Vizsla but somehow I doubt this will happen. They do like having a job. They are - after all - a hunting breed. They are happiest when doing what they were designed to do for centuries.
