Ruby - a favourite recurring member of the BikeRadar TH-cam team - is almost certainly the world’s most famous trail dog and is definitely the world’s fastest. With a top speed of over 40mph clocked, this 6 year old Hungarian Vizsla is a serious piece of equi-paw-ment.
Wanting to take a notch off of her hard-earned glory, Jack and Joe thought it would make for a fun afternoon to try racing her in a number of mountain bike challenges. However, the pair needed more firepower than their little legs could muster if they were to stand a chance of beating her.

My 10 year old Vizla still loves to run and play, runs like she is 5, but her leg has arthritis. slows her down a bit, but when shes having fun she will push thru that pain and play ball, chase squirrels, or run after my car when i leave lol

I have a vizsla who is currently at the ripe old age of 10 years but she still has the mentality of a puppy. They're such an amazing breed
We lost our Vizsla on December 5, 2019 at almost 15 1/3 years old up to the last day of her life she was a going concern - loved to run and hunt.
Da Realist I had one too. Got him in 1999. He was a rocket!! Second to racing breeds only I’d say and sweet as can be.

OMG what a nice video. I had a Vizsla named Ruby as well who unfortunately passed away from cancer cancer 2 months ago at age 6. We loved her so much and she was an amazing dog. So great to see your vizsla running on the trail. Yes they are fast. I used to take my girl down a grass runway 2-3 times a day but used my ATV as she could blow me away on a bike. They LOVE running and are the most amazing and gentile dogs. Enjoyed your video and almost cried bringing back all my memories.

That dog is a machine.
The dogs biggest advantage is they're not affraid of loosing grip. They do slip occasionally, but they generally don't give a paw if they'll wipe out. :-)
Fatbiking in the snow with a few trail dogs is just awesome! Only solid ice gave them half a second of pause.
Mine will bounce off trees and just keep on hammering it.
That line choice!! Great instincts at 5:00 - slices the inside of corners where she can, and rides the berm when it's the better line! Fun video.

The difference? The dog could repeat that workout 30 minutes later....... then 30 minutes after that..... for the rest of the night.

Wow, Ruby is awesome! That corner speed and the way she finds the line. Any racer should be jealous. My Vizsla puppy is already showing promise and she's only 12 weeks old!

Australian Kelpie. They don't get tired. I got one my self. We go for bike riding for 2 hours.
endurance dogs? Vizslas (The dog in the video), weimaraner, dalmation (depending on the lines/breeder), german short haired pointers. there a mixes bred specifically for dog pulling sports like sled pulling, canicross, bikejoring etc
Ruby is absolutely gorgeous! Makes me miss my old Vizsla. He would give me the same look any time we had popcorn.

Vizslas are a great trail dog. They have an innate need to be 20-100ft ahead of you, like they have FOMO over whatever you're checking out so they never want to be behind you, but are too clingy to wander too far ahead or off course. Great speed and endurance too, and great obedience if there's any hazards you want to keep them away from. I started taking mine on trails off leash when she was only 4 months old and there were no issues, and she's still a great trail dog now at 11 years.
Vizslas are dope!! Best run partners of all time

@@staurn5148 Most cannot. The word vizsla contains 2 difficult letters: zs (which is one letter, not z and not s) and a. Zs is pronunciated like in measure, treasure, pleasure. A is not your English 'a' but (according to etymologists) rather a transient sound between English 'a' and 'o'. You can listen to Hungarian videos about the vizsla and can check how it is said in them.

our male viz is 9 this summer...a few summers back he was trailing me on a down hill section and licking my sweaty knee as I coasted at about 35mph.... he was comfortably in his zone, cantering along!

It was obvious that the dog was not just hungry but starving, it makes you wonder if the owner feeds her only a small amount of food in order to keep her in top shape. It’s what they do to greyhounds which is beyond cruel, I hope it’s not the case for Ruby!

up here near Calgary - the trail runners often go for long 3 or more hr runs - up and down the Rocky Mtns - running steep terrain downhill - wow - the dogs are often flying!! faster than runners - plus - they often explore off the trails - added mileage

My shepherd mix is an amazing trail dog. 20+ miles was nothing when she was younger. My dog learned to follow behind me too. She would move off to the side and let me pass. Best bike dog ever! A dog in front can be really dangerous. I love seeing other trail dogs.
there is a problem friend at 3:27 you can see that ruby has lost her camera mount and at 3.40 sec she has mount again so i wonder weather ruby herself have remove the mount and put it on again??
What type of gps tracker are you guys using and recommend? I need one badly for My new dog. I got this dog from the shelter a week ago she Looks identical vizsla with I think of a chocolate lab mix since she has a shiny chocolate color. Shelter listed her as a short lab. we made the mistake of thinking if we let her off the leash with some other dogs at a big park thiniing she would just roll around with them like labs usually do. So 2nd day with her unfortunately before she knew her name well we took her to a big park with 4 baseball fields and 5 soccer fields lots of dogs rollijg around together at this place. Instead she took off like a maniac easily hitting 35 mph+ darts through 3 baseball fields in 6 seconds, runs straight through a 3rd basemans legs in the air while trying to catch the game ball. Swoops up the game ball and darts off 2 more soccer fields away in less then 5 seconds to a germain sheppard drops the ball to him and then let him mount her. Only because of that did I catch her. Got their 1 second after he got on her and broke it up. Then vommitted for the next half hour as I tried to catch my breath. I'm 90 pounds heavier and 15 years older since the last time I sprinted for track and field in college and I am only getting older and probably heavier based on my current pandemic trend but hope to reverse it. so catching her is not something i can depend on again even if I was at my peak shape. So I really need a good tracker in case of an emergency if she got out of the house or broke off the leash or something.
Although a week later she always comes back to her name now very caring can't leave our side and is very smart. Although have not let her off the leash since. But run with her every day now on leash at human pace.
But still want to be prepared for unexpected worst case scenarios.
After that I was like thats not really a lab speed. Yes they are fast but that felt a bit different. So was looking all over the internet to find something that looks more like her. In the end she looks identical to the vizsla face and body shape outside of different color and no green eyes. so I am 90 percent confident that she has some of this in there.
She is the best dog personality wise. So I really need a good tracker for her if anything ever happens to her over the next 2 decades of taking care of her again.
Which ones do you recommend? Looks like you have a few on her collar here. Is there one you prefered?
hungarian vislo, is that spelled right? I have a husky/aussie mix and I tried taking him on a bike ride but he is definitely not built like ruby. That's ok I'm a fat biker with a fat dog and a fat belly, hahaha. WOWOW that was so cool to watch her RUN...SO FAST.
