The people in the comments negating she was the first Black supermodel, supermodel means global fashion representation. Iman was in Vogue 3 days after arriving in New York. That gives you the type of career she had, including becoming the muse of Yves Saint Laurent. Supermodel is something unique and no other Black model had that until Iman. They didn't say she was the first Black model, they said supermodel.

Donyale Luna was given this title. She was also the first black model on the cover of vogue in 1966. Why this title; Luna entered modeling in a period that favored "white passing models" and has been described as "the first Black model who really began to change things; to enable more diverse beauty paradigms to break through". Kudos to Iman - she is in her own lane. Just saying - when you Google.....Donyale Luna comes up, not Iman.

I love her to death...drop dead gorgeous, smart as a freaking whip, and ONE TOUGH COOKIE. But Iman wasn't the first black supermodel. There were two BEFORE her. And their names are Naomi Sims, who Im pretty certain, was the first black model to be put on the cover of a major fashion magazine (may she rest in peace)...and the legendary Pat Cleveland, who had been doing print modeling and runway modeling, BEFORE Naomi or Iman. She also did private viewings/shows for the ultra-wealthy, where she was a muse for fashion gods like Karl Lagerfeld and Halston, BEFORE Iman broke thru, a decade after her.

That's something how Iman and Beverly Johnson were against the rival of Black models and became friends. Iman told the same story on Naomi Campbell TH-cam chanel; No Filter. However Naomi Campbell, who I love and respect, didn't do same thing to Tyra Banks, who I love and respect. I do believe Naomi Campbell was used as a token black model in the fashion industry and was against /had a rival with Tyra Banks when she came on the scene. Naomi Campbell chose not to be friends with Tyra Banks instead Naomi Campbell became friends with white models like Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Shuffer, and Linda Evangelista. Regardless of what people think or feel about Tyra Banks; Tyra Banks was part of history in the fashion and beauty industry. These two black models Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks could have work together and became friends like Iman and Beverly Johnson and go against racism in the fashion and beauty industry.

WILL THE WORLD GO THROUGH A BLACKOUT? WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE BLACKOUT?
You must win the battle with your mind.
Your baby self called “Spirit” must rise up from obscurity behind your Mind and take precedent over your mind.
Your Mind must come into realization that it is just a Mind and NOT a Self. Bring Mind To Stillness.
Turn Your Light On. Mind and Self must exist in equanimity.
TIME TO AWAKE FROM THE DREAM! Self Inquiry is the Key
