I'm glad to hear that the Abbey Ridge Observatory, ARO, will continue to exist, and carry on promoting and contributing to astronomy. Congratulations, and all the best.
Amazing how you are so passionate in astronomy that you quit your job and now, you bought an observatory. Just wanna say, good luck with your observatory restoration and I do really hope it all turns out well and as always, clear skies!🔭🌌

saw this on my recommended randomly, like 2 minutes in and this already looks great, the algorithm does amazing things sometimes, I wish you luck and hope you get more popular!
I've only been to Abbey Ridge once, but from my memory it was certainly a model of what a modern amateur observatory can be. He certainly had a surprisingly nice observing location for a spot in a small housing development close to sizable city.
Thats sick congrats! Those piece not turning gave me flashbacks of when i stood on the bike and my brother was hitting a screw with a shovel trying to take of the pedal 😂
We made do! The advantage of the robotic observatory is that if it clears up in the middle of the night, it will open and take images while we sleep :-)
@@LearnToStargaze Yes it was 110 things to see with a telescope. Bought it from amazon and it matched the book in the video. I made sure that it did as to not buy the wrong book. I will get it in a couple days and I am looking forward to using it ! Thanks so much ! 🙂
@@thehoosiercraftsmanworksho1745 Awesome!!! Enjoy the book! It was funny, I talked to Dean on his podcast, and he pointed out that his publisher made him copy my book :-)

@@LearnToStargaze Hi, I beg to disagree with meinkamph5327’s comment. I thought your video is very good and informative. It is concise and the little bits of personal history are not boring but help to give a sense of your character. Your excitement on acquiring this observatory is very obvious. Looking forward to your further videos to find out its new home. Good luck with your observatory venture. 👍

So cool John! Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Thanks Nico! I was so sad to miss the Sunday chat this month. Looking forward to next month!
Sorry to hear about Dr Lane.

Very cool. And sorry to hear about Dr. Lane. It sounds like he helped pave the way for you. And in turn, you're paving the way for many kids.
Thanks Wayne.
Donuts. The best start to any worthy project. Looking forward to watching this project progress.

What a great project to keep a legacy alive.
Be cool to see the updates.

Good to see Dave Lane's ARO will continue its astronomy life in educating others about the night sky.

Really excited for the second part. Sorry about Dr. Lane
Looks very cool, good job 👍
Thanks!

Second! And the comment gave me a good laugh
what a wonderful project!!
Wondering though.. what is the viewing in NS considering all the ocean surroundings?

I remember the presentation given at the RASC GA this year on their project.
It was great. Can't wait for the next part.
Thanks!
Nice Work , can’t wait to see your captures 👍
Thanks!
That was a lucky find. I imagine I'll build my second observatory from scratch.
That's a nice observatory. A lot of work to move it but I'm sure it will be worthwhile.
It sure was! Lots of heavy machines required!
Good fortune on your grand adventure. Peace
There's no place like dome !
Good one!
Well done! 😀🔭

currently in the process of getting back into astronomy and ofc the weather randomly decides to be crappy for a week straight
I was wheezing when he said: oh there's a rats nest, oh that smells bad! OH GOD!"🤣
I’m pretty such that pile of stuff when we removed the dome was the rat, haha.
@@LearnToStargaze 😳
I bought a second hand dome and moved it with a group of friends it is now up and running.
That’s the way to do it!
I like the fact it has a Telrad, although it is a fully computerized and aligned telescope.
Yup, that hasn't been used in a long, long time.
GOTO scopes can make use of Telrads for when the alignments aren't quite upto par and needs to be redone.
@@patricescattolin43 In many cases, but this has a camera for eyepiece and is locked on latitude and azimuth.
We were at the 100 inch Hooker Telescope on Mt Wilson for an evening, and sure enough, it had a Telrad mounted on it! They show up everywhere 😂
I just found your Channel. Subbed...👍
Thanks!
@@LearnToStargaze>>> You're Welcome.
I thought Dave just got a deal on the old telescope at the BGO.
Nah, that scope is still in storage at SMU.
