      @@JoshuaMKerr my img sequences were stored in a network drive and windows was making a hidden thumbs.db file in the same folder as the img sequences. These thumbs.db files are not visible even after enabling viewing hidden files. So I had to turn off a couple of windows settings to prevent the thumbs.db file from generating.

    This + your pre-key tutorial for Unreal were so helpfull! I'm stuck on a mac for now and thought there was no way for me to bring prekeyed footage over to Unreal, as I am unable to export an AVI with alpha (what I had seen other people doing). But had no idea about Open EXR! Going to try this out.

    Ah, so one of the things I value is good contrast.
    To that, I recommend covering your window with your favorite thing... a green screen.
    That way, you can still show your beautiful window, BUT, it won't cause your camera image to lose contrast, and you will get a much better foreground.

    • @JoshuaMKerr
      @JoshuaMKerr  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry, its been a while since I made that video. What window is that?

    • @marcfruchtman9473
      @marcfruchtman9473 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JoshuaMKerr Oh, so, the light from the window behind your head at the start of the video... you know, how light in front of the lens messes with the sensor, and causes it to think the image is brighter, so you will appear darker. (Or you could add foreground light... too)

      @@JoshuaMKerr Keep the Unreal virtual production tutorials coming. We're on the cutting edge of this new technology that's going to change the industry forever. There's not much info out there yet, and everyone is trying to figure out how to get the most realistic results without having to use a cost prohibitive LED wall. I love your idea to bounce the light from a projector to get a similar effect for a fraction of the cost. Would be awesome if you did a full in depth tutorial on your virtual production setup and how to replicate.

    I use S1H and VLOG as well for Chromakey and it works quite well!
    In Da Vinci Resolve I create a node where I saturate everything up so that colors are speratable easier. With this node I then add a node to chroma key. I then take the alpha path from there and leave the ugly colorgrading behind. I take the alpha of this weird colorgrading, but take the colors of vlog, so I have clean cut out video with still all the information of the vlog footage

    • @JoshuaMKerr
      @JoshuaMKerr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting approach. I tend to convert the VLOG to ACES with a lut before doing my key. Might not be as drastic but it works as long as theres enough colour information in the footage. Shoot prores or raw if you can.
