Marty, the way you narrated this video reminded me of my childhood when I used to watch Mr. Rogers Neighborhood on PBS Television. You have a very calm artistic descriptive tone which make your videos very enjoyable to watch after a hard days work. Thanks.
Glad I came across the older video, the peace and serenity that you captured was amazing! If this doesn't make a person want to get out on the water, there something wrong with them. Thanks for the enjoyable video Marty!
Weekiwachee was the first river my wife and I tried kayaking after I got here a couple years ago, and like you it locked me into the joy of paddling. I've been down it 3 times (always start at paddling adventures like yarik83 mentions) and never knew about hospital hole until after my 3rd trip...and never knew about the fish until seeing this video. great job as always Marty.
From watching this video I took the family Kayaking. We ended up using the Kayak Shack. So GLAD we did. Jon was so friendly and helpful. We fished it but had no luck. We too went against the current and got to Hospital Hole before anyone coming down the river. It was so peaceful! Thanks Marty...Tight lines!
Wow, this is so beautiful! Although I left Florida so my time rowing/kayaking was brief, you've definitely brought me back to those times when I would go out onto the lake and just paddle for a couple hours. I hike more now but honestly thank you for the video, it was like being back around the water,
Thanks so much for the beautiful video! I will have to get my kayak up there sometime. My Aunt and Cousin live right on that river. I have visited but never brought my kayak there yet! I would love to fish that Hospital hole for some of those Snappers. Loved the relaxing music as well!
Awesome video, Marty. It is so nice to see someone appreciate the real beauty around them. I enjoy all of your videos. Makes me feel alive and longing to do more kayaking!
man, your set up is a lot like mine...I got a small ford Ranger style pickup truck...and after renting a kayak last year for the first time, I wound up getting a Kayak for Christmas. And now I'm enjoying the fact that I can go bass fishing out of it.
I have watched this video several times and its been on my bucket list to kayak w Manatees. Planning on making a trip down there from here in Raleigh to kayak and fish this location. Looks beautiful and fun. You did a great with this video and the music is absolutely perfect. Might let you know when I come down to get more details and tips on fishing the area
I wish I had more time to do the kayaking down the river. The family and I visited a few weeks ago. Beautiful river. Saw a lot of mullets up by the park. Will have to do the kayaking on the next trip. Great video Sir.
Marty I love watchinng your videos i kayak here in Tennessee but nothinng like the placs you go to.thanks for makiing it exciting makes me want to grab the yak and rods and hit the river.
Going for the first time in a couple days and I came across your video. I to made my reservation through The Kayak Shack. They have great reviews. Can't wait. It looks so beautiful.
Love the video and i really enjoy your patients and clarity with showing all your cool ideas on the upgrades. I live in Spring Hill and love fish yakin in Jenkins Creek and Bayport area. I also yak fish the small lakes in Hernando County. I want to fish Homosassas soon too. Tight lines my brother.
Hey Marty. I just discovered this video. I have watched a LOT of your videos, but this one is the best that I have seen so far. You are the GoPro master. They should be sponsoring you. I have my own channel and know how muck work it is to edit these videos. Outstanding job on this one. I was interested and entertained the whole way thru. One day soon we got to do a catch, clean and cook. I'm over in Kissimmee and we fish TB all the time.
I wish I could produce videos like you. Calm music, simple commentary (not cheesy or overwhelming). I've been planning to drive up to Weeki Wachee to rent some kayaks but with little ones it's a little more difficult.
I had no idea, that is where you started this journey. I caught the bug there as well. Went from "I doubt I'll like it" to we now own 3 boats (20', 16', and 8') and 5 kayaks. Hope to see you there some day. We can trade ideas and talk shop. Look for the blue peddle boat w/o peddles named "Plan B"!
I've been there twice and the jacks aren't as aggressive as they are in full saltwater it seems. The snapper are hungry though. There's been stergeon seen there and I even heard one person saw two baby bull sharks there
Lmfaoooo I swam from rodgers beach (where u left) up stream to buccaneer bay, swam that going into the current. But boy was it nice to ride the current back to the beach tahaha. Its crazy that u live decently close to me. I been tryna get a yak for awhile but no luck yet. Stay easy an keep up the great work bubba.
Rodgers park :) I love fishing back in the canals i live about 10 min from there in spring hill you should try fishing near aripek i fish under a bridge there going over hammock creek there's some big sheepshead there. I love all your vids btw keep up the good work man :D
Thanks for the escape from my production job. I really enjoy your videos. Better than nat geo. Makes me want to pick up shop and move to fl. Thanks again.
I loved this video and now I must do this. My husband and I will probably buy our first kayaks this week. I'm so excited. I think I will sub to your channel as I love the local FL scene. Any tips on how to mount Gopros?
zoffinger We're very excited and can't wait. No more renting. Thanks for the link I will watch your video. We rented a kayak from Colt Creek State PArk and I may post that video soon.
I should. I heard from the guy at rental place that people are taking home their limit of Mangrove Snapper in an hour or two of fishing. I also hear they are good fish to eat.
zoffinger He is right about the mangrove snapper there. You will limit very quickly. And them are some very tasty fish for sure. I have to say I am amazed you haven't caught any mangrove snapper yet and tried them. Also a lot of folks just call them "mangos". They are also as good at stealing bait a sheephead are. LOL Another great video. I need to get back up to Weeki Wachee soon myself.
hey buddy how the you fix the problem of stabilizers for you kayak, I'm in the process to add some of that to my canoe, the one in the market are ok but they take some $$ too. BTW great videa and nice area, I like those BIG fish
I have watched and enjoyed this video many times. I'm not interested in fishing, my interest is photography. I have a canoe now, but will but will be getting a kayak soon and look forward to taking photos and videos of my trips. I will be in Tampa in March of '17.
The music is part of a selection offered in Pinnacle Studio 16 (the editing software I use) Not sure of the title. What's nice is you can stretch the same piece of music to various lengths. And not worry about copyright infringement.
Great video. Thanks for taking us to such a peaceful place. Where do you get you music? Also, have you done a video that shows how/where you place your cameras?
I LOVE this video. I'm new to your channel (Feb. 2016), & as I've browsed thru your vids, I admit to experiencing a distinct difference of feeling & appeal between the honest, naked, soothing, and compellingly appealing energy/vibe of the "poor man" who tricked out a 2nd hand kayak versus the more commercialized vids where u are obligated to showcase sponsors' products. Don't get me wrong, I am really happy for you, that ur channel has experienced such popularity that manufacturers want to gift u their wares... and maybe "relieve" u of ur day job so u can do what u love (fish) closer to full-time (is that the case?). I just miss the simplicity & sincerity & warm-heartedness you exuded in that early phase of ur TH-cam journey-- NOT that it's all gone, cuz you're still you, of course!!-- but the simplicity seems more muted when the vids are as much about someone else's product as they are about ur own creativity, and your own heart's journey & passion. Ur wonderful; wish u the best! :-)
Thanks, Sistah. I do try very hard to 'sell' only what I believe in. And it has made my dream come true, because I have been doing the youtube thing fulltime since 2016 began. I hope I can get past this boat build now and get back to simple fishing again soon. Just... not only in Tampa. But all over the place with the wonderful people I've met online.
I have a question for you. First i really like ur videos. In one of your vids you had made some stand up boards with styrofoam on the bottom of um. What kind of styrofoam did you use? looks like the stuff they use for surfboards, easy to shape and very dense, but i don't know the name of it. I'm trying to make some for my Hobie outback. Also thing bout making the outriggers too. Any help would be great. Oh yeah, what editing software do you use for the gopro? Have tight lines. Cheers
Foam is rated in pounds per cubic foot. The higher the weight, the greater the density. I was using 2lb foam. The weight typically used in architectural applications. Any company that installs EPS (expanded polystyrene) will probably be able to cut you a piece any size you like....For editing, I use Pinnacle Studio 17
I found my Emotion Spitfire 8 on Craigslist for $250. It came with a paddle, the rod holder up front and two flush mount rod holders. I put all the other do-dads on myself.
Gorgeous place to go for a paddle! Do you find you encounter much drag from the stabilising floats on your kayak? In the new year, I should be getting the pro anger 14 and am toying with having a set of them too for it. Thanks mate and keep up the great work :)
zoffinger Thanks. Having never kayaked before due to the horribly uncomfortable seating for someone with a damaged lower spine, I was recommended the PA by Robert Field. After seeing the seat, I decided that now I can finally go be back on the water (I always had boats from when i was a kid) without having half a ton+ to get out of the water again. Without the fuel bills, maintenance and noise either ;) I know the PA isn't the lightest of kayaks out there, but I feel its a fair trade off for that 38" beam and having pedals as well as a paddle. If I could have a sail on it then, then that would be about perfect, but one step at a time. Classes first, kayak second, any add ons later :)
The PA seat is pretty awesome right out of the box, but the seat I created for my $250 Spitfire was also very comfortable. I shaped the seat cushion from foam, custom fit to my bum :^) Still, the high position of the Hobie chair creates less of a 'squatting' position. Hope you find one that's comfortable and can get back out on the water, Mr T
zoffinger I dont think a small kayak would suit where I live as its a busy port with quite fast moving water and high standing waves in certain places and times of the tide. Especially at the mouth of the harbour and over any of the sandbars. With an average rise and fall of 3.75 metres going to about 4.2m+ on spring tides, I like having that extra length of boat underneath me. That said, I serious envy you the cost of your set up!! One blessing is that i am not mad on taking everything but the kitchen sink with me when I fish. In fact most of the time it sits in a waterproof bag on a belt and maybe the odd pocket too. Which may lend itself to the odd night under the stars in summer, along either of the two estuaries which lead to the harbour mouth.
+LightRockFishing Valladares I assume so. There were bait shops along the riverside. I just know which license would apply; fresh or saltwater. Dunt matter. I got both :^)
Hey Marty !! Your paddling my waters , I’d love to go with you anytime , I can also show you some good fishing spots , if your ever interested ? It really is paradise
Ian Mader, That's the thing about fl, you never know what you'll have in the end of a tight line. The bass are mutated and have sharp teeths down here in fl.

Now, that's a heckuva compliment! I was a Mr. Rodgers fan growing up too. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment...neighbor :^)
Thank you Marty for taken me into that beautiful place. It was so relaxing! You are very good at filming. I just love your videos.
I finally made it up there last week. Launched right across from the Kayak Shack. Can't wait to go back.
Glad I came across the older video, the peace and serenity that you captured was amazing! If this doesn't make a person want to get out on the water, there something wrong with them. Thanks for the enjoyable video Marty!

Hey Marty, nice river and nice story. the background music was smooth.
It's hard not to watch this video more than a few times, it was so well done. Great job. Makes me want to load up the kayak and go!

Excellent video, Marty. I feel your pain over not being able to fish but your friend might not have been impressed.
Definitely, not. But I had a great time anyway :)
Well done..amazing place...gonna watch it again....so clear that water...awesome.!!
:) Thanks, Nigel.

Great place to visit. We rented canoes a few years back. The Mermaid show is worth seeing to for a taste of "Old Florida".
I wish I could produce videos like you. Calm music, simple commentary (not cheesy or overwhelming). I've been planning to drive up to Weeki Wachee to rent some kayaks but with little ones it's a little more difficult.
keep up the posts, I'm enjoying the tips you share from lessonss you have learned, so thanks. tight lines to you!
Not only the views are nice but the music makes you feel it !! Nice THANK YOU.. KEEP ON FLOATING.!!
Wow Marty! Fishing, kayaking and romance...This is life!

Sal Aguayo Thanks :^)
I've been there twice and the jacks aren't as aggressive as they are in full saltwater it seems. The snapper are hungry though. There's been stergeon seen there and I even heard one person saw two baby bull sharks there
Wonderful video, aint been there in years, made me a bit homesick!
Thanks for sharing! :)
Thanks for watching!
Great video, you've put the right music on it. I felt like I was there too.
Great video Marty. I really enjoyed this one. Thanks.

Very pretty friend Marty, Nice vid as always. thank you.
She is. Thanks, man :)
Another great video! Thanks!
where did you launch from? I trying to find the best spot for my wife and I. We have never been to Weeki Wachee. Thanks
I think I just experienced Nirvana watching this. Really peaceful. Thanks Marty.
Great comment! Guess I got the feel of place across through this video.

I am glad I found this video after I started watching the SaltStrong podcast....she is cute. I still have to finish the podcast.
I am a new sub. Love your vid adventures. I live about 20 min from there. I will see you in person soon!
I hear wedding bells Marty ;)
Haha...Yur makin me blush, Mr.
Mr FishLots lol
How much did it cost for your kayak and where did you buy it I'm interested in getting one
I found my Emotion Spitfire 8 on Craigslist for $250. It came with a paddle, the rod holder up front and two flush mount rod holders. I put all the other do-dads on myself.

The PA is so stable, I doubt you'll need pontoons. But the ones on this kayak were worth every extra paddle stroke for the ability to stand.
zoffinger Thanks. Nice video once again.
Awesome place to start paddling!
I have a question, are you allawed to fish there?
+LightRockFishing Valladares I assume so. There were bait shops along the riverside. I just know which license would apply; fresh or saltwater. Dunt matter. I got both :^)
I think you can as long as you are not in the park area.
In Florida, if the water is brackrish, a mixture of both fresh and salt, you need both!
Thats the one who lives in the basement of the boat....DONT NOBODY TELL ME THE BOAT HAS NO BASEMENT.
What kind of kayak do you have?
That made me smile.
Right back atcha, fauxcive
Going here tommorow
Amazing Video!
Hospital hole, kon tiki, bait, tackle, go pro...pleeeeeeeeeeease!
your vids are great!!!
Very nice
Love your vids. Do you get much drag or performance issues from your pontoons while paddling?
The additional stability destroys any drag concerns. And besides, I save a ton on gym memberships ;^)
Awesome!!!
I like your friend.. way to go Marty
How come I haven't heard, nor seen hide nor hair of this woman since this video?
peaceful
one of your best , very entertaining . I love the camera angels which i will use if you don't mind .
No worries at all. Thanks for watchin :)
Damn zoffinger you must get all the ladies
I took this one girl in my class kayaking because she wanted to learn and as soon as she knew what she was doing she stopped talking to me
Hey Marty !! Your paddling my waters , I’d love to go with you anytime , I can also show you some good fishing spots , if your ever interested ? It really is paradise
Robbie Kane woezers
Bluegill and Jacks In the same river
Ian Mader, That's the thing about fl, you never know what you'll have in the end of a tight line. The bass are mutated and have sharp teeths down here in fl.
Journey Is The Way mutated lmao
I like fish.
I myself, go kayaking to avoid others. I guess weekie wachee wouldn't be for me...
For his next channel, Cooking With Marti.
