I worked on all the KC-10 'S from the first delivery to the very last one. I worked at McDonnell Douglas Long Beach from the 80s through the 90s. Loved those KC-10 's , just a beautiful aircraft! Really going to miss them!
I was the first Wing Weather Officer for the KC-10 back in 82 and went on their first real world deployment. On way back we dropped off everything and everybody but me at Warner Robbins and due to impending crew rest limitations we took on just enough fuel to get from GA to Barksdale LA. We were at the end of the runway and I was upfront in the jump seat and the pilot said to the co--"lets see what this new **cker can do" and he threw the throttles forward and it was quite a takeoff. So much more power then the early model KC-135s they were used to.
Dear USAF Military Airlift Command: since The Extenders' replacement is being built by Boeing, I strongly recommend that you keep this and other KC-10s ready to return to service at a moment's notice.
nice addition to an absolutely awesome museum.
Absolutely! Glad to see it come here for sure.

I bet! Wish they could've stuck around awhile longer, but naturally that's not our decision to make
Love the Growl of the Kc 10 Extender,💯👌
4191 was a beast to maintain. You really had to put some work in on that tail, but it also came back Code 1 (no discrepancies) many, many times.
Beautiful capture 😍
Good video
Thanks!
Was this on the runway behind the museum or at Wright-Pat ? Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome! This was on the runway by the museum.
It’s the Farewell Flight Of the KC-10. so what do we learn about KC-10
Is this a test?
Final flight from Travis AFB to NMUSAF to be put on permanent static museum display
