@@miiainatiako6006 granted that Yuki was more or less BORN to be her wife and carry on the family name or whatever (I kind of forgot the story I watched it years back) so it wasn’t to much of a surprise, at least not as much as it was in the mortal instruments
I think making you watch something you don’t want to watch is a red flag. Though I don’t have all the context of course.

That’s the one thing that still FULLY holds up for me. The goddamn intro songs of this anime. Why did they have to be so good for such a weird anime?? 😭
They had a mission. And it was to make sure that those two songs were so good that it would be permanently burnt into the backs of our heads for all of time

This was a good anime, and Zero was a homie. He had a reason for his goals and he went through a lot. His backstory is very sad. I rooted for Zero the whole time and I despise the vampire kaname family

Nah cuz in the manga ending kaname gives his heart up to make more weapons and then yuuki gave birth to there child and got with zero which is the worst ending for me it ruined the whole show for me

I am a rare creature. Vampire Knight is my all time favourite manga. I do indeed have a big head over this fact, and in my eyes those who watched the anime and then judge the series on the anime and critique it are the same people who just read the title of news articles and not the content itself. My hot take in defense of vampire knight, is that it is no weirder than every other wack ass anime trope we overlook. I will rewatch Vampire Knight, reread the entire manga, and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter of Vampire Knight Memories. Genuinely, I found the subbed version of Vampire Knight before I found the dubbed... And I'm pretty sure this anime is the reason why I prefer to watch subbed over dubbed. With the exception of Code Geass. I found fan-subbed episodes before Crunchyroll was really a thing, and the amount of sparkley rainbow WordArt interjections added to make Code Geass even gayer was too much for me. Like, yay gay subtext, but I'd prefer to watch overly complex political machinations without Lelouch getting glitter thrown over every dramatic arm flourish.

For all of Vampire Knight's issues, after being forced by a friend to sit through both seasons, I can honestly say that both the design and the soundtrack are phenomenal. My friend has the art book and I have to admit that it is gorgeous.
Oh speaking of Bryce. I looked it up and he voices yhe male MC for Rune Factory 4. And that one character in that blood prison naruto movie

Not just the opening and ending themes are good, I absolutely loved the whole OST of this anime. Plus I find the overall dark academia mystical vibes absolutely fascinating.
I liked it until the whole creepy incest thing was brought in. Her brother groomed her from a young age and the fact that the only reason her parents had her was so her brother could have a wife was messed up.
Kaname isn’t her brother he’s her ancestor. (Even though he was raised with her like siblings) kaname actively says “if I truly was born as her older brother I’d be much happier.” Kaname is the original kuran. But yeah no that part of it really weird. Even thought sibling marriage was a Normal thing in irl history till people saw it as a bad thing.

It wasn't so clear in the anime. The Kaname we see in the show, is one of the very first vampires, which would make him Yuki's Ancestor. There's lots of detail, but I won't go too deep into it now.
Kaname is about 10.000 years old but put himself into a long slumber as he was simply tired of living. Also someone who was really close to him died, where he didn't see much to live for anymore (understably after so many years already)
This ancestor Kaname was awoken by Rido Kuran. Rido killed the "real" Kaname who was actually Yuki's biological brother, when he was still a baby, to make him a sacrifice to Ancestor Kaname who was asleep for so many years. So Yuki's biological brother is dead.
Rido wanted Kanames power (as he is one of the most powerful vampires since hes still one of the first ones to exist) so he woke him up with the sacrifice. But Rido underestimated Ancestor Kaname. Anc. Kaname was incredibly thirsty and realized the baby and Rido wouldn't be enough for him to be able to control himself. So he used his power and turned himself into an infant since his original body couldn't heal himself enough. Haruka (Yuki's Father and Ridos Brother) found them. So Anc. Kanames was raised as Yuki's brother by Haruka and Yuri Kuran. He suppressed his memories and grew up with the Family Kuran. It's actually coincidence that Yuki's biological baby brother was named Kaname as well.
Oh it's kinda worse, he's not actually her sibling, but like the ancestor to most if not all pureblood vampires, but he WANTS to be her biological brother that groomed and then went on to isolate her, not going to lie but the show would've actually been good if they ditched the source material, removed that sub plot and just leaned into making kaname the bad guy (and actually giving a satisfactory conclusion to hanabusa's whole arc)

The manga has a CHOKEHOLD on me as a kid. I had all the volumes, and a Vampire Knight art book. I wrote Matsuri Hino a letter once, even. 🤣😭

This is my most love/hate anime. Like it’s bad absolutely horribly written but also I love nearly every stupid trope it throws at me. To be fair I gave a 10/10 on MAL to Diabolik Lovers of all things so my opinion is full of brain rot lol
Indeed one of the best vampire romance story to me. It's end then had side story, i even manage to get to know why would the author named it 'vampire knight' 😂 and from what i recall it has to do with the mc, Yuki herself. It's had that vampire ghotic beautiful dark depressed art and vibe. I admired the author so much 🥺

I liked this anime, definitely brought the will to be a vampire as a kid, now I'm scared of getting sun burnt and wear tinted glasses everytime I go outside cause I cant stand the light (it also makes me look scary, so they say) so yeep, this anime changed my life lol
