Very thorough test and great economy figures for such a big heavy diesel! I'm not keen on mild hybrid tech since it doesn't really seem to be that radical as a technology, but you've certainly gotten very advanced economy from it!
Helmut thanks for your video. This Volvo diesel / hybrid is not available in the U.S. Reminds me of a VW station wagon. Diesel fuel here is still too expensive and the addition of Urea in the fuel system is also an added cost. Here at our local supermarket regular gas is $4.659 / gallon (U.S.), diesel fuel is $5.949 / gallon (U.S.). As you can see there is no benefit with diesel like there once was. Even if that Volvo was for sale here nobody would probably buy it for any economical benefit. Thanks again Helmut for letting us see vehicles that you review that are not available here in the U.S., and of course some that are.
Have you ever driven something with Fiat's 2 cylinder 900cc twinair engine? I'm probably better off with a Toyota but I almost bought one as its more economical according to the test cycle, but user data suggests it's around 46mpg Vs the claimed 70mpg on the test cycle. I suppose it could just be inefficient drivers with a turbo which pushes the fuel economy so low? XD
It most definitely is the turbo. A turbo 0.9L should drink as much as N/A 1.1L when at part load but as much as a 1.6L N/A when you mash the throttle. Since to get any performance at all you heavily rely on the little snail on the exhaust manifold it will impact fuel economy a lot since most people drive like maniacs on the road

congrats for this video. Exactly what I was looking for!

Thanks, I know, not all cars I test are available everywhere.. but at least I educate the world's motorists about what's around elsewhere :)
Thanks much for this... definitely helped in purchase option
Thank you Helmut, do you have any plans to test 1.0 tgdi engine?
nice testing as always! impressive consumption on the highway. i would have expected more. was it AWD version? i must have missed this info. thank you
Hi, thanks. There is no AWD version of this car. Only FWD.
@@ecodriver1746 ok. that explains partially the good mileage. thanks
I was wondering if you could do vw golf GTI mk 7.5 performance pack how economic it is ,since i am planing to buy one

Do you need to run on efficiently drive mode to get these results?
In my country - even a full loaded T8 version of this car, is like 14.000 euro cheaper, due to taxes on these fossil-cars..
F**k. My 2013 Accord VIII 2.2 DTEC would score no less than ~7l/100km
